Sorry to say guys but video is wrong. He should NEVER be standing and staying in his starting position as runner is running down the line. He needs to pivot into the infield with a 90 degree angle to the throw.
The mechanics on this are Wrong, Wrong, Wrong! Force Out at 1st base, the umpire must move to fair territory to get a better angle and avoid the runners path. And as for position B, you always stay in FRONT of the fielders, not behind! WTH!
@@jhawver you stand out in the cut of the grass out of the way. Honestly around here though it never comes up all of 60ft diamond games have just one ump. I just know that’s how little league teaches it too. Look it up its pretty common.

I think this video was just meant to demonstrate the calls. The same guys have other videos where they demonstrate proper Fielding and rotations

New mechanic is to stay near (a step or two inside) the line so that it is easier to see pulled foot.

On a 60ft diamond you are not inside the bases. It’s too small. But at 65 feet and above you are.
