- In this video Silver Libertad vs. Silver Eagle - Which Is Better To Stack? I go over the similarities of the coins and the differences to help you make the right choice for your stack. The american silver eagle is the bullion coin of my country and I prefer it for a number of choices, but the Libertad is very appealing as it has a numismatic feel to it. Nice video SB! I’m about 60/40 right now with Libertads being the 60%. With the 2021 Eagles on the way, it will be more towards 50/50 soon. I like Eagles for the lower premiums and liquidity. I like Libertads because I enjoy collecting and I believe they will rise in value more than Eagles in the years to come. Thanks again for more awesome content!

I'm with T on this one. I completely agree. I have more eagles than libertads but will be after more libertads to even up the ratio & balance it all out with low premium dimes & 10oz bars.
Agree 100% on the 20-coin tubes, more compact and less likely to tip over; ASEs are probably the dominant coin in my stack but its always good to diversify; I like the silver Krugerrands and Austrian Phils; Britannias, Libs, Maples, Pandas, eh, I guess I like everything.

@Silver Britches nice analysis, I agree, if they are the same price get the Libertads. Libertads are my favorite coins. If the premium is like $7-8 more for the Libertads vs the ASE, go with the eagles.
Yup that's my thinking.
Libertads have never let me down. Great for trading, flipping, profitable selling, & saved on buying 2020 1oz for $40 a piece got x13 & 2021 1oz proof for $85. I find good deals. I also got a good deal on a 1/10oz gold libertad about $230 worth $300. I'll continue stacking libertads. I've traded libertads for a kilo then traded kilo back for the same amount of libertads & got even better libertads then the ones I had prior including a 1987 proof.

Like you said the key to stacking libs is to get them when they drop. This is my first year stacking so I went in on them and got a couple of different sizes and it looks like it'd going to pay off. I even grabbed a couple of those 1st strikes. Eagles are boring but easier to dump but since I only stsck 80s and 90s Eagles it will be a while before I let go of those. Good vid 👍🏽

I’m gonna be brutally honest as always... I have bought little to none of either this year. The premiums just didn’t turn my head. The Libertads are a far better flipping option due to the mintages. I just went in a different direction this year. Stack on brother👊✌️

Great video! I stack the ASE and collect the Libs. The lower mintages and different varieties of the Libertad make it more interesting for me.
Lib varieties add some fun to stacking. The lib market wasn't always this hot.
I like the 5oz libertads due to their low mintage. I like to stack variety ASE Maples Libertads Koalas Philharmonics....I try to create balance with variety.
Nothing wrong with that Paula. I diversify with maples also.
For me Eagles are great for stacking. And Libertads are nice for collecting or in this year's case, speculating. I'm not a collector but I do like a flyer on a flip.

The Libertads this year, have the added benefit of an immediate boost in value as soon as they sell out at the dealers.

I stacked Eagles but went all in 2 or 3 years ago on Libertads. I still buy Eagles but not liked used to. So...im a Libertad guy. But I like @Donald In New Mexico response. Also @Rocky superstar turned me on to Hero Bullion and I've been very happy with them. I liked your comparisons and you are correct. I haven't seen a video like this. Great job buddy.

Libertads come in a much larger variety. Half ounce proof, two ounce, two ounce proof, five ounce etc... Eagles are great but I'm having more fun stacking tads.
Libs are extremely fun. So many options.

Eagles all the way. I have a few Libertads but they are just the ones I have come across at my LCS. Getting the Eagles right now is getting just as difficult although I'm picking up a half tube from my LCS on Thursday at $34 per. Someone actually sold him 2 tubes of 2021s today. Just goes to show you that you shouldn't spend the rent money on your stack. Be smart folks. Stack em high and deep y'all!

American Silver Eagles for me. I'm in the US and also, they are essentially recognized world wide. It is good to have Libertads in the stack but I wouldn't focus on those over eagles. I think someone would have a lot more invested per ounce if they had the Libertads over the eagles. Thanks SB!

As you know I of course stack Eagles but I'm done for now. Yes I managed to score 5 yes only 5 one ounce silver Libertads from money metals exchange. For 31 bucks each. Then scored a 5 ounce. I think I'll be more focused on Libertads now. Happy new year buddy.

I have a few Libertads. Most of my silver stack is Eagles with a growing close second being generic bullion. I don't own any gold libertads, though maybe I should buy one just to have it.

Wow this was a great vid britches. Real good job. I would say stack the libs ONLY IF U CAN GET THEM FOR THE SAME PRICE as eagles. Otherwise get eagles. I dont really stack eagles but if i had to choose then thats my answer. It does suck that they both milk spot. I dont understand why they cant change that and fix it like canada did with the maples. I dont want to spend $10 premium on a coin thats going to potentially spot because typical it will loose alot of its premium at that point. Happy holidays

Appreciate your thoughts on the libs vs. ASE and why you might stack one or the other. I'm not a fan of premiums on anything, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when it comes to stacking!

Would say depends on what type of coin you need, high premiums for more of a hedge, the Libertaads, for regular stacking with a little bit of long term premium, The Eagles, and if you're made of money, you could get a bit of both might be wise.

Have to buy the Libertad early. I have several from 2018. Do not be afraid to buy the coins. Buying 2021 MS70 Eagles now. Easier to keep secure in the case.
I try to avoid the slabs.
I only stack libs to flip. There are a lot of die hard libs fans out there. I don’t sell eagles very often, but I try to flip libs as soon as I get them bc of premium. Another great video Merry Christmas 🎄🥳

Are Mexican stackers getting Libertads at a fair price, or do you stack Eagles, too? I haven't heard from anyone from Old Mexico on here, but I am curious what our brothers and sisters in Mexico are stacking! Greetings and Feliz Año Nuevo from Sur de California!
Well considering they can get them straight from the bank of Mexico I'd assume libertads.
To be fair, for most people that is the only choice that is easier to get as you just got to some banks and they sell them to you, and if you are buying a lot you may be marked and get robbed, you never know. Eagles are only bought in some places, but still comparing both coins in terms of price eagles libertad are cheaper due to tax import on eagles and libertades you can only get them in Mexico City and San Luis Potosí if you are not there you need to ask for mail delivery and if you want insurance that’s extra, they only ship within Mexico. Eagles are cheaper, libertades only if you are in Mexico or near the border.

I live in South Korea and I collect Maples because they are less expensive.... Eagles have a huge premium. Sometimes I can find Libertads for the same price as Eagles so given the choice between the two I always select the Libertads.

As time goes on, I realize I'm a rare breed. I don't stack either. In fact, and here comes the hate mail, I only own one ASE, and it was a gift. Though I find them both appealing. Of course, the Libertads are sexier in my opinion.

Silver eagle's are like a philly cheese steak. I live in the US and can eat that anytime I want. Every now and then you want a torta pastor hence the Libertad. It's something you just develop a taste for. Both are satisfying britches. Remember variety is the spice of life with food and bullion.

I'm new to all this silver collecting. I don't understand why there is a difference at all if they are both new, or fairly new, and each the same amount of silver.
Yes it's confusing. The libertads are a hybrid and therefore go up in value over time. The eagle's are just bullion and are subject to spot variations.
Being on the west coast Libs are a better flip.

Libertads and Eagles are both historic bullion coins. The Libertad first came out in 1982, the Eagle came out in 1986. The Libertad features the Angel of Independence, which is more than a statue, its a mausoleum in Mexico City. Heroes of Mexican independence are buried under the Angel of Independence like Father Miguel Hidalgo and Father Jose Maria Morelos together with the 1st president, Guadalupe Victoria and 2nd president of Mexico, Vicente Guerrero. Type 1 design of the Eagle is historical, featuring 13 states for the 13 English colonies that evolved into the US.
Eagles are better for the weight but libs are a must. The right tarnished libertad will fetch a high premium. The years for the original 1oz balance is 1949, 1977 and 1978.

Question if I can get Libertads and Eagles for the same price what would you buy? I have a place that sells them for the same price when they have them in stock. My thought is the Eagles since I can liquidate them for more money at the LCS. Know in thinking that might be bad move maybe on the private market you make more selling libs? Thoughts?

I stack American Silver Eagle's.
I have only 2 Libertads, and about 20 of the other Mexican coins. I want more of the Mexican Silver Libertads and other Mexican coins. Unfortunately the premiums are just to high.
If it weren't for the high premiums, I would have a lot more American Silver Eagle's. Instead, sometimes you have to go with lower premiums
I like the Libertads more, but I think the Eagles are better to stack. The ASE's are the prototypical bullion coin.
Nothing special about eagle's, they're just liquid!
The same can be said of eagles in Canada. It's more expensive to buy a silver eagle than a silver maple leaf.
Tax implications as well.
Both coins are great Silver Britches. However, I would prefer the American Silver Eagle over the Mexican Silver Libertad. Here's why. The eagle is easily recognizable when you sell it and is the most popular silver bullion coin. It has a face value of $1. The Mexican Libertad has no face value. Some have argued that the Libertad on this fact alone should be not considered a silver bullion coin but a silver round.
Libertads are in fact coins.
Silver Eagles because they are the most recognizable.

Here are some reasons I do not like American Silver Eagles. The design is the same until 2021 when they changed the design and incorporated security features. I wish they had done this a while back as the silver eagle remains the most counterfeited silver bullion coin. Secondly, silver eagles may not be the best monetary option. This is dependent on your location. In Europe, eagles are really expensive. It makes more sense if you are stacking to buy philharmonics or Britannias (if in the UK)
I avoid both because of milkspots.
Not long ago new libertads had a similar premium as eagles, maybe $1 more, thats the reason I have more libertads than eagles.
If they're the same price where you buy them, grab the tads

Ever since salivate metals pointed out how the eagles are flawed around the rim. One side thinner then others. I notice it now. Libertads for me!
Eagle's are minted in the millions yearly. Libertads are the hybrid but milkspot more than Eagle's. Better to find eagles and libs with defects already. Just my two cents.
@@SilverBritches that's the other reason I don't really care for eagles. Minted in the millions/poor quality control. Yes they are a must have but I feel nothing when I look at them. No rarity. Won't buy damage goods like milk spot. I want beautiful. Easier resale in the long term. I'm more of a collector stacker. Enjoy what I have.
I can definitely relate to that. I try to keep my collector side subdued as much as possible.
Both make up my foundation. The Libs are legal tender south of the border so I keep a bunch of them just incase I need to high tail it Mexico!

I had to pay tax on the Libertads I just picked up. At first I thought it was a mistake but then I realized that it is not an American coin so it added about 3.50 to each coin. It sucked getting robbed for almost 10% right out of the gate. But I was able to pick up 10 of them last week I got them into protective cases asap. Something about that naked lady. Lol
Tax on bullion is ridiculous. Our money is supposed to be silver and gold per the constitution and taxing it is unconstitutional if you ask me.
My LCS dealer took 20 off the premium for me on a 2020 1oz proof. I swept it up quick.

A nice set of Mexican cans any day of the week. The new ASE design is awful.

Here are some other reasons why, Silver Britches. The silver eagle is legal tender and is tied to Us dollar. The same cannot be said of the Mexican Libertad. It is not tied to the Mexican peso although it is made by the Mexican mint. The Libertad may not be accepted at some banks. The American silver eagle can be used as an IRA instrument and savings towards retirement. I am not sure whether the Mexican Libertad can.
The libertad can be in Mexico.
folks , the best is maple leaf ....very EASY to sell BACK , much cheaper than ASE and lib , high security feature and new anti milk spotting technology

sometimes u can get them for price of a eagle at a LCS.... sometimes even price of a generic round... then flip em on ebay... but not me and I bet 90 plus percent of people will not part with a libertade
They don't brother. Once sold out they're hard to find. Around here it's impossible unless they're jacked up.
Silver Eagles are better than Libertads because they have lower premiums. The premiums on Libertads are crazy. They are both bullion coins except the Libertad does not have a face value. The Libertad has many different sizes whereas the Eagle comes in 1 standard size - 1 oz only. They are both 3 9's fine. The Eagle has a security feature, the Libertad has no security feature.

@@SilverBritches Not at all-- heard that preference before. The Angel of Independence has changed and will likely keep changing. If you go far enough back, she disappears entirely and becomes a giant nugget with "Libertad" chiseled at the base. LOL

I was worried about that too. Thats why i made vids just showing some of my bullion and coins here and there but i didnt talk or show my face. Just recently i made my 1st vid where i talked. I just said screw it. The chances of somone recognizing ur voice and also knowing where u live is sooo slim. Then it would also have to be a person that has the balls and the stupidity to try and rob u. I say just do what makes u happy and dont let things like that stop u. U only live once.
