I'm sticking to used wingman and more basic models I find at local pawn shops. No way I'm paying the price of an arc and use it at work risking that price tag.
Skipped on the arc hype train and gave up on Leatherman almost completely. I sold my charge tti & black surge. Bought a dl30 and a dl2(i think) from daicamping. The only leatherman i still have and still carry, is the micra on my keychain. Definitely sticking to the cheaper multitools from now on.
@@BassMaster.454 I’ve never gotten them gunked up. I work in the trades and also I’ve put them through hard use, they still work great. I just try to make sure not to set them down in dirty areas. If I’m working in a dirty area I’ll put it back in my pocket after I use it and so on.
Hate to say this but i totally agree with you on what Leatherman is doing. Im from South Africa and a standard Arc is about $413 once you convert our currency to dollars, its a ridiculous price for the average man to pay. I carry a Sidekick but the Wave and Surge are more viable on the pocket then the Arc
Hello man, i'm also done with leatherman, i'm in france iv'e tried my friend Arc it's cool one hand open etc but 300 EUROS in europe 300 ! it's too expensive for a tool i can have like 3 wave and 4 rebar for this price wtf leatherman are thinking ... 1 can have 2 Victorinox spirit for this ... big shame for leatherman
Leatherman is more of a collectible now.... They have given up on providing a working tool for the masses, looks like Chinese Clones are much better valued.
Leatherman's become all style and no subtance. GOAT Tools & Roxon are the companies REALLY innovating. And with all the Leatherman clones out there that are good enough and more than affordable, why would anyone buy the top of the line $200+ tools? IT'S INSANE! And what does Leatherman do? They release new colors... More than agree with you on the Garage being stupid.
Please dont give up, your videos are great. Buy some clones odd ones and budget stuff. They invented forged pliers and titanium scales, VG-10 blades. The non leatherman segment gone big in 2024. Gerber SOG Leatherman is way down to the shitter.
Bought a RockTol Gen R for $50 during Az Prime days after watching MaxLvl video and this thing is a beast. Will throw it in the FJ. Your Charge intrigues me, love the G-10, but unsure about cost there. Still wanting to pick up the Gordon at Harbor Freight for $40 but they are never in stock.
Surge is definitely still King! I'd love to see one made completely out of a premium steel including a premium bit kit! Now that would get my attention! 😂
I completely agree with your opinion. Leatherman is turning into some boutique bs and it’s really turning me off to the brand. They have never been perfect but the cool factor used to make up for it. These days that’s all they seem to care about and the functionality is subpar. That being said why do you have the arc, if you don’t like what they have to sell? Why did you give them your money? Not trying to attack you or undermine you. I’m genuinely asking.
@@appleztooranges thank you for answering. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for what you want to do with your money, no one does. That’s perfectly reasonable and understandable.
If I’m being completely honest with myself if I had the money for the arc I would probably just buy it too. Even though I still would not agree with the direction leatherman is moving towards. I’m kind of embarrassed to admit it but that tool is cool af. I just wish it was they didn’t choose from over function.

I rock a rebar. Has everything I need and better build quality
I’ve stuck to my Swisstool and Spirit for years now. Never been disappointed. Always puts a smile on my face when I have a reason to use them.
Do you have a problem opening the tools when they get gunked up?

The obsidian don't even look as good as the original on top of that

Leatherman is the best multi-tool ever made all the rest try to live up to Leatherman standards and they all fail.
I will stick with my Charge TTi and surge...and that's it, No more. Leatherman has gone downhill.
