actually, after the parry there are 2 things that can happen. 1) your opponent gasps for breath but is still standing 2) your opponent is lying on the ground in the first scenario, you get 1 attack to drop them to the ground and then one free hit before the final blow. so you can iai them twice, and then final blow (or high stance light attack and then iai -> final blow, or what i do, walk a bit back, high stance heavy into iai and then final blow) in the second scenario you get just 1 free attack and then the final blow. so just iai and then final blow. this is true for any time an opponent is out of stamina and/or in the ground. yokai behave in just about the same way if you manage to throw them to the ground (say you break the horns of the yoki dudes)
There is 1 more situation in newest version. After being haze II they not take any breath. They took that hit like it normal and then immediately hit you back. U can see him still full charge iai. With me, even with perfect ki pulse fast iai, they just eventually stop my charging or able to block my iai
Thanks for your compliment. Regarding about that tachibana, in this video I am already overleveled while fighting against him so the damage on him is not suppose to be that huge. To defeat Tachibana, is to deplete his ki as much as possible, and to go in for the kill when his ki is depleted. Assuming the katana parry combo is not working on this guy, using a katana I will just go in, 2 hits, and go out using mid-stance. This is because he will sure block the 2nd hit, but at least blocking your attack will deplete his ki a little. When his ki is depleted, a quick attack will stagger him, leaving him open for any upcoming attacks. Then use your quickdraw to hit him, and deal a final blow when he's on the ground. Do another 2 quick hit using low stance when he is waking up and dodge away. Normally I will dodge his attack instead of blocking but if u feel like he is going to hit you, your L1 should be ready to block as soon as you finish evading. Other than that you need to study his attack patterns and see how u can dodge his attack, especially his quickdraw. th-cam.com/video/2miT0_kIOWU/w-d-xo.html This is my video of fighting against him in NG+ mode, and hopefully can give you an insight of what his attack patterns look like.
Hi Everyone! I just want to say thank you for watching ! If you have trouble in getting the timing for the parry right , I've made a new video here to help you get it right. I hope it helps you ! th-cam.com/video/P8PgEJEF2Vo/w-d-xo.html
Got a few things for ya. After depleting their ki with haze, you can land a quickdraw, then press and hold r1, and then press o to chain another quickdraw. So if you want to maximize damage on parry, then landing two consecutive quickdraws would be better than flash attacking. Much better. The other thing is that quickdraw 2 doesn't make the attack take longer, it just adds another charge stage. Quickdraw 1 is ready the instant your' sheathe glows. There is also a fast draw that you can let out before the first charge stage. Which is extremely useful for enemies getting too close while you are charging. You can combine the 3 charge stages to create infinite and varied quickdraw combos, such as full draw/pulse/fast draw/pulse/mid draw/pulse/fast draw, etc. Or you can wait until the enemy starts their attack animation to let off the charge. You will always beat a human enemy in attack speed, so you can shut down their offense with delayed quickdraw combos. If they don't attack, then they eat a ton of break from a full draw, and you can keep the combo going till they drop their guard. (This method perfect kills lvl 750 revenants in seconds.) Also, if you use kato and armor of the exceptional(mixed with warrior of the west if you have the divine megatama), your' quickdraw will do almost double damage, making it stronger than final blows. I can get three mid draws off after a parry, one when they break, one when they fall, finishing blow, and another on wake-up. Mine do 50k damage buffed with carnage and weakness when attacking from behind, even more when their prone. 9-11k when attacking from the front.
I see. To me when the enemy is lying on the ground, my final blow deal more damage compare to my 2nd long quickdraw, that's why I use final blow more often. Your 2nd quickdraw deal more damage than the final blow is because of the gear you wearing. Thanks for the info though, I will definitely will try the infinite quickdraw, sounds very interesting. PVP is coming up so if you see my online, please go easy on me lol.
I can't wait for PVP. No idea how its' going to work though. Their going to need to either drastically decrease how much damage players do to each other, or give each player as much life as muneshige and yi have, because I one shot revenants my level with just backwave and tempest. Which reminds me, tempest does about the same damage as haze, with the advantage of being pretty much risk free. As long as you make sure you're never late on the timing, you'll just block instead of eating a hit if you mess up. Backwave has a slightly slimmer window than haze, but I think the absence of risk makes up for it. One other thing about parrying with either of them, is that second hit parries work in Nioh. So if a revenant or boss combos into your' guard, you can use parry or backwave on their second swing. This nearly guarantees a successful parry, and takes most of the guess work out of it. You might have to delay the parry a bit since they don't always follow up right after they bounce off your' guard, but this makes parrying mid/low stance revenants and stuff like ninjas WAY easier. Oh, and if you prefer haze, remember that it is effected by the spears thrust damage passive. IIRC, its' about 12% more damage. If you really want to up your' parry game, you can always use the kusarigama for what is basically a ranged parry playstyle. If you use the high stance kusari hook like its' a parry, you are guaranteed to snag them during their attack animations. The high stance hook then combos into the high stance trip, which is an instant knockdown that they can't dodge after being high stance hooked. Then you can use the blade uppercut, finisher, and blade spin on wakeup for monstrous and unstoppable damage that works on every human enemy that can be hooked, which is any enemy that can be parried. I no longer use this method because I considered it to be obscenely overpowered, and its' unsportsmanlike effectiveness made the game too easy for me. Made even worse by the kusa's most powerful skills being useable during living weapon, blade spin and reaper. That might not be the case for everyone else though. Fun note, if you parry kusa hooks or weight throws, it pulls them to you and carries out the animation. Final note, water shadow sucks shit. You probably already know that. Maybe shinkage style makes it not garbage... but I doubt it. Might still try it. Oh yeah, if you make a quickdraw build, remember that the low stance quick step dodge skill is your' best friend when fighting yokai, and remember to sheathe your sword whenever you drop the combo. The first draw comes out way faster when you don't have to sheathe your' sword first.
Thanks for the info. To me, katana is still the easiest weapon for me to use. I tried kusarigama but I really do not like it. I heard a lot of about kusarigama being a very powerful weapon but it really does not suit me.
I feel the same. Kusa just feels too easy, and the playstyle gets stale fast. I just made an infinite tornado combo build with the spear that is the strongest build I have made so far though. Same armor with 30 omyo, Kato, weakness, carnage, protection, lightning weapon, and guardian talisman. I use protection to deflect the first hit from bosses, tengu, and onyudos, then one shot all but the bosses with tornado. I use spear stance change/fluidity mystic art to keep a constant assault of tornados going with kicks and spearfalls mixed in as needed. There's so many constant hits coming at human bosses that they can't even move because of the stunlock. Just perfect killed ng+ muneshige and Li with it. It kills mega Onryuki with 3 tornados too. What's even more insane is that tornado almost instanly inflicts elemental status. So I pop kato with a talisman then inflict instant confusion status for even more damage. This build seems to drastically outdamage even fully geared suzaku builds. Feels like I'm playing as an actual tornado.
normally i will do a low stance 2 hit quick attack, coz sometimes doing a high stance attack after the final blow it's a bit risky as it is slow. Because of that I got hit when the enemy is waking up. I only use high stance when I am confident that I am not getting hit.
You can get two Iai's out, actually. :) This is my go-to combo for bosses. Parry, x2 Iai (with the Ki pulse, to charge it almost immediately, obviously.)
In the beginning you said that it only works on humans, but it works on skeleton warriors too, immediately making them a pile of bones. I actually can parry the skeletons better since they don't use stances like humans
I just can't get that square second time after parry. With dual sword parry no problem but with katana ... And most damage I have on my katana ... I'll keep practice

Why is it that when I try this bullshit on the bullshit duel with the bullshit guy with the bullshit spear, after I succesfully parry him he's already in his fucking attack animation and fucking stunlocks me to fucking death ?
I LOVE how you sheathe your sword after every fight. I DO THAT TOO! I know it has no practical purpose... just need to feel bad-ass.
Maybe not practical to the game, but definitely practical to actual Japanese swordsmanship. (^^) Just look at Iaidō.
You spelled "weeb" wrong.

Amazingly good parry video. Good job.
What about backwave tempest?
In the beginning you said that it only works on humans, but it works on skeleton warriors too, immediately making them a pile of bones. I actually can parry the skeletons better since they don't use stances like humans
That......is for them to discover themselves lol. But those are the only yokai type that can be parry, the others can't be parry.
this is somehow beautiful..nice video bro
Thanks for the compliment!
I still can't get the backwave 2 timing correctly. Any tips?
backwave 2 as in push the opponent's down? when u depleted the opponent's ki, hold L1 and it will trigger the animation to push your opponent down.
Nicely done and thank you ! :)
Thank you for watching!
exelente video hermano, saludos desde cali colombia !!!

I just can't get that square second time after parry. With dual sword parry no problem but with katana ... And most damage I have on my katana ... I'll keep practice
Probably unrelated, but what's your build? I'm curious how a Katana manage to deal 2000 damage.

Such a bummer that Haze II was nerfed. Unnecesary really.
which is better for this Lai quickdrawn or tiger sprint?
So far what I heard Iai quickdraw is an OP skill, so i recommend Iai quickdraw.
Nice tutorial!
try this; parry, then instead of iai strike hit then when your opponent on the ground use iai strike and then final blow and high stance strong attack...
Then what should I do in when my opponent is still standing while recovering his ki? Please advice.
How the fuck are you parrying low stance dual swords!? Dat reaction time..
More like predictability instead of reaction time lol. Normally when you get close to your opponent, 75% of the time they will start attacking first. So I was betting on that.
I want to use Tempest more because the feeling and look of overpowering and opponent is so cool, but alot of the time when I break the guard, they just fall to the ground. Is there a more effective way to do this?
JonX Fc Try to get a weapon stat for extending parry time. Best bet
Ethan Donnelly That sounds like it'll help even better, I finally managed to get it down after two weeks of practice haha
JonX Fc I havent gotten any parry down to be honest.
I can half do it against swords but all bets are off for everything else.
I could really use that particular weapon stat myself
I've successfully done this on skeleton warriors ... are you sure?
shhh.....that is for them to discover themselves.....but other than the normal skeleton warriors, the other yokai cannot be parried.
Wooow nice
Nice video man, this really helps.
I can do the parry fairly easy now but that quickdraw fail alot somehow and i end up sheating the weapon xD.
Thanks
that remember´s me on assassins creed, half city to death parried :D but i know nioh is not so easy to parry like in Assassins cheat
The haze 2 parry works on human sized yokai as well.
Human size such as the normal skeleton warrior, but not the large one. Other than those, all yokai can't be parried.
Haa,that's old I have new combo that kills any boss with it
Why is it that when I try this bullshit on the bullshit duel with the bullshit guy with the bullshit spear, after I succesfully parry him he's already in his fucking attack animation and fucking stunlocks me to fucking death ?
