I'd say the vast majority of crashes are caused by motorcyclists doing 20-40 over the speed limit through congested areas and being surprised when somebody pulls in front of them suddenly. I daily rode an FZ09 through horrible south florida traffic full of geriatrics and people with no licenses and never had any close calls because I never acted dumb where the risk of somebody pulling out was.
Fun thing, The MT-07 is one of the best selling bikes in the UK. Makes perfect sense as there's barely enough straight lines for a powerful bike to stretch its legs, but the twisty short spurts of power are really fun here.

This is quite interesting to me, as I love the caféracer type of bike and it is completely backward lol! Caféracers would love to reduce the weight of their bikes by cutting the front and rear fenders, replacing the standard 2-people seat with a shorter one for one person, and replacing the handlebar with a pair of clip-ons to have a more aggressive riding position, ... Now I know that both the streetfighter and caféracer bikes first got their shapes due to riders' own customization of the sportbikes and standard bikes.
When I was a kid I had a miniature Triumph Daytona 955. I used to remove the fairing because I loved the way it looked without it. I didn't know that the Speed or Street Triples even existed.

No other class can do all of these things well, especially in my case where I need to park off road and that means moving the bike through a narrow gate, immediately ruling out all tourers / boxer engines. The new 1000cc Hornet, with its insane pricing (£9k for base model, £10k for SP model), proves your point about the comparative great values of these bikes relative to some other classes. The main point about this class, which is never really raised in manufacturer marketing, is that if you only have the funds or the space for a single bike and you want to do everything with it, from track, to touring, to commuting, to twisties then this is by far the best class. The first speed triple was litteraly a Triumph daytona crashed that someone used to convert with single headlight and rised handlebar. The Triumph shop loved it this much that it become the 900 Speed Triple T301. The genese of the 600 Mostro is different. It was to create a superbike position experience for a lower budget. The handlebar was quite low compared to some others street fighter. A good mention of the genre is the R1 Steel fighter. Yamaha did not have enough clip ons and fairings to ship enough R1 in France (and maybe europe). They created the steel fighter for this reason : Not even de-tuned, this bike is a very classic and rare R1 streetfighter from the factory.
I love naked bikes, my first bike is an SV650. But when i see streetfighters for sale where i live, usually that tells me somebody crashed their bike and didnt care enough to actually fix it. Maybe it isnt always the case, but man, i dont want to buy somebodies wrecked R6.
Me watching around 4:00 stimming tf out. Yeah R6's aren't comfy but they're one hell of a drug to ride. But I'm thinking about de-registering it, keeping it for rare track days, and buying a naked bike.
6:37 In Brazil a lot of people like naked bikes, they are way more present on the street than the "Carenadas". I don't know about the view of the regular guy in US about naked bikes, but here, where I live, it's the dream bike of a lot of children (Especially the 4 cylinders). It was for me too. i'm not a native english speaker so...Ignore any mistakes
Naked Bikes feels like it's dying, but god damn, it deserves more attention due to it's cheap price and Modifiable from Fairing Sport Bikes, Touring, until Offroad Bike.
I converted my 08 r6 into a street fighter style bike after some old guy hit me then ran 🤬 that bike was a tank with all I put it thru. I sold it and i miss it. I now own a Ducati 959 and it’s a good bike and all but I’m thinking ima grab me a naked bike for next season. The r6 is still riding around today. Was thinking of buying it back.
While I knew that people were making streetfighters by taking broken fairings off wrecked sports bikes back when I was a kid in the 90s and 2000s,I always assumed that bikes like Triumph Thunderbird, BMW R75/5, Honda CB750 Four, Kawasaki Z1, Suzuki GT750, etc. were the original naked bikes, and the sports bikes evolved from them by people putting fairings on them.
I hate how these have almost completely replaced standard motorcycles in the lineup. Now you have two options, some 800lb touring sofa, or these insect eyed uncomfortable cretans. Then they have the audacity to sell a standard motorcycle, call it "retro," and charge more for it. Except they're based on the nakeds so they're still uncomfortable, unbelievable.
Get a Versys 650, or Vstrom 650. They may be marketed as "adventure bikes", but my 09 Versys 650 is at heart simply a versatile street bike, and is very comfortable.
Just got my licens...And i lerned on a 2024 mt07... Hell of a bike to start on...(in a good manner) love the mt07 now...Not the bike i have (cause my back) but fun and can recommend
20 years ago I was riding a naked ZRX1200R and a gal I was dating rode a ZX-7R. They had the same hp, with the Ninja having a rad higher top speed. My naked ZRX would stomp it. It would walk away from anything that didn’t rhyme with ‘Busa.
I own one of them. You painted yours red. Mine is factory black. Bandit, by Suzuki. I do not need to modify it to make it look good. It looked good the day it left the factory.
Completely bias opinion, Honda 919s are dirt cheap for how much fun they are. Perfect to cruise to work during the week and hit the canyons in the weekend. Definitely considering a MT for my second bike. Styling and sounds got me.
I wanted an MT07 when they first came out, but I ended up with an MT09 as Australia only imported a restricted MT07 for the first couple of years. I love my MT09, but it's still arguably too much bike for a lot of situations... Hard to give up that 115HP though!
In Germany bikes who got build before '86 are the most attractive choice for extreme tuning projects. It's absolutely insane how much is allowed to do with these bikes especially in comparison to the streetfighter scene in Austria or Switzerland (those two countries have very restrictive laws in regards to bike tuning) In the US registred pre '86 full auto Guns bring ya alot of joy of freedom... The same can be said about pre '86 custom bikes in Germany.
I loved my FZ-10 it did so much including touring I always had a smile on my face when I got off of it. I went to an ADV bike and it’s not nearly as fun.
Very nice piece on bikes I've seen but did not understand. The closest thing I'd ridden was a 1985 K100RS, which due to all of the seating-handlebars-pegs issues was unrideable for more than a couple hundred miles.
Had an fz07, loved it. It was stolen. Bought an r6. Love it. Gonna get rid of it, though. Track bikes on the street just don't make sense to me. The tradeoff in comfort just isn't worth it. Probably an mt09 next. Should be great as well.
Owned an FZ-8 also. Such a sick bike. So much power, amazing sound throughout its whole range, the only downside was they didn't come outfitted with a steering dampener when they really should.
I love my MT-07. It's small enough for me to be able to man-handle it. It goes exactly where I want, easy to wheelie, great torque and not so big that I feel like going so fast that I might kill myself.
I think it all depends on the region. here in my country most people ride naked bikes, as full fairing bikes cost a lot and also they are usually for people with over 1 year with A1/A2 drivers licenes and they need to pass the test for the unlimited CC and HP bikes. Naked bikes are very popular in my country that is what I am saying
Honda Hawk GT NT650 came way before all the bikes you mentioned, arguably one of the first nakes bikes, also the Z1000 came before the fz8 or fz06 and was much closer to a streetfighter or naked than a fz1
Would you guys recommend a street bike as the ideal starter/1st bike? If so, what model? I really want to get into motorcycles and I think i’ll try for my license this upcoming summer, but I don’t know what to get. Based on the video and honestly just the looks, a streetbike looks like the best for a beginner, with a good blend of safety, speed, and fun.
Funny thing here in Brazil is that almost 95% of all motorcycles are either naked or trail/big trail, there are so few sportbikes. For every R6 you see theres at least 10 CB 650. And I personaly own a naked one as well.
naked are far more popular than sport bikes in europe as well, the most popular are crossover/large street legal enduro but naked are firmly in 2nd position for the most popular category.
I own a Speed Twin. 30 years ago I owned an FZR600. Completely different bikes until you ride them at 9/10 limit. The FZR was much faster and had better brakes and initial turn in. The Speed Twin stonks out of corners and that's about it. They are both very similar in performance. The Triumph looks and sound much nicer.
I currently don’t have a bike but I really like that class of bikes. I want something small nimble and economical to own. Bonus points if I can pick the bike up and maneuver it around myself. No reason bikes should weigh as much as super cars.
Physically lifting any street bike might be tricky. But the mt03 is a solid beginner naked which is light, nimble, fuel efficient, and Yamaha reliability

also, in France we learn on CB500 and mostly MT-07 for the our A2 riding licence, so most (young) guys buying a bike usually buy an MT-07, hence the popularity having learned on one, the torque, non-existent smoothness on the quick shifting and popping happy exhaust is really something compared to the Honda CMX500 I bought
Mv Agusta should have been mentioned in this video… European naked bikes like the speed triple, brutale, tuono, monster or streetfighter are still very popular where I live.

Respect to you riders, wowza ! You folks got skills and balls....
i really excepted to the video to keep going 😂 part 2 pls
0:10 I’m confused, did you get this backwards?!
He meant that the rear tire would spinout and rotate twice as much than the front
@@Fairexxor that by wheelieing the front tire would spin less
Definitely this option, @@ricky5054
Especially since he was doing a wheelie at that point in the vid.
underrated youtube channel
Great video man, I represent the nakeds with a 2024 MT-10
Indian Rider with FZ-S (150 cc, single cylinder) here. I had no idea that naked bikes were such an organic invention, while my bike isn't that powerful, it is still so fun to ride dude!
What a wall made, to the point, concise video! Well done, expected more views.
I liked the factual presentation of the video, very informative
This is easily my favorite class of motorcycle. No mention of the Suzuki B-King? A very unique looking street fighter IMO
I love naked bikes, my first bike is an SV650. But when i see streetfighters for sale where i live, usually that tells me somebody crashed their bike and didnt care enough to actually fix it. Maybe it isnt always the case, but man, i dont want to buy somebodies wrecked R6.
Restore one of mine, had it repainted, just for my friend to wreck it again 2 weeks later. The paint looked fantastic scraped up that drystone wall!
Thanks for the nice video. Does anyone remember the Yam. 600 Radian? That was another underrated bike. I have a lot of fun on the Radian.
Lovely video! I never knew how Naked bikes came to be.
Until the early 80s, most bikes were “naked”.
For example Honda CB750, CB900 bol d'or, Yamaha XJ 550, Kawasaki Z550.
Me watching around 4:00 stimming tf out. Yeah R6's aren't comfy but they're one hell of a drug to ride. But I'm thinking about de-registering it, keeping it for rare track days, and buying a naked bike.
Great video!
I signed up to the MT series Tracer. A comfy bike you can ride hard in the twisties, in the Alps for up to 10 hours at a time! Confirmed! :)
i own 2 636's and ive been thinking about an mt, this might've been the deciding factor lol
I love your story telling
I appreciate it
I hate how these have almost completely replaced standard motorcycles in the lineup. Now you have two options, some 800lb touring sofa, or these insect eyed uncomfortable cretans.
Then they have the audacity to sell a standard motorcycle, call it "retro," and charge more for it. Except they're based on the nakeds so they're still uncomfortable, unbelievable.
Triumph trident 660 still a good choice at a reasonable price, as is the cb650r
My naked is comfortable with a cheap aftermarket seat on it from eBay.
Motorcycle Scooters are a thing if you're talking about comfort
@@migz101199 get a tuned 180 cc gilera runner.
Awesome video man!
happy owner of Ducati Monster 620 from 2005 and I love that machine with all my soul and heart. Thing is wonderful hellish bike
Anybody know what the blue bike is at 5:50?
Honda cb300r, solid beginner bike. they also make the same bike as a 650cc or 1000cc
good video keep making em
oh my god i was just explaining the history of this to a friend. if i had known this video existed i would've just sent it to them lmao
20 years ago I was riding a naked ZRX1200R and a gal I was dating rode a ZX-7R. They had the same hp, with the Ninja having a rad higher top speed. My naked ZRX would stomp it. It would walk away from anything that didn’t rhyme with ‘Busa.
I remember the Suzuki Bandits coming out and incidentally the helmetof choice was a Simpson Bandit.
It'd be interesting to see a deeper dive into early streetfighter culture
I still miss my mt-07 but I’m keeping my xt tenere forever , there’s no bike I would rather have and I tried a few
In Germany bikes who got build before '86 are the most attractive choice for extreme tuning projects.
It's absolutely insane how much is allowed to do with these bikes especially in comparison to the streetfighter scene in Austria or Switzerland
(those two countries have very restrictive laws in regards to bike tuning)
In the US registred pre '86 full auto Guns bring ya alot of joy of freedom...
Me too coping about no R6.
Honda Hawk GT NT650 came way before all the bikes you mentioned, arguably one of the first nakes bikes, also the Z1000 came before the fz8 or fz06 and was much closer to a streetfighter or naked than a fz1
i’m the 500th subscriber🎉 congratulations
Appreciate it
In the UK these bikes are the go to, you see Hornets and Bandits everywhere.
They gotta give us Americans the hornet
First I tried sportsbikes, but ended with a much cheaper and much more fun Z900. So I agree.
Mt03, cb300r, or z400 are good choices. If you want used and a lil faster you can get an sv650
Awesome vid
Funny thing here in Brazil is that almost 95% of all motorcycles are either naked or trail/big trail, there are so few sportbikes. For every R6 you see theres at least 10 CB 650. And I personaly own a naked one as well.
Yeah and y’all are hitting coasters with 2 people on a bmw GS.
naked are far more popular than sport bikes in europe as well, the most popular are crossover/large street legal enduro but naked are firmly in 2nd position for the most popular category.
For me, there's only ONE naked bike: SV650
Brutally underrated
Amazing video
I miss my old FZ8 😭😭 it was my first sport naked bike, and such a good all around platform. Completely underrated!!
Neat presentation.
i have a 2004 cb 600f i love it
I own tracer 9 and 100% agree
Commenting for the TH-cam algorithm
I like your video
Super duke GANG couldn’t be happier with mine
I might get one at one point, have you had any reliability issues?
@@MidnightProject01 I had a motorized bicycle in high school. Built it and rode the heck out of it. Probably worked on it more than I rode it though lol. I’ve had a few bikes, all 250s and a 500. I just prefer smaller bikes. I don’t need to break land speed records, just want to enjoy some back roads on cheap transportation.
I think the lesser top-end speed also brings less life-threatening danger
2:08 that’s less than a mile from where I live.
2:46 you forgot the Buell S2 and S1. Definitely part of the streetfighter ethos.
also, in France we learn on CB500 and mostly MT-07 for the our A2 riding licence, so most (young) guys buying a bike usually buy an MT-07, hence the popularity
having learned on one, the torque, non-existent smoothness on the quick shifting and popping happy exhaust is really something compared to the Honda CMX500 I bought
MT-09 FTW
What do yall think about the yamaha fjr 1300 cc?
Mv Agusta should have been mentioned in this video… European naked bikes like the speed triple, brutale, tuono, monster or streetfighter are still very popular where I live.
After 5 different 1000cc supersports; I traded the R1 in for a Mt10 and never looked back. Only issue is it got the name Empty 10 because its always out of gas lol. also the stock mt10 seat is worse than sitting on a plank of wood.
only rode a 70cc bike when I was a kid, gonna get a fz 8 as my first if i can find one
Facebook marketplace is the way to go. Just make sure to ride responsible cause the fz8 is quite fast
“created by those daring enough to ride after an accident” *shows max wrist footage* that was diabolical LOL
naked bike: maintenance/tuning is faster, less plastic to get at the point. But also, foot pegs scratching the ground on a race track almost instantly.
Can confirm the footpeg scraping
@@MidnightProject01 got other footpegs and stiffer suspension springs. gonna try next time...
