*UPDATE:* It has come to my attention that Returning Projectiles Support is far better than Vicious Projectiles Support for this build. We're talking roughly *150% more total DPS (2.5x)* than shown in this video. This is in large part due to an apparent bug where the damage penalty on Returning Projectiles doesn't seem to apply to ailment damage. See proof here: th-cam.com/video/MLfUKB28yS0/w-d-xo.html However, even if the damage were not bugged, Returning Projectiles is still better than Vicious Projectiles by a wide margin (about 1.37x more DPS), so not using it from the start was an oversight on my part. I've updated the PoB to include the 20/23 Anomalous Returning Projectiles to which I have since switched.
Looks sick, Fury of Nature is such a cool keystone. The tech with using chilled and shocked ground to also apply the ailments is sweet. I used Fury of Nature last league on a self shock lightning conduit raider, using ralakesh impatience + malachais loop to self shock. Fury of Nature easily let me hit max self shock and proliferation to create a shocking aura around me. LC does not remove shocks inflicted like this on enemies so you can just spam it. The other cool interaction, as you showed, is with leaderships price. Since I technically wasn’t inflicting a shock, but proliferating one inflicted on me, leaderships price doesn’t stop it. I didn’t scale as hard into non damaging ailment effect as you did, but since LC hits considerably harder it was still easy to hit max ailment effect. The chilled ground from vortex is something I hadn’t thought of, if I ever make the build again I’ll add that as well.
The shocks and chill applied by not you sources aren't affected by your non-damaging ailment effect as seen by the 10% chill for a frame at 10:19. Love how you organize the video and took the time to separate it by parts. You're explanations are easily digestible and presented clearly.
Shocked and chilled ground created by the player are definitely affected by the player's ailment effect modifiers. Otherwise, ain't no way I'm inflicting 30% chill at all. The Vortex certainly doesn't hit hard enough to do that with the spell damage portion. I think the game's display of ailment numbers on enemies is a bit buggy. You can see a lot of weird flickering numbers on the ailment icons throughout the video (e.g. 20% brittle, 50% chill, etc.).
@sergeantminor256 huh. you are right. I tested it again and this time my vortex chilling ground was affected. I've had also noticed that I've been getting the buggy display too as I sometimes see 60% chill which is impossible. What confused me was that on the wiki(the good one) it says that the chills aren't attributed to the creator. I guess that has nothing to do with inheriting your effect of non-damaging ailments.
While it's an old video, I thought I'd air this anyway. Due to the absurd amount of hits the build does, you can use a Cobalt Jewel rolled with "Gain 3 Energy Shield per Enemy Hit with Attacks" to significantly increase the energy shield recovery.
On the topic of Eternal Sacrifice uptime, a regular jewel with "Gain (2-3) Energy Shield per Enemy Hit with Attacks" also help a lot for skills that just fire a lot of proj, though it's hard to fit in more jewels with this particular setup. It's just something I never see done for some reason, even for Mahuxotl builds that definitely could take advantage of it at a low opportunity cost since they use rare jewels already
I'm aware of that affix, but I think it would take a few of those jewels to make a noticeable difference. It would only make sense if I were already using several Abyss jewels. I've found that most of my builds can't even fit in rare jewels at all, except maybe cluster jewels. Too many good unique ones these days! Also, with instant leech giving ~40 ES on hit, I think the added 2-3 per jewel would be pretty negligible.
Really happy to see that you are posting videos again. Your channel has helped me a lot to understand the details of the game's mechanics, and as usual this video is very informative.
this build blew me away honestly! i wish i had some currency to try it out :( Will try it next league myb! So creative and interesting, underrated channel.
For your DPS calculation: Without any investment into less Proj speed or Conc effect you are looking at an around 25% hitrate for your balls -> so 1/4 proj will hit. This is what makes returning proj so strong -> all returning projectiles are guaranteed to hit, as long as you are close enough under the monster + the new returning projectiles gem downside does not apply to poison, making it effectively a 500% more multiplier for damage.
If the damage multiplier doesn't affect poison, that has to be a bug, right? That's not consistent with the wording on the gem. If that's true, then it's an easy one-for-one swap with Vicious Projectiles. I'm going to test that right now. Also I have 20% increased projectile speed from Ballistics on the skill tree. I can avoid taking the node if it hurts my DPS enough, but I'd lose some stun avoidance from Heart of Oak.
