Multiplex Blizzard - Time Lapse Build

In this video I will show you a time lapse build of the Multiplex Blizzard. The Blizzard was introduced by Multiplex more than 10 years ago as a styrofoam hotliner.
Two things I would have never expected to go together. Knowing that the Blizzard is discontinued since some years I was quite surprised to find an original kit on eBay. Maybe one of the last unbuilt Blizzards...
The build was quite straight forward and after about 12 hours the Blizzard was ready to take to the air. Enjoy the time lapse build and stay tuned for the flight video which will come soon.

I know it's an old video. But.
This looks like a really plesure to build.
It looks really solid, a lot of re-enforcing in the kit, but well sorted in the light end of the scale. Beautifully engineered.
And it's a sleek and fast plane.

Hi, I am happy to see that also my older videos are still watched. The build was really quite simple and the instructions from the kit were super clear. The strength added with all the re-enforments is quite significant. The only remaining issue is that the ailerons start to flutter when going into a vertical dive with a speed roughly above 250 km/h ... but hey who needs that 😉 I am still flying the Blizzard a lot and after around 150 flights and 2 crashes with subsequent repairs I still enjoy it a lot. Danke! Hab am Wochenende noch ein paar Flüge mit onboard Kamera gemacht. Damit hab ich jetzt genug Material fürs Flugvideo ... brauche ich nur noch Zeit zum schneiden 😜

One thing I did not realize about these kits is that the decals provide a critical role in the structural stiffness of the aircraft and are not just there for decoration.

Yes this plane can go really fast 😁 The motor is a Torcster Brushless Gold A3542/4-1460. I am using an Aeronaut CAM Carbon 9,5 x 6 folding prop.

Yes, I think Multiplex should either resume production or develop a version 2. I was lucky that I could find some spare parts on eBay. So in case I break something I can still repair it. The Blizzard is one of my planes that I still fly a lot.

Ist einer meiner Lieblingsflieger. Hat mittlerweile leider schon 2 Crashs hinter sich, einmal hab ich ihn aus den Augen verloren, das zweite mal hat sich die Motorverschraubung gelöst ... den Motor mit zugehöriger Rumpfspitze suche ich heute noch 😂 Fliegt aber inzwischen mit 'nem Ersatzrumpf wieder. Hi. Can you please tell me what kind of CA you used? And maybe a CA kicker? (Accelerator)

I used the CA from Multiplex that is specifically for Elapor, it is called „Zacki Elapor“. I recommend using the medium viscous one and in case of need to come back with the thin CA called „Zacki Super liquid“. Any normal CA will damage the foam! The kicker I used is „MitreBond Aerosol Activator“, but I guess any activator should work with it. And be sure to wear gloves 😜 as you can see in the video I started wearing them after glueing the first part... Enjoy the build and the flying. It‘s really a blast! Just be careful with too steep dives, it tends to flutter at high speed. My flight video will hopefully be finished soon. Greetings from Bavaria

CA kickers (accelerators) are quite unhealthy! Over the years I built quite a bunch of Multiplex foamies (Easy Star, Easy Glider, Heron, Blizzard). Always used Zacki and Zacki Super liquid - never any activator. Even after years of flying, all glued connections are in perfect condition. You cannot ask for more. Perfect match!

Den Motor und Akku von deinem lidel fliger Projekt gibt es nicht mehr. Meine Frage ist welchen Motor und Akku man stattdessen nehmen könnte.

Den Graupner Motor von meinem Lidl Flieger gibt‘s leider nicht mehr da Graupner insolvent ist. Du kannst aber einfach einen anderen 2218 Motor mit rund 1200kv nehmen, z.B. Den Emax GT2218 / 09 1100kv oder den Flite Test Radial C. Als Akku würde ich nen 1600mAh 3S nehmen.

Für den Einstieg wäre als Fernsteuerung die Spectrum DX6e nicht schlecht. Als ESC würde ich was günstiges aus dem Bereich 20A nehmen... bei dem Motor Setup vom Lidl Devil fließen rund 10A. Kleine Frage: ist das Dein erster Flieger? Wenn ja dann würde ich von dem Projekt abraten... das ist was als 3. oder 4. Flieger

Yes, the Blizzard is a great kit. It's a pitty that Multiplex stopped producing it. The Blizzard is still one of my favourite RC planes and I already have more than 150 flights ... and some "minor" crashs and repairs with it.
