Thank you for clarifying this! I'm one of the more "rare types" that doesn't tolerate progesterone (not my own in the past when menstruating nor the bio-identical cream form recently prescribed to me). Thank you for making this so much more clear & understandable to myself & others as well! ❤
I am a man an I take 40 to 80 mg of real progesterone cream on my skin. It makes me feel better and calmer and I sleep better. I definately dont have a womb. I am on TRT and that may have causes my DHEA and Progesterone to go low. Addendum 4/20/24. I am learning that some hormones should be cyclic and that daily dosing ( like progesterone) may not be the best strategy for optimum health. Men dont have monthly cycles like women; but maybe a similiar principle might be warrented even for men on TRT especially for the high level hormones like DHEA, PROGESTEROBE & PREGNENOLONE. Maybe even an oscillatory dosing ramp up the ramp down on a weekly or bimonthly schedule.
This is one of the best (clearest/most accurate/ most concise) plain English descriptions of the use of progesterone / synthetic progestogen in HRT! Many thanks - will paraphrase it for my patients or send them the link. Only small print comment is that progesterone isn’t the only option for endometrial suppression - Bazedoxefine can be used & is excellent for women with PMDD/progesterone intolerance.
That's really exciting. I have a bad reaction to progesterone but can't live with out my hrt. My family dr says he wont give me hrt anymore (he was giving me estrogen alone) because he says I'm too old for it and there's a cancer risk and estrogen can cause heart failure? I'm 54. As a result I only take them every other day. The NP gynecologist he sent me to says she won't prescribe estrogen without progesterone. It's going to be hell. I don't have high blood pressure. My BMI is about 26. It seems like overkill to worry about this stuff when not being on enough hormones is making me so miserable.
Finally some common sense. I can’t stand progesterone, I have all possible negative side effects from it. Acne, mood swings, anxiety, bloating, general feeling of discomfort and even triggers facial hair growth. It made me stop HRT altogether.
My gosh. I’ve been on 100mg since March and have been a hermit and not myself at all! I wonder if it’s this pill??!! I started it because of sleep, itchy skin and just over all felt like crap. Although, my itchy skin symptoms are gone I still feel like crap. I’m sick of this rollercoaster.

Interesting. I was just commenting on another doctor here on youtube how progesterone has helped me so much actually and I've had insomnia all my life for decades and days after taking progesterone replacement therapy I bean sleeping like a baby and ever since... plus now I have all this incredible energy which I place don the hormones but it could be just I can finally sleep but I've seen others mention they suddenly feel like a teenager again with tons of energy and that's what my experience is with progesterine, it calmed my anxiety as well. If I had known this decades ago I would have taken progesterone much earlier in life because my doctor earlier in life prescribed me progesteone birth control pills instead of the estrogen ones because of my severe migraines which it did remove the migraines on those pills but at one point I stopped taking all birth control in general so I guess my body/brain has lived with a low amount of progesterone for decades now which made my life hell really. I also lost a pregnancy once early on which would signify lower progesterone as well. I've never been pregnant since. Every body is different, of course, and this is just my experience with progesterone.
I have same experience i loose progesteron in Peri and i start to have mood swings, anxiety going in side of depression. I started HRT and I feel good.
I absolutely LOATHE progesterone. It makes me horribly depressed. Any kind of progesterone: bio-identical and synthetic. Depressed. Unconfident. Self-conscious. Cynical. Mean. Unsociable. Bloated. Tired. Unmotivated. Uninterested. MISERABLE.
I'm very fortunate to be in the camp of HRT users that feels so much better for taking micronized progesterone. Sleep better, reduced anxiety, and I believe it plays a role in supporting bone health too, along with testosterone and oestrogen 💛
Progesterone makes me super depressed, and low energy. I hate it. My dr says If I want the estrogen I have to be on it. I have 2 pills left before he forces me into hell.
Same. I took agnus castus (vitex), a herbal remedy, for awful PMS. Although I was also on a POP, and had no cycle with it, so who knows where my poor endogenous progesterone was? Now I'm on HRT, including micronized progesterone and my body loves it 💛
Glad I came along your channel ,iv been puzzled about taking progesterone after having a hysterectomy with ovaries removed, some saying I don't need it, and some saying I do I recon after your video ill stick to the not needing it
I take the femring for estradiol, but I am on mirena iud instead of taking the oral progesterone because of melasma problem on my face. Should I be concerned with the breast cancer risk from being on the iud?
Great video, im doing my best as a husband to help my wife with her symptoms she’s started having in the last year, she still has her monthly periods but they’ve become irratic and other issues, her doctor put her on what we figured out now is continues hrt, her estrogen is a tablet that is only .675 mg and her progesterone is only 2.5 mg, we’re so confused as we dont see this small of a dose on any videos or podcast?, is this very low dose something we should still cycle progesterone 12-14 days once we figure out her cycle?. any help is appreciated :)
Every time I take progesterone it makes me bleed so I’ve pretty much stopped taking it. I use oestrogen and testosterone. Do I really need progesterone?
You are incorrect about pms symptoms being an intolerance of one's own progesterone. You just don't understand how estrogen dominance works. She feels better at menstruation because the estrogen drops. Alarming you don't get it.
Interesting… all the symptoms you describe as being caused by progesterone are the ones I experience when I don’t have ENOUGH progesterone. I’ve suffered with insufficient gluteal phase for years and even needed more in my current pregnancy just to feel human.
I didn’t get progesterone, but a progestin, the synthetic medroxyprogesterone acetate. So I am worried of course. Just started cyclic HRT, I am on day 2 on estradiol gel. Should start the Provera on day 11 for 10 days. Any suggestions on changing the progestin?

interesting, never heard of this.

Not available on its own in the US.
Finally some common sense. I can’t stand progesterone, I have all possible negative side effects from it. Acne, mood swings, anxiety, bloating, general feeling of discomfort and even triggers facial hair growth. It made me stop HRT altogether.
Same, the stuff is toxic to my body. I can’t stand it. I’m sure it has broken so many marriages with the pmdd and mood swings
Were you taking it orally?
@@OZMAZZ12Totally agree. I will never take that crap again. It's a monster.

Are you on progesterone cream or tablet?

Yes ! So helpful thank you Doctor….Love and blessings to you and yours.👏🏼🇨🇦🙏🏼💖

Yeah, I'm in the next tent over. hello fellow camper! 💛
Thank you - very good explanation!!❤ There is so much information & it is soooo confusing!
Great summary, Thanks, Linda 🎉
Thank you cleared up a few questions I have about the need for taking progesterone with oestrogen
Progesterone makes me super depressed, and low energy. I hate it. My dr says If I want the estrogen I have to be on it. I have 2 pills left before he forces me into hell.
Me too. It's the prometrium that bothers me. When I was young I did great on Yaz
My dr said a progesterone IUD would be good… not really systemic so little to no side effects but still get the protective benefits
Is there much difference taking a tablet or applying to skin? Also - I don’t want to take estrogen, only progesterone.
Wish I started progesterone in my twenties. Dr.s don’t tell you how it can help with horrid pms. A true disservice to many.
Same.
I took agnus castus (vitex), a herbal remedy, for awful PMS. Although I was also on a POP, and had no cycle with it, so who knows where my poor endogenous progesterone was?
Now I'm on HRT, including micronized progesterone and my body loves it 💛

Progesterone is just fine with me, sharpens the mind and softens the bed. It's unfortunate, that one week later when the knives come out 🔪
I take the femring for estradiol, but I am on mirena iud instead of taking the oral progesterone because of melasma problem on my face. Should I be concerned with the breast cancer risk from being on the iud?
No
Thoughts on taking progesterone 200mg vaginally for 12 days per month?
Great video, im doing my best as a husband to help my wife with her symptoms she’s started having in the last year, she still has her monthly periods but they’ve become irratic and other issues, her doctor put her on what we figured out now is continues hrt, her estrogen is a tablet that is only .675 mg and her progesterone is only 2.5 mg, we’re so confused as we dont see this small of a dose on any videos or podcast?, is this very low dose something we should still cycle progesterone 12-14 days once we figure out her cycle?. any help is appreciated :)
Thank you!
is there a lowest dose of progesterone that can be okay and only 12 days out of the month?
I read you need 2000 mg a month no matter how you take it.
The part about PMS is not correct. It is actually the opposite. It is important this is correct. Thankyou for the other info.
I have taken it, although it made me feel better, it also made me put on weight….arghh…
Luv progesterone
I take no HRT… I’m post menopausal and I wouldn’t take progesterone especially the pharmaceutical manufactured kind… No Thanks !!
Makes me to sleepy

synthetic? Ups risk of breast cancer… research that.
