    Seriously wish somebody ANYBODY still built something that small. We can only buy new stuff and nothing today comes in at less than 35000 lbs near as I can find.

      Look to Europe... There is outfit overthere making a smaller skidder, can't remember who? That or convince the local stealership to paint up an older machine and pretend its new...

      I'll look into it. Might be what we want.

      @@madhatte73 www.mascus.com/forestry/used-skidders/lkt-82/9s6jdm5k.html its a possible lead, the LKT 81 or 82 is a smaller skidder, lots of vids on TH-cam, the link above supposedly has them for sale new in the US... While I don't think they are real small like the Deere 440 or a garret 15, its pretty close

    I see that you still have a JD steering wheel emblem, if it's the original one deer with four legs.
    That would be collectible now there are hard to find.

    My clark has ears like that. Ive thought about making little cables that come tight when you push the blade down. Kinda like a cat 518

    Nice run through, don't see skidders here well not on State ground as too much ground damage so not allowed !

      I find that goofy, cause my old skidder is way easier on the ground then any tracked machine I've ever worked with. But I'm not a scientist so... That and what I remember or Ireland was a whole bunch of rock with a little moss on top, so I don't see how a skidder would tear anymore up then Cromwell already took care of

    Do you still own this skidder?

  • @tttco
    @tttco 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you haul the skidder and excavator yourself??

    • @northmanlogging2769
      @northmanlogging2769  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes sir, the skidder can be moved with a 5yd type truck (26000gvw) and a decent trailer, I've heard of folks doing it with a 1 ton and a gooseneck... but that sounds sketch as the 440 alone is 12000... the excavator needs something more substantial though... anyway, I use my dumper truck (74500gvwr) and an old (ancient really) tandem trailer with air brakes. Costs too much to pay some one to move em, at around $400 each one way.
