I don't think much of Will at the moment ether. I think my favorite part in the book is ether when Magnus talks about how he prefers black hair and blue eyes (Malec!!) or when Church is introduced at the end.

Finally someone who likes them both I have just read the clockwork prince and I am going to read clockwork princess soon enough and I have read the whole mortal instruments series except the heavenly fire because I knew Tessa Will be there I didn't want to get spoilers so I am reading TID And I do know a bit about the ending only a bit (spoiled I know but still not much)and I love will and jem equally will loved Tessa but when jem announced he was engaged with Tessa she prayed that everyone will clap because it will break Jem's heart if they don't will was the first person to congratulate them I felt that scene but jem is amazing too!!no matter what I read in clockwork princess and heavenly fire will change my opinion I saw many ship videos and was always disappointed to see everyone favouring one either will or jem. but finally somebody on the planet who likes the both!!
I hated Will in the first book, and by the end of Clockwork Princess, I loved Will so much! I read the Infernal Devices first and while recently reading City of Bones, I was surprised by the similarities between Jace and Will, though I still like Will a lot more.

I never really understood why everyone loves Jace so much. He thinks of himself so highly, and when he doesn't get something he throws a tantrum. He's just so irritating, and I can't find a single redeeming quality about him.

Kind, calm, adult, he also has a super tragic back story but that doesn't make him a jerk! And that makes me love him even more!

I have to admit, in Clockwork Angel I had a serious love/hate relationship with Will because in the moments where he was truly himself and let his guard down he was such a likeable character but then when he pushed Tessa away and said what he said to her at the end of the book (about her not being able to have kids) I really thought he was an asshole. I love Will and you definitely get a better insight into how sweet he is in the last two books. Even though I ship Wessa so much the overall love triangle was just so beautiful and amazing. I definitely prefer it to TMI.

You're right about Will; after you get to know him you may like him a lot more. When I read this book, I had heard about Will and I was confused because it was hard to see why I would like him, but I really want to know him after the first book. And yes Tessa is brilliant for shape shifting when Mortmain tried to take her. I read this over a year ago and I still can't get over how amazing that was.
I recommended this series to you and you said you were excited for it, so I was really worried you'd hate it!! Ha :D When you said this series feels different to the Mortal Instruments, I completely agreed because I've always felt like TID is like a rainy London evening, all foggy and mysterious, and it has Victorian poetry, fashion, rapier wit and a fascinating setting! It took everything I liked about TMI and transplanted it into one of my favourite eras and cities. Perfect. I get why you don't like Will, I didn't at first - although I appreciated his sense of humour! Jem is such a sweetheart. He's lovely. I'm so glad you liked the book!

I think you are the only person I know that also didn't like Will. I've read all three and at the end, I didn't mind him but I didn't love him. I'm so happy that I've found another Jem and Charlotte lover, as well!
I just finished Clockwork Angel and i just wanted to note that Jem and Tessa would have been such an amazing couple if not for the fact that every majority of their conversations was about Will. There were so many times where they had such deep and open conversations together with and then suddenly WILL.
I loved the attic scene with Will. After you get into the second book, you start to understand his character more and boy is he one amazing person. WESSA FOREVER
Yes, YES! Finally! I'm sorry for all Will lovers out there, but I just hated his guts! Jem was amazing, even though he had those terrible things happen to him when he was a kid, he did not become selfish, arrogant, mean, etc. He's just a super nice character, and I love him so much. Will, on the other hand, seemed like an ass. :( What you said about Tessa, I so agree! I felt sorry for her, too, and I really admired her for that scene at the end. She IS a smart girl, and I hope to see her "smartness" evolve in the following books. Charlotte was OK, she was very believable as a character, because she seemed like a normal woman (as normal as shadowhunters get, I guess...) entrusted with great responsibility, and she had doubts and fears sometimes, and that was OK. What/who I want to see more of is Bane. I freaking loved him! He's funny, he's mysterious, he has this alluring aura around him. I'm really intrigued to see where the ending of the book will take us. Him and Will? That's gotta be worth reading. :D All in all, you made some really good points on this book. Looking forward to your opinion on those other two books in the series! P.S. You didn't say anything about Mortmain. I mean, I actually saw that coming a mile away. I don't know why, but I kind of knew from the moment when Charlotte and Henry visited him... I just had a feeling, and that feeling came true.
I hated Will as well. However, my opinion of him has only gotten to more of an indifference to mediocre liking, as opposed to the obsessive love most fans have. I still and always will prefer Jem (yes I have read all books).

Loredana Adriana But some people aren't always what they seem. It is the same in real life. Sometimes you really have to know someone's story. And no spoilers or anything, but I'd be willing to bet that you'd probably act the same exact way as Will if you were in his situation. Will is now probably my favorite character of all time and it's because of just how much depth he has as a character. I actually re-read the series recently and re-reading Clockwork Angel (and the other books) actually made me love him more. So wait and see. (btw, I'm not arguing that Jem isn't amazing. I love Jem. Personally, I've just always preferred Will.)
What I like about Will, even if it's just in the first book, is how much he cares about Jem. Like he would do anything for him, and despite him being a jerk at times, I figure that anyone who can care for someone as much as Will does for Jem can't be a horrible person so there must be a reason for that. I really like the scene where they are all having breakfast and Jessamine asks Tessa how does it feels to be evil, and Tessa asks her if she wants her to conjure up the devil so she can meet him since she's so interested in the topic. LOL As for shipping, I can't choose between Will and Jem :X I think all three of them are best when they're all together.
3:30 EXACTLY!! i don't only dislike will , i HATE him, though i never felt like that with jace. I loved jace, maybe that's because jace had a past and he was so greatly described and crafted. He was just so amazing and he was like will but still there were differences. The way he talked and the slight humor in his talk, he cared for everyone and he was never rude to anyone. Will is nothing like him.

Finished the 3rd book a while ago and just gotta say it only goes uphill from here. Clockwork prince expands on the world so much and introduces a lot. Clockwork princess wraps up everything and gives everyone, uhh how do I word this without spoiling? Nevermind just know it's the best of the 3
I felt the same exact way about Will when I read the first book! I thought he was such an ass, tbh. I preferred Jem too in the beginning. But as the series goes on you get to learn why he acts the way he does and he also has a lot of redeeming qualities. It was so conflicting for me because I didn't know who to ship because I loved them all so much together! "Do I Wessa? Or do I Jessa?" Then I ultimately just started shipping Herongraystairs.

You just have to give Will a chance! He has a really good reason for acting like he is, I just know you'll grow to love him! (And if you don't then there's something seriously wrong with you) the fun thing about this series is that the love triangle is so different then other love triangles and you'll find you why in the other books! I'm so happy you finally read this! I have to warn you, I just read the series last month and I'm still not over it!

Later in the series you really learn more about Wills past which makes him very sympathetic which will help you like him a lot more. I adore this series and think it is better than Mortal Instruments. Throughout the book I was also a huge Jessa shipper and I love the relationship arch between Tessa and all of the characters!

My favourite part was definitely the introduction with the Dark Sisters! Like for me it really set us up for how dark the story may be and it was just so atmospheric like I could literally feel like I was in those scenes with Tessa :)
Yes, you have to give Will time. I really started liking his character half way through Clockwork Prince. And my favorite scene from this book is when Tessa is rescued and we meet Will and Jem!
Love all Cassandra's books, The Infernal Devices was my favorite just because it took place in a time where love was declared more intensively and poetic. Will and Tessa!

Clockwork Angel was a fun book for me back when I read after “City of Fallen Angels" because of all the character compares and contrasts between the two series, and how some scenes are similar. I loved how Jem is the opposite of Will and those two get along so well, Henry with his inventions (Henry is just adorable), Will 's hatred over ducks. the De Quincy Party, and how Mortmain was the villain because I did not see that coming. Sophie was a great sisterly figure towards Tessa and I did not see the whole her loving Jem thing at all! And Nate...I was MAD when he did what he did- like what Caleb did to Tris!!! And about William Herondale you WILL come around to love him in the second and third novels because he grows so much. Really all the characters grow and change so beautifully which is why I love “The Infernal Devices" even more than “The Mortal Instruments". :) :) :)

Cassandra Clare's books are so intriguing! Love all her books. On what you said about Nate, I read something very interesting on a post commenting on the characters who represented the virtues/vices cards (Nate was greed, by the way) saying that if "he [was] alive today, he’d probably be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder."
Will upsets me in this book but Idk why I can't help but love his character, still? And reading the reviews, I definitely would love him in the next!! I just hope there's better concept and more character development!
There are elements of Will 's past in book two that explain why he acts the way he does, also his reaction to the love triangle vastly improves the way you will view him. Urgh by the end of book two all I wanted to do was grab Jem and Will in my arms and hug the poor babies.
when tessa pretended to kill herself, i didn't think about changing to that bleeding girl, but i was thinking she can stab herself in her heart and turn to camille so she doesn't need heart beat anyway and she'll heal fast and then she can change back to herself. i really enjoyed the book and loved tessa's character but i think she didn't use her power as much as she could have used it like she should have changed to aghata when the automaton killed her and they could hide aghata's body and mortmain would have never found her. she didn't use her power for disguise and that really disapointed me.
I tore through this trilogy in January! I love Charlotte and Henry so much- and Will but that took time! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the next two. And I definitely agree on the love-hate relationship with Jessamine.

SO I read these back in 7th grade as just a quick read and to pass my reading class and now I own every book by Cassandra Clare.... I loved Will in the sense that... well he was Will but I fell head over heels for everyone else.... but Jessamine... that pain was later. I cried over this book, and the others, and laughed for this book. I recommend it to everyone I meet who want a good read and love the way Cassandra Clare pushes all these universes together. With Vampires and werewolves and magic in general I thought she mixed it all in well and plan on rereading the books soon

I have to admit, in Clockwork Angel I had a serious love/hate relationship with Will because in the moments where he was truly himself and let his guard down he was such a likeable character but then when he pushed Tessa away and said what he said to her at the end of the book (about her not being able to have kids) I really thought he was an asshole. I love Will and you definitely get a better insight into how sweet he is in the last two books. Even though I ship Wessa so much the overall love triangle was just so beautiful and amazing. I definitely prefer it to TMI.

You're right about Will; after you get to know him you may like him a lot more. When I read this book, I had heard about Will and I was confused because it was hard to see why I would like him, but I really want to know him after the first book. And yes Tessa is brilliant for shape shifting when Mortmain tried to take her. I read this over a year ago and I still can't get over how amazing that was.

I recommended this series to you and you said you were excited for it, so I was really worried you'd hate it!! Ha :D When you said this series feels different to the Mortal Instruments, I completely agreed because I've always felt like TID is like a rainy London evening, all foggy and mysterious, and it has Victorian poetry, fashion, rapier wit and a fascinating setting! It took everything I liked about TMI and transplanted it into one of my favourite eras and cities. Perfect. I get why you don't like Will, I didn't at first - although I appreciated his sense of humour! Jem is such a sweetheart. He's lovely. I'm so glad you liked the book!

I think you are the only person I know that also didn't like Will. I've read all three and at the end, I didn't mind him but I didn't love him. I'm so happy that I've found another Jem and Charlotte lover, as well!

I just finished Clockwork Angel and i just wanted to note that Jem and Tessa would have been such an amazing couple if not for the fact that every majority of their conversations was about Will. There were so many times where they had such deep and open conversations together with and then suddenly WILL.
I loved the attic scene with Will. After you get into the second book, you start to understand his character more and boy is he one amazing person. WESSA FOREVER
Yes, YES! Finally! I'm sorry for all Will lovers out there, but I just hated his guts! Jem was amazing, even though he had those terrible things happen to him when he was a kid, he did not become selfish, arrogant, mean, etc. He's just a super nice character, and I love him so much. Will, on the other hand, seemed like an ass. :(
What you said about Tessa, I so agree! I felt sorry for her, too, and I really admired her for that scene at the end. She IS a smart girl, and I hope to see her "smartness" evolve in the following books.
Charlotte was OK, she was very believable as a character, because she seemed like a normal woman (as normal as shadowhunters get, I guess...) entrusted with great responsibility, and she had doubts and fears sometimes, and that was OK.
What/who I want to see more of is Bane. I freaking loved him! He's funny, he's mysterious, he has this alluring aura around him. I'm really intrigued to see where the ending of the book will take us. Him and Will? That's gotta be worth reading. :D
All in all, you made some really good points on this book. Looking forward to your opinion on those other two books in the series!
P.S. You didn't say anything about Mortmain. I mean, I actually saw that coming a mile away. I don't know why, but I kind of knew from the moment when Charlotte and Henry visited him... I just had a feeling, and that feeling came true.

I hated Will as well. However, my opinion of him has only gotten to more of an indifference to mediocre liking, as opposed to the obsessive love most fans have. I still and always will prefer Jem (yes I have read all books).

Loredana Adriana But some people aren't always what they seem. It is the same in real life. Sometimes you really have to know someone's story. And no spoilers or anything, but I'd be willing to bet that you'd probably act the same exact way as Will if you were in his situation. Will is now probably my favorite character of all time and it's because of just how much depth he has as a character. I actually re-read the series recently and re-reading Clockwork Angel (and the other books) actually made me love him more. So wait and see. (btw, I'm not arguing that Jem isn't amazing. I love Jem. Personally, I've just always preferred Will.)
What I like about Will, even if it's just in the first book, is how much he cares about Jem. Like he would do anything for him, and despite him being a jerk at times, I figure that anyone who can care for someone as much as Will does for Jem can't be a horrible person so there must be a reason for that.
I really like the scene where they are all having breakfast and Jessamine asks Tessa how does it feels to be evil, and Tessa asks her if she wants her to conjure up the devil so she can meet him since she's so interested in the topic. LOL
As for shipping, I can't choose between Will and Jem :X I think all three of them are best when they're all together.

EXACTLY!! i don't only dislike will , i HATE him, though i never felt like that with jace. I loved jace, maybe that's because jace had a past and he was so greatly described and crafted. He was just so amazing and he was like will but still there were differences. The way he talked and the slight humor in his talk, he cared for everyone and he was never rude to anyone. Will is nothing like him.
Sometimes I like Will sometimes I don't. I love Jem all the time tho.

Finished the 3rd book a while ago and just gotta say it only goes uphill from here. Clockwork prince expands on the world so much and introduces a lot. Clockwork princess wraps up everything and gives everyone, uhh how do I word this without spoiling? Nevermind just know it's the best of the 3
I felt the same exact way about Will when I read the first book! I thought he was such an ass, tbh. I preferred Jem too in the beginning. But as the series goes on you get to learn why he acts the way he does and he also has a lot of redeeming qualities. It was so conflicting for me because I didn't know who to ship because I loved them all so much together! "Do I Wessa? Or do I Jessa?" Then I ultimately just started shipping Herongraystairs.

I'm so happy you finally read this! I have to warn you, I just read the series last month and I'm still not over it!

Later in the series you really learn more about Wills past which makes him very sympathetic which will help you like him a lot more. I adore this series and think it is better than Mortal Instruments. Throughout the book I was also a huge Jessa shipper and I love the relationship arch between Tessa and all of the characters!

My favourite part was definitely the introduction with the Dark Sisters! Like for me it really set us up for how dark the story may be and it was just so atmospheric like I could literally feel like I was in those scenes with Tessa :)
Yes, you have to give Will time. I really started liking his character half way through Clockwork Prince. And my favorite scene from this book is when Tessa is rescued and we meet Will and Jem!
Love all Cassandra's books, The Infernal Devices was my favorite just because it took place in a time where love was declared more intensively and poetic. Will and Tessa!

Clockwork Angel was a fun book for me back when I read after “City of Fallen Angels" because of all the character compares and contrasts between the two series, and how some scenes are similar. I loved how Jem is the opposite of Will and those two get along so well, Henry with his inventions (Henry is just adorable), Will 's hatred over ducks. the De Quincy Party, and how Mortmain was the villain because I did not see that coming. Sophie was a great sisterly figure towards Tessa and I did not see the whole her loving Jem thing at all! And Nate...I was MAD when he did what he did- like what Caleb did to Tris!!! And about William Herondale you WILL come around to love him in the second and third novels because he grows so much. Really all the characters grow and change so beautifully which is why I love “The Infernal Devices" even more than “The Mortal Instruments". :) :) :)

Cassandra Clare's books are so intriguing! Love all her books. On what you said about Nate, I read something very interesting on a post commenting on the characters who represented the virtues/vices cards (Nate was greed, by the way) saying that if "he [was] alive today, he’d probably be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder."
Will upsets me in this book but Idk why I can't help but love his character, still? And reading the reviews, I definitely would love him in the next!! I just hope there's better concept and more character development!

There are elements of Will 's past in book two that explain why he acts the way he does, also his reaction to the love triangle vastly improves the way you will view him. Urgh by the end of book two all I wanted to do was grab Jem and Will in my arms and hug the poor babies.

when tessa pretended to kill herself, i didn't think about changing to that bleeding girl, but i was thinking she can stab herself in her heart and turn to camille so she doesn't need heart beat anyway and she'll heal fast and then she can change back to herself.
i really enjoyed the book and loved tessa's character but i think she didn't use her power as much as she could have used it like she should have changed to aghata when the automaton killed her and they could hide aghata's body and mortmain would have never found her.
she didn't use her power for disguise and that really disapointed me.

SO I read these back in 7th grade as just a quick read and to pass my reading class and now I own every book by Cassandra Clare.... I loved Will in the sense that... well he was Will but I fell head over heels for everyone else.... but Jessamine... that pain was later. I cried over this book, and the others, and laughed for this book. I recommend it to everyone I meet who want a good read and love the way Cassandra Clare pushes all these universes together. With Vampires and werewolves and magic in general I thought she mixed it all in well and plan on rereading the books soon

I agree with you, Will is an Ok character for me now and I really love Jem's character and back story more, I just finished the book an hour ago and I have to say It's one of the best books I read for a while, each page is full and rich of details and I wasn't bored through it. Also i have to say I love Sophie and still feeling sad for Thomas :(
That's my favorite trilogy of all... The character development and the plot are just awesome... I can't tell if you're gonna love Will because I never did, I mean I acceppted him and I was okay with the final of the series but I never loved Will as much as everybody... You'll learn more about everybody through the others books so don't worry... Only Jem will be always Jem ♡... Jessa Team Bro!
