What a life saver man! I thought there was no way to get my brand new film back. It took me two tries, but when it flew out on the second try I was thrilled!
I screwed up inserting a roll, i guess the teeth didnt catch the sprockets of the reel and was bummed at the thought id wasted a roll. You're an absolute life saver.
Thank you so so much for the first tip about wetting the lead on another roll. Just got into film photography and thought the rolls were done for after I rewound them back in by accident. Your tutorial was quick and extremely easy to follow. Recovered the leads to both my rolls!!

Gosh you're a lifesaver, film is hella expensive in my country and I felt I hadn't loaded my Yashica correctly and wanted to reload it, but unwittingly rolled in the entire spool. I panicked because I had just used 1 frame on the film and would have lost 35 if not for your help.
I was right at the camera shop, bought another roll (since I'd use it anyway), and kept trying and trying to use the other roll to get the tab out and it miraculously popped out after many many tries. I was shooketh. God bless your soul. All is well again.

Resurrected two of my film cameras from storage to do something different instead of digital. One of the film canisters the film had creeped back inside. I found your method for recovering the film and and all I can say is "AWESOME "! All the years of photography, I use to have a stainless steel strip but that is gone. Your method is so ingenious and it works, THANKS.

I AM NEW TO FILM AND I JUST GOT A BATTERY AND A FILM ROLL FOR AN OLD CAMERA I HAD AND I WAS SO EXCITED BUT THEN I PULLED THE FILM ALL THE WAY INTO THE CARTRIDGE AND WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WITH MYSELF I ALMOST CRIED. You saved me a roll of film thank you!! I am just learning about film photography as a hobbyist. Film is not cheap these days and I had an issue with a film camera I bought at a yard sale. I rewound the film and took a chance that I could find a YT on how to get my film back out of the container. Your video came up and on the second attempt I had success!! Thanks again. With the resurgence in film photography, this will be a great help for others as well.
I tried this for a while to no avail. Heard the click but then it would just spin back... realized the trick was to put pressure on the wind-up thing once you hear the click (to ensure it doesn't slide back). Keep pressure there until the second reel is in and it should work. Thanks for the video!

Thank you so much!! After a day and "20" exposures I realised that the first time I'd inserted my roll, it hadn't engaged with the sprocket. To save myself from the pickle, I tried putting the film in again, and I accidentally spun it all the way in. So glad I found this video now, helped me get my film out!

This trick saved my new roll of film!! I literally gasped when I saw it pop out. I didn't even get the second film to roll inside, but just yanking out the 1 inch that I shoved inside seemed to do the trick. Lifesaver!!!
Don't give up!! I had to try it 25-35 times before I got the end out!! I used two old film strips like the tool and that finally worked
using an new film roll worked for me, took a couple tries. Will definitely keep a piece of cut off roll in my camera bag, thanks for the tip :D

I loaded a roll of expired film in my Nikon F65 with a wonky lead. The camera decided to roll it back into the canister after I shot one exposure 😂. Thank you so much. It worked on the 3rd try by using another piece of film. Such rewarding magic seeing that film lead pop back out.
After taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Morocco from Canada last week and today finding out my roll hadn't been loaded properly... managed to salvage the unused roll at least with your video. Thank you!

Wonderful video, thanks. It seems to work best if after inserting the other film lead, I set it aside for a few minutes to let the water dry and lock the film leads together.

I didnt even need to do the whole thing i just stuck the tip of the film in about 3cm, noticed i was doing it wrong, so i pulled it out and the film just popped right out, thank you!
This helped me. It took a few rotations to figure out where the film would “reset” and pass the opening of the canister. I ended up rotating it about 3/4ters before it clicked, licked the “rescue” film, pushed it it, and rolled the stuck film about half a rotation where I then pulled the rescue film until it came out.

What a hero! With your help, I was able to save a much prized B&W 3200 ASA film, after it was sucked in by a Contax camera I just bought on eBay... pressed the wrong button. But this... after three attempts, it so worked!
Thank you for this video. It didn't work on the first try, but it worked when I tried it again. The tip of the film was folded inside the roll, so it was a bit hard to pull it.

Wow it really works! If your canister doesn't click, then there's probably a point where the resistance increases up to a point where the spool loosens again. You wanna wind it back to that point where it's just about to get loose and then insert the other piece of film, wind it back a little more, and just pull. You don't have to pull hard either, doing it gently also seems to work.

Shot two or three frames of Cinestill Double X on an unfamiliar to me Nikon F55. Other cameras have needed the end of a paperclip to rewind mid-roll. Beware! this one just needs a misdirected attempt to release the flash and one other button press at the same time (still not sure which) for disaster to strike. Excellent video, day saved at the second attempt. Thank you.

I tried this a couple of times and thought it didn't work. Then I decided I had nothing to lose! Except the new roll of film so did it again and again and got it out! Takes a little practice to feel the catch, turn the spool again to try etc but ultimately it worked and I got my pictures. Oh yes and I think I had to turn it a few times? Can't remember exactly but just kept trying. Don't give up! And thanks so much!
