you can get into the secret woods with a chair
You can use a chair placed next to the big log near the secret woods to enter and exit if you consider glitches fair game
Is that really even a glitch~? Feels like just a creative use of game elements, perfect for a challenge run
@@jordanthomas7194 guess it's more an exploit than a glitch but yeah its a cool way to get into the forest

You could also use a sword and go out of bounds then walk from the outside to the secret woods loading zone
@@jordanthomas7194 a glitch is when something goes wrong in the code. An exploit is when you abuse the game to do things that normally shouldn't be possible and weren't intended to be
I don’t know if this isn’t in the rules, but you can go through the quarry mines to get the golden scythe, which is counted as a different item than the default scythe, that would allow you to harvest those previously unharvestable crops
I dont think it should be allowed, but I failed to mention that in the video.
Did specifically mention starter tools, not tools obtained later like the fishing rod. Golden scythe is fair game.

Also there’s no way to upgrade the standard scythe so I agree it should be fair game.
Fun fact that I learned from doing a “No Energy” challenge: If you marry either Maru or Abigail they have the chance of “gifting” you bombs when you talk to them after you’re married. They also have the chance to gift you food and such as well. They’ll claim the bombs were found in their scrap draws or other places and they think that the bombs (or other gifts) will help “aid you on your adventures”.
For harvesting crops that require a scythe, you could always grind out getting the Junimo huts. They'll harvest them for you. That would remove the need to rely on the traveling merchant. You'll just have to buy the wheat to complete the community center.
Thats a really good idea, I never even considered that.
There's also the golden scythe which can be found in the skull cave near the quarry. I'd argue that it's fair game, since it is unique and separate from the starting scythe (and not an upgraded version of it, like the other tools)
You can get the duggy monster slayer goal, it requires 30 of any duggys, so you can just grnd out the basic ones in the early mine floors

Tip for your title;
Basic tool, instead of starter tool. Upgraded varients are no longer the starter version, but a sprinkler is not the same as a basic watering can. So that excludes the golden scythe and allows any tool aquired later. Although I'm not part of the people "confused", i thought i'd share my thoughts on the subject.

I was thinking that you had done this video already, then when you mentioned WoS did it that made a lot more sense. You should see if you two could collaborate on something, I feel like it would work very well with both of your video styles.
Yeah, I started working on this video three months ago, and didn't know about Wand of Sparking's channel or Stardew Tool-Less video until I was already in the editing stage. I really enjoy their Terraria content, good stuff
So... are the only things stopping 100% the scythe, secret woods and the volcano dungeon? If we allow the use of the golden scythe in the quarry, the chair skip for the secret woods and allow use of just the wateringcan... do I sense watering can% a viable speedrun?
I think this'd make for a very annoying speedrun, but hell, I've seen worse :p

I completed my first energy less run (joja) 100% with out of bounce at the vulcano.
It is possible with friends to, if is seen ok when a other person is allowed to us tools.
Yeah getting cherry bombs fron rock crabs on floor 1 is a pain, i tried a no energy run a while ago and getting bonbs took a bit, there a few other ways to get them you didnt mention though such as on the wilderness farm bats can spawn and they have a 2% drop rate for bombs and when marrying abigail theyll sometimes just give you a bomb(though thatd probably take awhile)
Oh thats interesting, hadn't considered getting bombs from marrying abigail. That'd take quite a while... but might be more consistent than the traveling merchant :P
So very weird thing about mob spawning in the mine. They are determine by the rng that is at the start of the day. Meaning to get a crab on f1, you would need to sleep every day till you find one.
Or you could just turn on the setting that allow for mobs to spawn at night on the farm and farm mobs there. And funny enough, you can get all four of the dwarf scrolls using this method if you get your combat high enough.
I don't wanna be nitpicky, but are the Sword from Marlon and the Fishing Rod from Willi technically starting tools too?
They're not on the farm at the start of the game, yes. But they are the tools you first get to begin to level up your specific skill
Nevertheless very much respect for the effort and time you put in this otherwise very gigantuan task! :)
If you did consider them starting tools you can just chuck the free ones you get and buy them proper from willy and the adventurers guild.
You can get the duggy monster slayer goal, from duggies in the mines. There isn't a separate goal for the volcano duggies
If you put a chair next to the stump blocking the secret woods and sit in it and hold hard left you can get past it, its a speedrunning strat :)
6:15 you can use a chair
Place it on the left and sit on it.
So 11:39 should also be doable.
Made a simple mod that makes stardrops give 1 energy and has the player start wit 1 energy. Much more brutal but makes it possible to get perfection.
i still haven't played stardew valley, i can in fact start it at anytime now that i have it, but i happen to just look at videos of the game, so this video is a fine addition to my watch list
you can noclip through exit in Volcano by using any sword, and get to the entrance of dungeon. But i'm not sure, you may stuck out of bounds and not get to dungeon, so that needs confirmation. It's seems like by using that glitch, and also chair for big log skip you probably can obtain 100% Perfection without using tools.
I tried, using that glitch in the volcano doesn't work because there is a wall blocking the bottom part of the exit

wow, I just thought you wouldn't use the actual starter tools but use them only when they are upgraded at least once, bc they are not the starter tools anymore
(you wouldn't use the tools themselves but have them as the base for the upgrade to the next tier)
if you get to the end of the cave located in the quarry you just get a golden scythe
with the sword off the screen glitch it may be possible to enter the volcano, though i havent tested it myself so im not too sure

@@DPadGamer ah thats quite unfortunate. if i understand the glitch correctly its probably because the cave is a separate map in itself and not a “connecting room” but im glad at least it was tried anyway
Is there no way to get to the bottom of Quarry Mines to unlock the Golden Scythe at least?

Fair enough. In my personal opinion I feel like it's fair game since it's obtained by other means than upgrading the starter tools, but I completely see where you're coming from

Literally don't even need to watch because the answer is already yes. Just go around gathering stuff or fishing to make money, buy tools..

Because if I said "no tools" then I'd get people asking about the fishing rod or bombs.
