I really enjoy watching what other homemakers buy. It's almost like sitting at the kitchen table and chatting while you unpack. So, I thank you for sharing. Now, may I say something? Please...don't apologize for what you buy. You don't owe us an explanation. It's your family, your money. (:
For beans I like to soak the beans overnight in water (room temp). Just enough water to cover the beans. Helps soften them or if I forgot to set them out overnight I atleast soak for an hour before cooking them. Then I put them in a pot with water and let them boil until soft. Keep adding water if need be until soft. Then in another pot I add some to tomato paste, some garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, homemade sazon, and get that "sautéing" and then add beans to that pot and cook them for a bit until you get the taste you desire. Feel free to add some cilantro or parsley in the last few minutes of cooking for some extra flavor. This is just the way I make it.
Make the girls some sopa de fideo it’s sooo good for the cold with the alphabet letters. And it’s easy to make, blend tomatoes, garlic, onion some chicken bouillon it’s the most simple way to make it.
Those cheap pasta noodles are for soupa de fideo!!! Omg. Boil some water, enough for the amount of pasta you want. Add salt, 2 cans of tomato sauce, and 2 tablespoons of chicken bouillon. Let it come to a boil then cook your pasta. My mom always added in corn potatoes and chicken. It’s soo good and fills you up and it’s perfect for winter!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I make a big pot of pinto beans in my pressure cooker all the time. Rinse well, add water an inch or two above beans, salt, garlic and 40 minutes till done. They freeze very well too.
You’ll see a lot of people say soak your beans beforehand. I never have personally lol. Just rinse them well and cover them with water. I add onion, garlic, and salt. All fresh! Boil till soft. I Feel like it takes forever when I do them but maybe cause I don’t soak them lol. Usually takes me 2-2.5 hours. But add your salt at the end! Like when they’re almost cooked.
Linda Casco You should try soaking them. It cuts the cook time by more than half. You don’t have to do them overnight though. A few hours will do the trick. 😊
Hi Great haul In India we do not get canned beans so we always rinse and presoak our beans for overnight or for about 6-8 hours, rinse them Again and pressure cook them ..with water enough to soak them .pressure cooking is the fastest method of cooking beans .you get cooked beans the make your regular dishes or you can even pressure cook with your required base like onions and tomatoes.
I watch many grocery hauls from all over the country but it's really nice to see a haul from a store I know. H E B. I also got the four bags of chips. H E B has so many great meal deals or buy one item and you get something free. And yes my grocery bill does increase during the holidays.

Wanna make Andres simple Mexican refríed beans? About 4 cups of dried beans in the crock pot. Full w water almost to the top. Add a stick of celery, one tomato in half, Two garlic cloves, half an onion and a Serrano pepper in half (won’t be spicy, it’s for flavor). Cover and cook for 8-10 hrs overnight. Next day, add your salt to taste. you can throw away the veggies or blend them in w the beans. After they’re blended take a bit of lard in a pan and add the the blended beans in there. And there you go.
A pressure canner! its 1/2 cup of dry beans, then fill the rest of a pint jar with water. A pressure canner is expensive but maybe you can borrow one from a friend for the day. I am always willing to lend mine out.
Cook beans in pressurecooker if u have one. 30min add enough water to cover. Add salt a bayleaf and a bit of oregano. I just rinse them well. Ibuy those same exact ones at heb. What i dont use i freeze and they taste fab👍
U can soak them for an hour before u boil them and when u start boiling them and one tea spoon of baking soda!.. yep works perfectly everytime!.. it will soften the beans very quickly
Be very careful to cook the beans completely because undercooked beans, especially kidney beans, contain toxins that can make you very sick/ can be fatal. Also there was just a massive beef recall so you might want to check just incase! Love the haul though!
More and more now the generic brands are tasting better than the name brands. I'm totally thrilled with the generic brand and quality of the product for the price!! 100%
Wash them and pick any bad beans and soak them overnight, when u cook them make sure they are covered in water and add a couple of garlic heads for them not to make you gassy and add salt and cook for about 45 min to 1 hour
Soak your beans in a pot of water overnight. Next morning pour out the water and refill, salt if you want and set to boil. I use dry beans to make jamaican rice and beans
Soak your beans overnight, toss the water, add more water and cook until soft. Season with salt, pepper, cumin and a sautee of onion and red pepper. Tips: for black beans add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda when they are almost soft but before seasoning, this will help with softening and also will reduce stomach gas. If you have a pressure cooker you'll reduce the cooking time by a half
I never soak my beans. I rinse them really well before cooking. I either use kidney beans or regular pinto beans when making chili beans. I just add everything for the chili including the dried beans. cook them and then when beansare cooked all the way I add cooked ground beef. I prefer cooking my own beans then buying the canned.

Make the beans in a pressure cooker. Don't add salt until the beans are soft.

Also If you wait to salt the beans it works better. Salt seems to make them take longer to soften
alisharow1 I probably should but I forget to lol!

Make sure to soak the beans over night, the cooking process will be easier.
Sort the beans for rocks, soak them in water overnight, cook them the next day on low with chicken or beef broth, garlic and your favorite seasonings.
Wash them and pick any bad beans and soak them overnight, when u cook them make sure they are covered in water and add a couple of garlic heads for them not to make you gassy and add salt and cook for about 45 min to 1 hour

Soak or else boil for 5 mins and drain the water, this helps eliminate the gasses from the beans lessening the effect for us. Supposedly.

Beef is on recall for salmonella 😷
It was one source and mostly sold at Walmart or Sam's in Texas. Unfortunately for me, we just had to toss some in the freezer.
Can you believe that in Suffolk County NY, we have to buy our shopping bags for 5 cents each,so i bring my own bags,so ridiculous.
same in Australia now too. Well in our state. 15c per bag or 99c for the reusable ones.
