I visit the Holy Cave of the Apocalypse on Patmos Island. This cave marks the spot where St. John was imprisoned by the Romans and received the visions which he recorded in the Book of Revelation.

Did you get tickets for the cave in advance? I don’t want a tour group I just want the cave and not sure if I just show up?

I checked a few websites for when the cruise ships were in Patmos and I tried to chose a day when they were not in Port, but I got it wrong. I went alone by scooter, and the best I could do was try to time my visit in between the big groups going in to the cave, but I was not very successful. in retrospect, I think if I went an hour before it closed I might’ve had it all to myself. I did not buy tickets in advance, you buy them right inside the door at the entrance at anytime.
