I graduated high school in Bellevue in 1980 I used to go to these races with friends all the time. I was wondering if you remembered the name of the rock station boat I think it was Miss Rock or W something something Miss Rock like I said I forgot it was a black boat from a local rock and roll radio station in Seattle.

You look at the difference in the font size on some of these boats back then. They had a lot of deck space yet the sponsor name was pretty small relatively speaking compared to the space they had. The Squire Shop was an exception. They made their sponsor's name big and highly visible but the Circus Circus the name is small. They could have made it much bigger an more visible. Bernie Little's Budweiser boats were the same way. When they has the gold, white and red paint scheme. They had huge deck space but the sponsors name was small. It wasn't until the 90s when they demanded that the hydroplane go with the all red paint to match those of the other Budweiser race teams that the sponsor name became much more visible. Even today some of the Hydroplane teams have terrible paint schemes with the sponsor name not very visible. Homestreet Bank was one of the all time worst. If you didn't already know who the sponsor was, you would never be able to tell when it was on the water. Sponsors pay a lot of money, they deserve to have their names seen.

Interesting segment when Chip Hanauer was discussing his racing uniform with the reporter. Those hydraulic shorts. I must admit that's the first time I've heard the term "180 mph enema".

I was ashore at Lake Washington when Gary Bangs was killed. I believe in The Squire Shop hydro. Thrown out and then they suspect the boat idling around pilotless ran over an unconscious Bangs.

You're referring to the late Jerry Bangs.
