  • Tenille Townes performs 'Where are You,' the Sound of Being Alone' at the 2023 Juno Awards
    The 2023 Juno Awards took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on March 13. Hosted by Simu Liu, it included performances by Tate McCrae, AP Dhillon, Tenille Townes, Alexisonfire, Aysanabee, Banx & Ranx, Preston Pablo, Rêve, Jessie Reyez, a special hip-hop tribute featuring Kardinal Offishall, Haviah Mighty, Michie Mee, Mel Boogie, Dream Warriors, Tobi, as well as a performance from Hall of Fame inductees Nickelback.

    She's really good. I love the album version. I really think it's top notch. But at the risk of stating the obvious, listening to her live is like listening to someone sing while being punched in the stomach... continuously... with a Cabbage Patch Kids doll.. on anti-depressants..
    The reason why eludes me.. "Is it the sound of self sabotage? Did it sound better in her garage? Or is it the lack of feed back? Who knows? I don't.. It's just the sound of smashing a doll.."
    Live does not have to be the same as the album.. and live does not have to be perfect.. I actually prefer quite a level of imperfection.. it makes things sound so much more real.. but this.. I find hard to explain..
    I hope she improves. There's so much potential. And great music.
