    Great general summary of the different types of rvs and their pros and cons. We have had all the driveable rvs except the super Cs. We have also owned two large 5th wheels for more more permanent situations where space was more more important than movement. They were all great for for their different uses. I think the key takeaway is that one size or type is not the best for everyone. A lot depends on your current use needs and financial situation. And those needs and finances change.

      So you are one of the people that have owned 5+ RVs! 😀 You nailed it. So many dimensions to consider when deciding on what type of RV to purchase. Thanks for watching! ❤️

    I have decided a long time ago to a Super C. Either Renegade or Newmar, or if I come across a Showhauler. A Super C for safety and towing capacity. I will be living in it full time until after finding a home to buy in different states. I will be then be part time! 😊

      @fuelyourwander  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All of those are great options. We toured them all at the Hershey RV Show. We like the Renegades the best from a quality and finishes perspective, but all really nice. We miss some of the conveniences of the Super C while driving like being able to easily hop out to refuel, and having a separate entry door.

    After 4 years with our 40ft 5th wheel, we’re moving to a SuperC 34-40 ft. We retired part timers in Florida and love taking trips out west. The SuperC seems to fit our travel style better than a 5th wheel.

    • @fuelyourwander
      @fuelyourwander  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nice! You'll like the Super C from a travel and driving perspective. Also much easier to set up and break down each time you move. We miss certain aspects of our Super C. If we had one of the newer model Super Cs that was a tag and had air suspension, we probably would've stuck with it. Curious what you end up with and how it compares to your 5th wheel. Keep us posted!

    Hi Guys, love the channel! Congratulations on getting married! (Hi Axel) All the best! What do you think of used RVs ? I ask this question here because buying a new RV is a HUGE investment. It is hard to know what you really want/need if you have never owned one A catch 22. And, after a few months in one type, you might find another class suits you better? Sure, you can sell a newer "used" RV better than an older "used" RV, but the newer the RV, the move value it loses in the first year. A catch 22. Perhaps. With new AND used RVs, quality and repair time and budget are major factors. Here's what I think: A used RV, carefully researched (and compared to a dozen others you've tested), CAN be a great deal. I say "can", because, if, for example, you find an RV lovingly maintained by someone, there's a lot of value in that RV that cannot necessarily be recovered in the price. You can see the whole folder full of receipts for repairs and maintenance (tires, engine, roof, brakes) and upgrades (suspension, additions such as water filters, washer/dryer, solar, lithium batteries -- things you might not have gotten from the factory). You also have the possibility of getting very high-end brand (Safari, Monarch, Newell, etc.) for 1/10 of its original cost. High-quality steel, cabinetry, engines, tiles, leather do not loose their quality with time, if well-maintained. What do you two think? Given a given budget, which makes more sense? A low-end new RV, or a high-end used RV? Thanks and God bless.

    One thing to consider with a tow able is your driving skills with a trailer. A trailer is going to handle much different than a large bus. They whip in the wind and you have to be able to steer when backing up. You have to turn the opposite direction. Some people are really go at it, some people cannot back a trailer to save their lives. I've seen big rig drivers that probably should find another line of work because they have a terrible time backing up to a loading bay.

      It’s true and an unfortunate reality. Many manufacturers are cutting their workforce and reducing their focus on quality. This is happening across lots of different industries too. It’s a shame. Greedy corporations caring only about profits and their stock price.

    Regarding your Jeep and Lemon Laws. Be sure the Lemon Law atty. you hire does not allow Stelantis (Chrysler) to 1099 you for for the amount that they pay for YOUR attorneys fees, as income. Make sure the proper wording on the SETTLEMENT agreement covers everything. Plan on minimum (1) year for a settlement. The games they all play.

  • @sickjohnson

    One thing I think you may have missed is that the class A gas RV's can/usually get worse MPG's...and power/torque to weight is night and day thus the engine load is degenerative usually; but with the money you saved...it can buy a lot of gas? Also depreciation is a big factor in all these RV's...as in like nothing else...no?
    Good to see a new video from you two...missing Axle though. More please!

    • @fuelyourwander
      @fuelyourwander  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When you average the MPG across the toad and the RV, it’s on par with a trailer. After all, when we stop for a couple weeks, we will be driving our hybrid and if you have a large truck pulling a trailer, you will be getting far less MPG than our EV. 😀 Depreciation is an issue with all vehicles. It seems worse because of the high dollar values of RVs, but on percentage basis, probably very similar. We always try to include Axle! He is the star of the show. ❤️

    Gas A is awesome for maintaining. I just worry about overloading and throwing a 5K TOAD on the back. Just look at the CCC of the Newmar 3826 Bay Star. Beautiful but already maxed on weight and a TOAD would probably over do it. Thoughts?

    What license is needed for an RV especially you’re going to flat tow,
    Do you just use a same Driver license to Drive a car so you can also drive Recreational Vehicle?

    My research makes me think that a Super C is the safest on the highway and easy to get service from most truck stops. Towing power is higher and CCC weight is higher. We might consider the Newmar Canyon Star. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge on RVs and living the RV lifestyle. Blessings

    • @fuelyourwander
      @fuelyourwander  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think a Super C is easier to drive, but far more noisy when driving (since the engine is in the front vs the rear). Service is definitely easier on the Super C. Towing power is the same either way. Our current Class A has more towing capacity (20k vs 15k) than our Super C. There is more space inside and underneath a Class A vs. a Super C. It’s all about what is most important to you. 😀

  • @aflyr
    @aflyr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    One disadvantage that you missed on the Class A is that they are much more dangerous to be in in an accident. Because you don't have anything in front of you in an accident it is a real problem. Comparatively a Super C is much safer.

    • @fuelyourwander
      @fuelyourwander  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that's a good point. We did feel safer driving in our Super C than our Class A for sure. Super C was just too noisy for us, but we liked the convenience of driving it.

      I would encourage you to do massive amounts of research and take notes. Make a list of must haves and think hard about what can you do without. Where do you want to go?? That class A is not going to get you 50 miles on dirt roads back into BLM land. Based on your comments you are going to need a lot of power for your hobbies. To upgrade a class A with that much solar will be expensive. Remember the more amenities you have the more stuff will brake down. Nothing like getting ready to leave and your slide won't go in. I have a 12 foot travel trailer with a king size bed because that was my priority. I am willing to live w/o all the bells & whistles. I have a 12v fridge that runs on solar. All my solar is portable and can be moved. Think outside the box. Check out basic cargo trailers and custom build your layout for all your gaming equipment. Wool insulation. Windows are easy to install. I would also say selling/trading is not as easy as it seems. If you want to be totally self sufficient, keep a small inexpensive footprint. Again I suggest spend on solar. It is possible to put a significant system together. Starling is also a good investment. JMHO
