Why did it take me so long to decide to look this up... it's so much simpler than I thought. Thanks.
I couldn't agree more :)
You’re definitely not alone here
I've been using Logic for two years and I'm barely starting to understand what this DAW is capable of. Chopping and flipping samples is way easier than I previously thought.
very true
I’ve just been discovering the same thing, after using it for years. My boomer techno-fear kept me from it. And now, I’m forehead splapping, cause it’s not hard…at least in this DAW.
I really needed that "opt-drag" trick for importing samples; works like a treat. Thanks!
That option click drag shortcut made me very glad I watched this video lol. So much easier than the way I've been doing it, and now I know why I keep accidentally lengthening stuff when I'm just trying to copy/paste but click too close to the edge of the sample lol
the Flex Time editing looks like it could be a really powerful tool in mixing things ups a bit
You’ve opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me! Thanks 😊
Thank you so much ...I just got the M1 Mac mini for xmas and have been studying Logic Pro.
That flute is really catchy
(AWSER IS AT 05:00) Thanks man, great video!
Thanks
....you just changed my life
Great Vid! I've been struggling with seeing the purpose of Splice for my preferred genre, Singer songwriter and Indie pop rock. Im typically working with more organic sounds. I was really only able to see Splice's value in more of an EDM application. Not anymore!!! This made it all make sense! Thank you!!!!
I have been looking forever to find a quicker way to do this. Ty!!!!!!!
Thanks man you saved my life! I was looking for this all over. Btw, I bought some of the soundsets for serum from Esw and love them!
Thank you!!!!
thanks man! i forget everytime and you remind me here everytime!! keep up the good work bro!
Man you’re the best all your videos are so well explained thx
Thanks!!!!
This is an awesome tutorial! Thanks so much Echo Sound Works!
Wooho!! Thanks mate :)
Dude, you just changed my life. 😊
Appreciate you bro !! This helped a lot 💫
Glad it helped!
You just saved my studio from demoliton ... thanks!
Thank you 👍🏻💯
So simple - thanks!
Really helped.
Great VID !! Yes option +click 🙌🏻🙌🏻 but I find the fastest way to do this consistently for me is by double click your audio file (TOP LEFT) click TRACK below change to desired flex time option.
Then Click “FILE “ on Mac Ctrl + P brings up time and pitch machine type in the Tempo then desired destination !
So many different ways to do the same thing lol
Another great, concise and extremely helpful video. Thank you my brother 🎶
man this was everything but concise, just professorial redundancy but the tut is well articulated and helpful nonetheless, could've been 2-3min probably.
Thank you so much bro, this could save me like months of struggle :D
this was really helpful...thank you so much
This was so clutch bro thank u
Glad it helped
Thanks loads bro. Saves me a lot of time.
thank you so much, echo. god bless you, king 🙌🔝👑
Killer video, answered a ton of questions. Much appreciated!
thanks man, excellent video and just what I needed. I appreciate you showing the different options as well
DAMN! I MusicLuv It! Just what we have been looking for. Sadly others make this seem so darn complicated and you made it so simple and understandable Hello :-) Thanks a Platinum...
that was very helpful. thank you so much
Damn, was going to save money but couldn't resist that Sphere pack 😭
Sorry I didn’t see this until now! Hope you’re liking sphere
It worked! Thank you 🙏🏻
Wow .. dis is great...
Official Barritone thanks!
That beat is hot I like it a lot you should try speeding up your temple to between 185 and 215 oh my goodness it changed my whole style and made my beats better...💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the tip
Excellent tips and advice as always - option/click & drag will save a lot of time on my workflow. Many thanks guys
Very useful tips and explanation. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure
Just what I was looking for. Thanks for these tips!
Great Video- thanks for your help!
As always, BRILLIANT tutorial ! ! ! Thanks man
This tutorial was awesome.
Just skip to 3:43 and watch until 4:05 that's all the info you need.
This doesn't need to be 10 minutes, there's only about 30 seconds of important information.
Great info man keep up the content!
Thanks! Will do!
Wow!!! Thanks Boss this really helped me a lots
Awesome video brother! really helpful! Thanks so much!
This video helped a lot, THANK YOU!
Very useful, your tutorials are the best! Thanks a lot
Appreciated mate. Great video...
My guy, you rock!!! Thanks so much!!
Bro that helped me a lot. BIG THANKS!
Perfect! Just what I needed.
Big help-THANKS!
Great video! The manual way is much better, then you won't forget to turn the setting off.
F'd News totally agree!
This was great. Very helpful. Thank You
Super helpful video thank you!!
Great video. How would I make the file destructive after my edits for export for use in another DAW?
nice video, well explained and clear. Good job
I love that flute loop, where can I get it?
Thank you
Can you use the same techniques with logic samples?
Great lesson
This isn't too important but I think it's worth noting that Ableton invented this concept with their product, Live. I think that historical context is interesting. It's a feature that has existed since the early 2000s.
Yooo Le beats hard AF 😎🔥🔥
Thanks Bro For The Help...Mad Love Bro
No problem 👍
Good stuff!!
Hi Shane, how to get the Vocal audio done? It destructs the audio quality. How to do the Vocal region nondestructive?
ahh so helpful!! thank u!!
Glad it helps!
I don’t have the “Keep Tempo” option underneath the BPM, where can I find “Keep Tempo”?
Was wondering if you can make a video about importing an old logic project into a new project template
Great One Man! Ton of Info here.
Thank you! I appreciate the love man
Thanks man, life saver!
Hey awesome video, I’m a blind producer and working with logic pro 10.5, question I made some midi instruments off hi hat loops and they are not sequencing to my BPM do you know how I can fix this much appreciated
Not sure why, but when I press the alt key it doesn't affect the icon in any way. Other keys combinations do affect it but I'm not able to find the one you get in the video. Any tips? Thanks
Great stuff! Thanks a million
You’re welcome!
Yo you are the truth
thanks!
Thank you🙏
Dope video. What version of Logic pro are you using? Im using 10.3.1 and i don't see that keep temp option in my tool bar.
Tariq Ali mine is 10.4.2. What view do you have for the transport bar?
Echo Sound Works it looks similar to your view if that makes since. When I click inside the transport where yours says “keep” I don’t have that option. I’m guessing it’s an upgrade issue because i don’t have the smart tempo option.
Really, really helpful!
If I have my beats between 95 to 105 bpm I can create an erie time stretch effect on a loop/sample that creates this slow motion feel. If you listen to a lot of trapsoul that uses those BPMs it's amazing how trap can be made at almost any BPM.
I am I correct in assuming this works for any audio file? I have just dragged in a vocal file using the first option you showed and it seems to have worked. Thanks :)
Yeah any audio file can be warped. Lossless formats like Wav will sound better warped than converted mp3 etc
@@EchoSoundWorks Thanks very much for the video and reply. Your explanations were extremely concise. Very helpful!
Awesome thanks
Thank you man!
thank you!!
Hi! Can you show us how to change a 3/4 sample into a 4/4 sample?
Hey ray! Use the slice flex mode and then re position as needed.
Thxs! Very useful!!
You screwed up at 7:50. If you stretch the audio with flex mode off, it’s going to render the audio using an old algorithm. First enable flex with ctrl+f, then stretch it non-destructively
Notacet nothing I did in this video does destructive edits. I re dragged the file in multiple times, and after that point.
hmm, you can see that the edit is destructive, since the waveform flashes and region gets a new name. Just pointing this out so people don’t make the same mistake I’ve done a million times!
Notacet maybe I have it set up different, but I just tested and did the same thing I did at 7:50, and the raw wav files on my hard drive remained unchanged
Notacet you can see the file name change, it added .1 to the file name after I warped, which means it did make a new file
Thanks 🙂
excellent great tutorial!
How do you make loop fit 4 bars perfectly every time ?
I would appreciate it if you could reply.
1. If use the flex time function to change the BPM, is the sound quality less damaged than fl studio or cubase?
2. The drum sample works well, but when I get the vocal sample, it's a little off.
Is there a way?
Hello!
I think some of logics flex modes sound better than FL, but some don’t. Depends on the source material.
I don’t like using flex modes on vocals, I think you get a better result by cutting/slicing/fading manually
thank you for literary everything
literally*
is it just me?
Flextime only works like 10% of the time for me.
maybe it’s because all my samples are older songs with crazy timing.
I have to chop them up into bars and then align each bar individually. And then I join them together.
Even one flex time gets close, it’s still not locked in correctly
2:44 BRO MY LOGIC DOESNT HAVE THE OPTION TURNED ON FOR THE MENU THAT HAS SLICING, MONOPHONIC ETC IN THE ARRANGER. HOW DO I TURN THAT ON?
Broooo u save my life
@Echo Sound Works...very nice. Which mode you use for, percussions, which for Vocals and which for Melodies ...flex time Audio ?
Neveo Ney hey!
percussion - slice or rhythmic. Slice if I’m doing a lot a manual edits.
Vocals - if they are dry and have no reverb, monophonic. Otherwise polyphonic.
Melodies - same thing as above! If the notes overlap at all with glide etc polyphonic.
@@EchoSoundWorks Nice thanks! You produce most in Logic - not Ableton right ?
Neveo Ney been using logic since 2006. Been using live since 2017. Now it’s probably 70-30
@@EchoSoundWorks Okay, thanks, last question, why aren't you all Ableton?
I also have both...
I'd like to choose one, say the sound quality in Logic is a bit better, or is that a mistake?
@@neveoney7865 I don't think one sounds better than the other. They just have different workflows. Ableton needs to embrace some of the functionality of traditional DAWS, in my opinion. Things like a mixer view (Logic, PT, Cubase, Fl Studio.etc all have this) as well as comping, bounce in place etc.
if logic had a better sampler and drum sampler, I don't think I would ever use ableton.
Neither is perfect, and that's ok. I don't think you need to just use one, sometimes switching it up can lead to creative results!
Is there a way to set the tempo of a loop without snapping to the downbeat? It also shifts it to the wrong place when I adjust tempo
That usually happens when the loops start and end regions aren’t where they should be in the file
@@EchoSoundWorks aww ok i see, so like within the loop file you mean'?
Hey ESW nice video as always. How come when i drag samples in just like you do it dosen't in line with the bar
That's a setting you have to turn on. Click the smart tempo options up at the top and turn on align beats
@@EchoSoundWorks Hey Shane. Thanks it's working now. If i dont already know you make some very informative and easy understanding videos
Is there a way to get auto tempo sync from the browser window while scrolling through a sample library? Like in live, studio one or fl studio. It works with apple loops but not with regular wav files
I haven’t really been active in awhile but many updates ago you were able to convert your wav files to Apple Loops and go from there
