I've wondered, if Bernie hadn't gone Griffon, and rumored locked out everybody else access to them, would the rush to the turbine have occurred? Or was it just timing and some early success to Pay 'N Pak? I actually like both power types, so for me no issues there.
Griffon wasn't available on the surplus market in the US by the thousands like the Packard 1650 'Merlin' or the Allison V-1710, which were used in tens of thousands of US built planes, Griffon was only used in British planes in fairly limited numbers.
