@@onlyinjapanGO I wouldn't want to come all the way out just for a Konbini. That said, the Unagi wasn't too bad (assuming the portion size isn't ridiculously small), and maybe if you come as places start closing up, you'll get deals like the Tiger Prawn.
Am I just repeating others if I say that I just LOVE the vids , I always love to hear your enthusiastic voice over the food and Japan And you are so sweet with the Japanese and I can see they adore you actually!! Keep Streaming 💞
Thank you John for another interesting video. I was at this market few days after it opened and there was nothing to see. I am happy to see it looking like this now.
Thanks, John, for the great tour. I like pausing the video so I can practice reading the menus. I will visit Chiba and Tokyo at the end of April, and I want to have hiragana and katakana mastered by then...
First reaction prices did not seem unreasonable. Bit elevated, but consider the experience and ambience. Besides it's together in one place. Nice episode enjoyed.
Right, elevated but reasonable - but not good enough to get locals to visit. It’ll be tourists all the way, but location isn’t ideal. It’ll have to be the big draw which it isn’t.
Thanks for the tour John! Might be visiting Toyosu next month to see what all the fuss is about. Also..I had no idea Lavista is from Hakodate. As a broke student in Hakodate vacation then I couldn't afford to go stay there until I revisited a few years later. Indeed one of the best hotel breakfast in Japan.
Aw I love when you show us these places. Some things might be a bit pricey, but maybe the place makes it worth it, idk. 😅 Thanks for these livestreams, John! 🙏
This place (and the new fish market) is an underwhelming tourist trap. There are so many amazing places with awesome, reasonably priced food and without crowds in Tokyo.
Just visited there a few hours ago. We bought 7 small packs of 6 each of the strawberries, an awesome pair of seamstresses scissors where expensive knives, and a 600¥ refrigerator magnet of the period you described. Thank you John!
I love the whole area of the monorail. Last October I spent the day wondering around while we waited to take our overnight ferry to Tokushima in the late afternoon.
4:04 Unagi = YUM. Oh my gosh, I have been craving it since December, when I had it for the first time at the Omicho Market in Kanazawa. It was so delicious, I went back the next day for more 😋

missing a lot of streams recently; sorry been busy with work. rewatching your livestreams!
If I go to the TeamLabs Planets exhibit, then it makes sense to also come here. Is this open until late (after 5pm), or is it mainly in the morning like Tsukiji and Senso-ji? From what I've seen, most Street Food places (not including Izakaya) close relatively early.
Aloha 🤙 from Honolulu !! This is definitely new. It looks like they did a good job with it, but I don't think it is really for me. Thanks for the look around, though.
Hi John. Loved this walking tour livestream showing us something fresh and new. A friend of mine just flew out to Japan today. I'll let her know to check this place out. Hopefully she'll have time. Do you feel that events like this will start to be far and few if the yen remains or becomes weaker and residents are unable to support these businesses?
26:19 I’m so surprised your bike was not taken after leaving it for about half an hour. I cringed. Only in Japan. Any other country the bike would be gone 😮
This place looks really cool, and some prices might be a little pricey, but overall it doesn’t seem that bad. Especially considering that the world wide inflation. I’m really shocked when I watch videos of Japan with the food prices I just don’t even understand how some businesses can stay in business. I pay $15 for bowl of Ramen here in Florida. And I have no problem with it. I would imagine it would be about $10 in Japan, so when I see videos of Ramen for like four or five dollars it just blows my mind. Specially, with restaurants the profit margin usually is so slim.
Can you do a video soon on the tourist bans in Kyoto? I'm concerned whether I will be blocked off from otherwise very interesting areas just because of some badly behaved tourists
Likely will not visit there on my next trip. I try to avoid places that look like blatant tourist traps. I see how it feels when I watched Rion Ishida's video during the opening days.
@@onlyinjapanGO Maybe I will just walk around. A lot of areas to visit around Toyosu and Odaiba. I want to find local seafood restaurants in the neighborhood. Fisheries Terrace in Toyomicho looks good.
John, these places need to be authentic to be 100% successful. Very difficult to achieve. Doesn’t help to be buried in amongst modern skyscrapers. You have so many skilled contemporary architects in Japan, let them get involved. Example look at the sensational work by Hiroshi Nakamura the Meditation Pavilion to the Toshogu Shrine Juyosho associated with Uneo Park.
It will be a struggle, there’s not much around here - Tsukiji is central and walking distance from Shinbashi and Ginza, Tokyo Station in 20 min of foot. This - is gonna rely on bus tour groups I think.
If that place is too much a tourist attraction can you give me some spots in tokyo i can visit with less people and the food less expensive ? I will go with my wife in japan next month ?
Well, if I were a tourist 😉 I’m not so it’s important for me to say “make up your own mind” and check it out for yourself. I think I showed it all - kind of cool but feels like it won’t last. Too isolated from other areas of the city, lack of accommodations and other attractions although they could make more here.
Love the look, will pass on the price. thanks for the share! stay awesome!
That Lawsons on 1F looks not so bad 😂 for a picnic 🧺

It really has a mini-Kawagoe feel to it with similar crowds 😂
Right! That’s the authentic Edo Town!
amazing video wow Japan is beautiful and amazing. the food is delouses .

looking forward to experiencing this area...

I visited the shops in 1st Jan, when it was still not opened. It was pretty unique blend of traditional aesthetics in the middle of futuristic Toyosu.
It’s definitely interesting! I hope it can survive.
Great video!
Oh yes…who can forget Gus!…”Now THATS a fi-yah”!!! Lol! Loved that Eddie Murphy comedy! 😊

Ty for these POV like vlogs, i cant for now travel to japan to visit but you make it easy
Looks like a great place to experience good Japanese food🙂
Looks like I will check this out in !ay but I will make sure to be full before I head there 😂😂😂😂😂
Very nice place I’ve never seen this place before it was great too see you John
Mmmm food lovers paradise. Some of the inside places reminds me of Quincy Market in Boston. Fun
Except this one is completely built up to look old 😂.

Not sure this type of place is for me, but it's interesting to see anyway!
I would have gone to Lawson but me an okonoyaki and some karagee-kun. Yummy,
I kid you not i bought 14 ayu fish for lunch. The old lady was so happy and shock how many i ate. It was incredibly delicious.
How much can you eat?

It is. I guess that’s part of the draw. It’ll be interesting to see how this area grows.

Super tourist trap, with ripoff tourist prices.
The prices are reasonable!? Have you taken leave of your senses?
Some are, some aren’t. It’s about the same as other tourist places.
Likely will not visit there on my next trip. I try to avoid places that look like blatant tourist traps. I see how it feels when I watched Rion Ishida's video during the opening days.

Really cannot blame for their prices foot high due to the currency fluctuation against foreign currency... so cant to blame...

Shibamata. I liked it up there but it’s out of the way.
👍
Tourist Trap!!
Absolutely a tourist trap. 😂
A little bit un-Japanese.. (tourist trap comes to mind..)
Of course it is 😂 but it is an alternative. Residents of Toyosu nearby will go once and done. It’s about tourists.
@@onlyinjapanGO Sure. But i visited Japan several times and one of the many nice things i found was that the Japanese don't take advantage of tourist.
I tend to be a bit more forgiving of "touristy" places than John but this is dire. Would never go near here, everything about it is a turn-off.
