Pretty dang cool ! Back then before you joined a train you were given a list to take along (instead of wine and caviar lol. You had to know if you were traveling the northern route or the southern route beforehand, so the wagon could be be built with greenwood ( northern route ) or seasoned wood (for southern route) . Even if they were built exactly it made a difference because of wood swelling and drying to fast and causing cracking. If you didn't meet the requirements you weren't allowed to join, because you could risk the lives of others . Also you would decide if mules or oxen were used . Miles were faster but wouldn't last as long , oxen were slower but when an extra 500 miles .
Or the historical accuracy of medical treatment. 1850 is hard to pretend, no matter how good the intentions. Especially the opinions of people born after the atomic bomb.

Would love to see a map of their route. Planning trips like this, can be a major pain.
