Very nice boat houses. I live in Asia 14 years. From Norway. This was a great idea. Would like to make something similar just from South Norway coast. Many nice places and boathouses. Made me miss Norway and den svenska sjøgården. Thank you for the video.
Very nice tutorial Martin. We will make the same for our Skævinge Modeljernbane here in Denmark. We are making a copy of the railroad Hillerød-Hundested from the 1940-60's ! In Hundested Harbor those houses is used for Galleries, pottery and so on.
In the early 1980s I was with my parents on a camping tour across scandinavia and we had slept in cottages in north Norway near Tromsö near the Ramfjord in small cottages similiar to your boat houses. Tack sa mycket for the flashback and the great build!
Wow, Thank you, Thank you very much. Your little boathouse sheds remind me of a visit to Skanors Falsterbo, South of Malmo. Perfect representation of the COLOURS of the huts that stand there. A happy visit. Just one question...at the point you show the guiding light (minute one) the wooden triangle points upwards, but then you proceed to model the wooden triangle pointing downwards (minutes eighteen and twenty).....does the direction in which the triangle is pointing have a different meaning, if pointed down or up. Do the sailors have to take a different course? Please just say. A very entertaining video as always. Thank you. I am eagerly awaiting the future episodes of the beginners layout from scratch build in 2021
Servus. LG Tino
Hi from England. I'm currently building a layout of Katajanokka docks in Helsinki, around 1950, so these videos of sea related modelling are great. Thanks for the inspiration and have a great day!
As usual, another informative and entertaining video. I enjoy your channel, even though I am not a Model Railroader - I am just intrigued and appreciate your talents and abilities. Thank you.
This is so impressive! Your work was just beautiful and the way you made the lifesaver and light were incredible. Thanks for sharing these unique and helpful ideas. This was great to watch.
Excellent indeed. I was wondering if you have or could tackle a real LIVE overhead catinery system to use with a live locomotive Pantograph. Now that would be interesting. Thankyou. John.
The guiding lights you are talking about are called leading lights ;) and they are typically placed in pairs. One high and one low in front of it, so a ship can adjust its heading to steer 'into' the leading lights, taking things like current etc. into in account. As long as the leading lights are in line, the ship is moving towards the intended course and thus entering the port :)
Very nice video, it would be cool if you could leave one of the doors open and do a small interor of the shed and the pipes you need to lead away the rainwater. Keep up the great work with videos, very inspiring for my future layout.
So you asked about similar structures in the US for boating - lots of harbors have small storage lockers in their small boat areas but nothing like what you modeled. In many places the term “boat house” refers to a structure over the water that a boat is actually parked or stored in. Keep up the great work!
In the USA we use sheds . Boat house are like newengland area & Maine . In Ohio we use sheds with barn style roofs & picnic tables pop ups with roofs for shade . Its like a hang out area by the boat docks .
How's she goin' and hello from Nova Scotia, Canada!!! Great job!!! You sure have a gift for modelling!!! You make them so life like and your attention to detail is nothing short of terrific!!! BTW here in Nova Scotia we call those buildings a 'sea shanty'. The 'light' you built, well we call those range markers!!! I sure like watching you create models. Looking forward to your next video!!! Take care!!!
Nice harber. Maybe een typical sweedisch motorboat would be in place. e.g. Storebro. Maybe you could try to make a 3d print of it. and offer those up to sale. Would defiantly make you some profit. I tried it in the past with balsa wood, but failed twice.
A common form of 'leading light' for guidance into a harbour is a sector light, though I'm not sure if they exist outside of the UK, plus they might be harder to model. A sector light is just a single light that works basically on a similar principle as the PAPI lights often seen at airports, i.e if lined up correctly on the deep water channel/entrance to the hanbour the light is white, to far to left and it's red, to far to the right and the light is green. These lights usually flash rather than being steady and are positioned relatively high so that they are easier to spot amongst any other lights around.
Looks great ! Dont think i ever have seen that kind of buildings being built in ho. But where are the seagulls ? Thats your next video, isnt it ?how to make those seabirds....Thanks !
Great video !!! I've noticed in several of your videos the mirror finish on your track. How is this accomplished ??? I'm cleaning my track several times a year.
That looks like a chunk of Formica composite countertop. Am I correct in that? Also, is it not possible to use polystyrene straws for support of a light fixture?
Hi Martin, again great footage for detailing by handmade stuff! "BIG LIKE" Kindly regards from a german friend of this kind of works "DER Z-CRACK" Modelrailroadvideos in scale Z (1/220)
Hi Martin, As always a well done and most enjoyable tutorial. This one in particular since I need to build some boathouses on the waterfront of my 'AnneliesVille RR'. Where do you buy the 'Northeastern scale Lumber' products ? Thanks for sharing your fine skills salted with miles of smiles. And I owe you so a donation is my pleasure! Greetings from France. Filip
Hi, a nice job, but: 1:10 a real leading light - the triangle points up, the lantern is above it; 20:10 a model - the triangle points down, the lantern is below it. Why?
Alguien sabe algo k sea parecido? Gracias
Channel called Model Railroad Hobbyist Magazine and video is Scenery Techniques posted for February 2020. This is the video about multiple pictures from background forward and combining them to get a picture that is focused all the way through. I told you wrong in the comments in your video about taking the picture of the car model on the diorama outdoors. Sorry. Nice little buildings in this video. Didn't you make the guide light upside down? Or are they made both ways? 👍
Hi there. We are building a layout for a primary school. The trains run for about 4 hours in the morning without human control. The area is 3 by 3.5 meters. My question: are long cars or long locomotives suitable for this or do they derail rather than short cars?
If I ever go to Sweden maybe I can visit you,and show you some of my train pictures...not as nice as yours but still. Unless of course you accept email.

Another masterpiece from you. Good soldering skills, too. Thank you!
Hej Hej, It reminds me of Smögen (9648+6W Smögen, Schweden), lovely village in sweden. Best seafood ever. THX for the great tutorials.
Thanks for the inspiration! I built three houses for my N-scale habour.
You sir are the Bob Ross of model building. It is so enjoyable to watch you work. Great tutorial!
I was with you all the way along until we got to the light NOPE....hahahaha great job you always surprise me.
I appreciate anyone who uses Vernier calipers!
Thank you! The world has gone insane. I'm going to pretend everything is fine and watch this video and probably a few more. Peace

Another excellent video Martin, I look forward to the next video.
We have alot of them around the wharfs in Prince Edward Island, the fishers (lobster) use them for bait storage.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial!

I need a hobby to get me through the pandemic lockdown. Just trying to decide between model railroading and paint-by-the-numbers.
Pretty awesome! I enjoyed the video and learned some stuff. Have a great weekend. - Drew

*FALURÖD* The ultimate color. :) I use diluted Falu rödfärg to paint Swedish houses, it works just fine.

Great video But is the harbor light not opsite down ??
Hi, a nice job, but:

20:10 a model - the triangle points down, the lantern is below it.
Why?
I prefer to think of this as a free video platform.
Great video as usual, however I notice that you do not have any way for the people to get from the dock to the water/boat. A ladder would serve well
Writing Trygg Hansa must have been a challenge ;)
Perfect!

Can you do a train scrap yerd
I don't get the LED bit. Those two wires looks like they touch each other, so why does it work? That confuses me!
They are not bare copper, they have a clear lacquer coating for isolation.

Imponerade jobb med fyrstolpen.
what was the reason behind chamfering both edges of every end piece? it just made gluing them together more difficult...
Just a simple mistake.. Nothing else 😄
