She only needs 1k bonus xp to go from level 1 to promote. The max bonus xp by chapter 13 completion is a little over 3 thousand if you don't -do the- sneak on the sneak mission and don't take off units on those take-less chapters. 1/3rd all bonus xp to gain mini titania with a bow. What else do I have to say.

Having only watched this and not the full recordings it's hilarious to hear Mangs go from "Oh this unit is great and we'll use a lot" to "This unit is a 2 star at best but we need them because [4 or 5 star character] died"

@riley Jackson ike definitely can’t take ashnard solo in maniac and you need a pretty stronk one for hard (not counting wrath resolve or lucky aiether)

If they had the brains to use Brom and have an Armored General they might not have a 75% all characters dead bench. healers on maniac are just as important as generals. Especially with provoke, as long as flyers aren't in range he will 0 damage take all the ballista attacks.
I stopped watching @ 23:37 A lot of egregious errors but the biggest one was giving Soren 4 stars and Ike 3. I feel like your priorities are as such: 1. No investment = 5 stars 2. No range or Canto or alternate weapons = 3 stars 3. Noncombat utility = 4 stars 4. Makes the gameplay faster = 4-5 stars You also vacillate between saying the game is easy and choosing whatever makes maniac mode easier. I also notice that you highly rank units that aren't viable for the final chapter(s) and lowly rank units that use growths to dominate the final chapter(s). Beyond this, I think it's fair to say that you value growth and base stats incorrectly. Growths can only be checked against chapters used. Bases only matter against 'growth per chapter.' Since you mostly glossed over this fact, it's safe to say that this guide is of lower utility. You simply cannot rank character's base & growth stats without accounting for their availability. A high growth unit that joins at chapter 25 is quite different than a low growth unit that joins at chapter 1.
You complain about laguz transformation woes in battle but prefer Mordecai to Lethe, even though Mordecai takes FOREVER to transform. And Lethe isn’t untransformed for long. She’s more reliable with her speed and dodge in battle if you ask me. She also still hits like a truck and almost guaranteed gets double hits. I swear Mordecai takes like 10 turns before he’s useful unless he has a laguz stone. You could give him a Laguz band to keep him in form, but cmon, Muarim crushes Mordecai anyday. He deserves it.
I think nephenee is severely underrated on maniac mode, I beat Maniac mode with only Ike and Neph and it really wasn't so bad. I find distributing BXP among your team to be a generally bad idea since FE has linear stats, so most enemies will be able to still severely damage all of your units. It's much better in my opinion to low-man maniac mode so only a few characters get the XP, making them blast past the difficulty curve and be invincible until the final chapters, or at least until the enemy has all promoted units. Crits counter enemy spam, since they halve weapon usages and weapon usages are the *main* bottleneck keeping you from low-manning all of maniac mode. I understand why you wouldn't want to use her on a pure ironman with no resets, since she's a low hp carry with wrath, but a neph with capped stats (she'll cap speed twice over with knight ward) is just insane. I had to forge javelins for Clash obviously, and maps usually took a couple tries, but she really does just body the game as long as you aren't completely RNG screwed - which ruins any unit. 28 defense on a non-armor knight is crazy good, I give her the wyvern band so she gets better defense and might levels, and I would be lying if I said I didn't rig some of her levels with BEXP to make sure she could cap strength and defense minimum. I'm starting a true Ike Neph only run today, and I will be keeping it as ironman as I can (zero rigging basically). Obviously I will have to restart if one of them dies, duh, but I'm basically just treating Neph as a second Ike in terms of being a game-over condition on death.

I'm curious what you'd rate these units at if you had to run Maniac Path of Radiance into Maniac Radiant Dawn using that PoR file for transfer bonuses. I doubt it would change much but it's definitely something to consider.

Astrid for me just started snowballing, the level after I got her i put her behind my two armored knights who bottle necked the bridges and unequiped their lances I had her just killing everyone in that map in 1 map I almost got her to be a paladin (I had her canto out after each attack so mist could run in and heal) she quickly became one of my strongest units, give her axe as a proficiency as paladin and her high skill growth basically causes her to never miss with a hand axe
@@allanalmendros5878 at least Ike doesn’t promote too late so I guess he has that but in general he is not really impressive as far as FE lords goes. Hell he is probably one of the most unimpressive units in the hole series outside of the very last chapters
Ike's combat itself is actually decently solid. He just can't enemy phase, which in PoR is important for...infamous reasons. Being both swordlocked and footlocked also massively hurts his versatility. If we were rating him purely on his performance in battle, he's quite passable, dare I say good? But everything outside of picking off an enemy on player phase is very unimpressive.
So that's why Calill and Bastian have knives. What bothers me is that the game asks you if you want your newly promoted mage to have knives of staves. It is telling how lackluster Myrmidons/Swordmasters are in this game when Stefan isn't 5 star unit despite his insane stats. I did trained Mia all the way to Swordmaster, but she was second hardest unit to raise. After Sothe of course who's 7 base attack is even worse than Amelia's 8 (and unlike Amelia he has no way to incrase it and lacks any ranged options). Rolf i found amusing because he ended the game having 4th highest kill count (after Ike, Soren, Boyd and was 2 kills ahead of Jill) finishing with 69 kills. And i still have no idea how that happened. And why there's no mention of Tibarn, Naesala and Giffca? Sure, they have very limited availability, but they are important against the final boss.
The laguz royals are very superfluous in this game because on hard/maniac mode they don’t come in until ashnard’s 1st phase is beaten. If you have an Ike/dragon that can beat the 1st phase then they’ll be able to beat phase 2 with healing support. So on hard/maniac mode they’re pretty much worthless, myself and a lot of other people actually put the royals below even people like Rolf, Ulki, and Brom just because they have no purpose.
Wrath/Vantage is too good of a combination to skip. Especially when mia is borderline untouchable. It's not as good on Nephenee, but it's still worth having two wrath/vantage users on any run. Both can get strength screwed, but when you are Criting all the time it is worthwhile. Nephenee also has the wrath/resolve option, which breaks the game, but resolve comes pretty late. All that said, POR is all about Paladins and Flyers, so it is hard to argue for any infantry.
Can't speak for MM but in HM I personally like to give Mia the gamble skill as her overkill Skill and 15 crit bonus makes for a unit that doubles, that with forged blades (which are far too cheap in PoR) gets +18 bonus crit, +5 might and +max hit lead to a unit that doubles with 60 hit and 60 crit on player phase. Haven't actually tried Wrath+Vantage yet but I can imagine it's amazing too
The only units with swords worth using in this game is ones with a magic stat. Since the entirety of this game is having your unit take on 10 units at 1-2 range a turn any not ike sword unit needs to have a sonic sword equipped at all times. mia would need to be massively magic blessed so they can take out enemies in one hit with a magic sword crits. These are also not even available early on so it’s pretty much a death sentence for sword units that show up early like mia. It’s just better to not bother unless she somehow gets magic every level. The most useful thing sword units can do barring ike once he gets his personal is unequip everything and be bait while you train someone particularly frail that can’t be ohko and ike is best at that ( both because of higher avoid thanks to earth affinity and because of the higher defense)

If youre a fan of stealing things, be aware that because sothe doesnt promote his speed is capped at 20, which makes it impossible for many enemies 2/3 into the game
Honestly the reason why I like Nephenee so much is because she just turned out extremely good on all of my playthroughs of PoR and RD(also I just like the soldier class), there were times where I thought she was gonna die, because she kept killing every enemy that attacked her, making space for more enemies to swarm her. However at the end she was the only one standing, as she simply tanked/dodged all the attacks and killed like 10 enemies in one round...
Soren died in the first combat I had him in. Was so weird having such an important character to the story be unusable. I think there were times where story-wise there were like 3 people including him, Ike, and Titania, bit he was always dead.
idk how you're getting anyone killed, let alone a mage/priest. do you not use your tank units? I'm running the game on hard and Soren never died but I haven't played the game in like 15 years so every is like brand new but I'm also apparently more competent/effective than the first several times i played the game. it like i got better in the time away or something.
I do agree Ike struggles in early game but he definitely picks up around chapter 6. I agree with 3 stars for PoR tbh. Personal bias I would put him at 4 stars because I use him too much but I still agree from a objective standpoint.
It would have been cool if they had thought of a porcupine laguz. That way it could have a 1-2 range attack in their transformation, plus mabye a damage reflection skill?
I'm not an expert of Fire Emblem, so I'm kinda confused about some of the reviews. How come the base stat isn't important ? I always found Titania like one of the worst character on my PoR runs because she ultimately have far worst stats than any mount at max level. Sure she has great growth, but she has so many levels wasted because of it's base stats. Was I unlucky on my first run ? I admit I only played her once and never played her again when I compared the max stats I got with her.
Titania may have worse stats than your other characters towards the endgame, but she kicks ass throughout the entire early to mid game. She carries your team while they are busy running around doing single-digit damage. If you are playing on a lower difficulty, you don't need Titania as much, so she doesn't feel that important. However, when you play on hard mode, or god forbid, maniac mode, Titania becomes one of your most important units. You can't just look at a units performance in the endgame to decide if it is good or not. You have to factor in their contributions throughout the entire game, no?
@@Mangs1337 Thanks for your quick answer Mangs ! The difficulty mode must probably be the issue then ! I was playing on normal on my first playthrough. And I didn't want to give Titania another chance because she won so few exp at the beginning of the game, so I'd rather train the other who catch her quickly. Then again, I suppose the way we treat our Unit has a big influence on their performance. Mia keeps carry me hard on all of my playthrough (didn't try japanese maniac mode though), while I understand the arguments against her.
If anyone is here and using this while thinking about transferring to RD, here's some math (Mekkah talked about this but here's some hard detail): 36.0 19.4 4.6 20 20 20.2 15.0 9.7 35 18 4 20 20 15 14 9 Top line is Sothe's *average* stats at level 20 in PoR; bottom line is his base stats in RD. There is a non-trivial chance if you get *any* bad level ups that the Sothe you transfer will be worse than how he starts in RD.
Not to mention Astra is garbage. 5 uses for 2.5 damage. Sure, there is a Crit chance but it’s too much of weapon usage burn. I NEVER used Occult Scrolls on Astra. Mainly used it on Luna or Sol.
Having watched and played through all of Maniac Mode now, I have to say I don't really see any PoR units as either good or bad. Arguments like "this unit needs bonus experience to be good" or "this unit has a hard time one-rounding enemies" are completely tossed out the window by maniac mode. It doesn't matter which unit it is, the only way they're going to one-round an enemy is through a convoluted RNG-fest with some combination of Wrath, Resolve, Adept or a mastery skill. I think being tanky still helps a unit, but positioning is far more important for survivability. Higher movement is nice, but when you're turtling for six turns because there are 65 enemies all converging on you, the difference between 9 move and 6 move is negligible. Just interesting how Maniac Mode, for all its flaws, really changes the way you look at the basics of the game.

Astrid for me just started snowballing, the level after I got her i put her behind my two armored knights who bottle necked the bridges and unequiped their lances I had her just killing everyone in that map in 1 map I almost got her to be a paladin (I had her canto out after each attack so mist could run in and heal) she quickly became one of my strongest units, give her axe as a proficiency as paladin and her high skill growth basically causes her to never miss with a hand axe

Ike's combat itself is actually decently solid. He just can't enemy phase, which in PoR is important for...infamous reasons. Being both swordlocked and footlocked also massively hurts his versatility. If we were rating him purely on his performance in battle, he's quite passable, dare I say good? But everything outside of picking off an enemy on player phase is very unimpressive.

So that's why Calill and Bastian have knives. What bothers me is that the game asks you if you want your newly promoted mage to have knives of staves.
It is telling how lackluster Myrmidons/Swordmasters are in this game when Stefan isn't 5 star unit despite his insane stats. I did trained Mia all the way to Swordmaster, but she was second hardest unit to raise. After Sothe of course who's 7 base attack is even worse than Amelia's 8 (and unlike Amelia he has no way to incrase it and lacks any ranged options).
Rolf i found amusing because he ended the game having 4th highest kill count (after Ike, Soren, Boyd and was 2 kills ahead of Jill) finishing with 69 kills. And i still have no idea how that happened.
And why there's no mention of Tibarn, Naesala and Giffca? Sure, they have very limited availability, but they are important against the final boss.
The laguz royals are very superfluous in this game because on hard/maniac mode they don’t come in until ashnard’s 1st phase is beaten. If you have an Ike/dragon that can beat the 1st phase then they’ll be able to beat phase 2 with healing support. So on hard/maniac mode they’re pretty much worthless, myself and a lot of other people actually put the royals below even people like Rolf, Ulki, and Brom just because they have no purpose.
Mia is the best she’s 6 out of 5 stars.
Wrath/Vantage is too good of a combination to skip. Especially when mia is borderline untouchable. It's not as good on Nephenee, but it's still worth having two wrath/vantage users on any run. Both can get strength screwed, but when you are Criting all the time it is worthwhile. Nephenee also has the wrath/resolve option, which breaks the game, but resolve comes pretty late.
All that said, POR is all about Paladins and Flyers, so it is hard to argue for any infantry.
Can't speak for MM but in HM I personally like to give Mia the gamble skill as her overkill Skill and 15 crit bonus makes for a unit that doubles, that with forged blades (which are far too cheap in PoR) gets +18 bonus crit, +5 might and +max hit
lead to a unit that doubles with 60 hit and 60 crit on player phase.
Haven't actually tried Wrath+Vantage yet but I can imagine it's amazing too
The only units with swords worth using in this game is ones with a magic stat. Since the entirety of this game is having your unit take on 10 units at 1-2 range a turn any not ike sword unit needs to have a sonic sword equipped at all times. mia would need to be massively magic blessed so they can take out enemies in one hit with a magic sword crits. These are also not even available early on so it’s pretty much a death sentence for sword units that show up early like mia. It’s just better to not bother unless she somehow gets magic every level. The most useful thing sword units can do barring ike once he gets his personal is unequip everything and be bait while you train someone particularly frail that can’t be ohko and ike is best at that ( both because of higher avoid thanks to earth affinity and because of the higher defense)

If youre a fan of stealing things, be aware that because sothe doesnt promote his speed is capped at 20, which makes it impossible for many enemies 2/3 into the game

Honestly the reason why I like Nephenee so much is because she just turned out extremely good on all of my playthroughs of PoR and RD(also I just like the soldier class), there were times where I thought she was gonna die, because she kept killing every enemy that attacked her, making space for more enemies to swarm her.
However at the end she was the only one standing, as she simply tanked/dodged all the attacks and killed like 10 enemies in one round...
Brom is mainly good if one is doing their first playthrough and didn't know how to re-recruit Gatrie, like my first time haha
Soren died in the first combat I had him in. Was so weird having such an important character to the story be unusable. I think there were times where story-wise there were like 3 people including him, Ike, and Titania, bit he was always dead.
idk how you're getting anyone killed, let alone a mage/priest. do you not use your tank units? I'm running the game on hard and Soren never died but I haven't played the game in like 15 years so every is like brand new but I'm also apparently more competent/effective than the first several times i played the game. it like i got better in the time away or something.

I do agree Ike struggles in early game but he definitely picks up around chapter 6. I agree with 3 stars for PoR tbh. Personal bias I would put him at 4 stars because I use him too much but I still agree from a objective standpoint.

I'm not an expert of Fire Emblem, so I'm kinda confused about some of the reviews.
How come the base stat isn't important ? I always found Titania like one of the worst character on my PoR runs because she ultimately have far worst stats than any mount at max level. Sure she has great growth, but she has so many levels wasted because of it's base stats.
Was I unlucky on my first run ? I admit I only played her once and never played her again when I compared the max stats I got with her.
Titania may have worse stats than your other characters towards the endgame, but she kicks ass throughout the entire early to mid game. She carries your team while they are busy running around doing single-digit damage.
If you are playing on a lower difficulty, you don't need Titania as much, so she doesn't feel that important. However, when you play on hard mode, or god forbid, maniac mode, Titania becomes one of your most important units.
You can't just look at a units performance in the endgame to decide if it is good or not. You have to factor in their contributions throughout the entire game, no?

The difficulty mode must probably be the issue then ! I was playing on normal on my first playthrough. And I didn't want to give Titania another chance because she won so few exp at the beginning of the game, so I'd rather train the other who catch her quickly.
Then again, I suppose the way we treat our Unit has a big influence on their performance. Mia keeps carry me hard on all of my playthrough (didn't try japanese maniac mode though), while I understand the arguments against her.

Top line is Sothe's *average* stats at level 20 in PoR; bottom line is his base stats in RD. There is a non-trivial chance if you get *any* bad level ups that the Sothe you transfer will be worse than how he starts in RD.

Not to mention Astra is garbage. 5 uses for 2.5 damage. Sure, there is a Crit chance but it’s too much of weapon usage burn. I NEVER used Occult Scrolls on Astra. Mainly used it on Luna or Sol.

What does that Supports list mean?
Having watched and played through all of Maniac Mode now, I have to say I don't really see any PoR units as either good or bad. Arguments like "this unit needs bonus experience to be good" or "this unit has a hard time one-rounding enemies" are completely tossed out the window by maniac mode. It doesn't matter which unit it is, the only way they're going to one-round an enemy is through a convoluted RNG-fest with some combination of Wrath, Resolve, Adept or a mastery skill. I think being tanky still helps a unit, but positioning is far more important for survivability. Higher movement is nice, but when you're turtling for six turns because there are 65 enemies all converging on you, the difference between 9 move and 6 move is negligible.
Just interesting how Maniac Mode, for all its flaws, really changes the way you look at the basics of the game.
