    So, I’m basically a senior in college and I was getting my degree in sociology. i wanted to go into the liberal arts field likely working in academia. I got pregnant and just had my first baby and i had a natura unmedicated birth. I fell in love with the process of physiological birth and just birth in general. I have my baby now and i want to transfer out of my university (don’t even offer nursing there) and i’m going to community college. it feels like a “step back” but i want to support women through their labors no matter what route they take unmedicated, medicated, c-section whatever it be i think it’s best to have someone that supports you on your side. i had such a good experience with my l&d nurse and i think i can do it myself! i eventually want to become a midwife so i can help women bring their beautiful babies into this world !

    Where I am from, it is easier to get a L&D job as a new grad. Nurse for 9 years here. Mainly ICU. I have been trying to get L&D for the past 5 years. Never. Ever. Happened. I didn’t have enough “experience”. Finally, FINALLY after all this time, I got an L&D job. I am petrified. I’m preparing for the worst. Lol. I’m not afraid of hard work. I have had 4-5 patients (total care 3 on vents, post op day 3 heart, and one step down patient) on one assignment in an ICU. I got the 3rd vent (it was an “obs” patient) who was intubated when he got to the unit. I have had 9 med surge patients (8 was the norm) on another assignment.
    But, I have never worked just with women and babies. My hospital I will be working at is a small hospital. No residents, no techs. And I’m excited about it. But still petrified! 😂

    Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it. I’m a second semester nursing student, I’ve got about 9 months until I take NCLEX. Going through nursing school during COVID, I feel like we get a lot less interaction and experiences with things and “real life” nursing so it was great to get this perspective! 😊

    This video was very helpful. I’m currently looking to change study programs. I’m currently a 23yr old second year pharmacy student looking to take on a separate route. Maternal treatment during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum of Black women specifically has always been a strong interest of mine, which is why I’m so happy I found your page! I’m currently taking this month to gather all my research so I can start the nursing program in the fall and this video was extremely insightful so thank you!

    I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. I am 20 about to be 21 years old, but I haven’t attended college yet because I just realized that being a labor and delivery nurse is what I truly want to do. So for me, what do I have to do to get started. And what classes do I have to exactly take to become one?

    • @taishas9905
      @taishas9905 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will take you 2-4 Years to become a Nurse depending on what degree you’re going for. Nursing schools will have you take an entrance exam than pre reqs before you actually start the nursing school. I’m 20 also and I’m starting school in September for my Associates degree in nursing.

    • @taishas9905
      @taishas9905 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The classes you have to take mainly depends on what nursing school you go to. You would have to talk to your school advisor about that and they should help you. Also make sure the nursing school you decide to attend is accredited. Hopes this helps 😊
