  • This video is about my visit to the Naval Aviation Museum located on NAS Pensacola. This is one of the best aviation museums you will find! It's loaded with airplanes and from the early beginnings all the way to current times. You'll find many cool and exciting exhibits to explore and learn from as well. They have something for everyone here and yo spend spend half the day here easily and not see it all. I welcome you to follow along as I give you a general overview of what I seen as I walked around. Hope you enjoy and be sure to put this place on your list if you ever visit the Gulf Coast.

Adam, trust me wen I tell you that there is nothing harder in the world than making a museum video! I also have to tell you that you "Rocked the House" man! awesome tour! I cannot tell you how glad and happy I am to have found your channel and that over the internet, we have become friends!
    See you soon (I hope),

Thanks Rich! I know going into the museum that it will be tricky to film because of so much to look at, read, and just take in. My approach was to not try and show every single thing there, but to try and give some general overviews of the whole place, with a few close-ups here and there. I think with that style it will be easier for the viewers to watch, and maybe they will want to come see everything for themselves.
I also try to pan very slow, which is something else very important with film making. I don't like fast shaky camera movements, and I'm sure my viewers will agree with me.
Thanks for the nice comments Rich!

Adam ! Ive been trying to leave you a congratulations on your silver play button video but comments haven't been working so leaving it here for now - CONGRATULATIONS-!! lol Its one thing for some music video or other mediocre c--p to get a lot of views, but you've done it as a machinist and that's really something. In this era of dying trades theres no telling how many peoples lives you've changed for the better by getting them interested in the machine trade either as a job or hobby. Youre not just entertaining people I think youre providing a valuable service that this country badly needs to get our young people coming back to the trades where we used to be so strong in this country. You've gained the interest, respect and generosity of people all around the world, and all these things are a big part of whats behind that silver play button as well as your hard work and solid personality that went into it. I and everyone else who watches are happy for you Adam, you really earned it.

    Adam,
That airship you saw that was stationed at Moffett Field . . . here in the Bay Area. Moffett Field is in Mountain View about 15 miles south of where I live. Back in the 1970s, a aviation buddy of mine and myself saw the Blue Angels at an air show at Moffett Field. Before the base was decomissioned, they had a fleet of Lockheed-Martin Orion P-3 submarine chasers. They kept an eye on what the Russians subs were doing. The end of the active runway was next to the Hwy 101 freeway. I drove past the base everyday to go to work. If one of those P-3s was landing and was flying over the freeway, you expected to see tire tracks on the top of your car! Thanks for the tour of the airbase.
    Have a good one!
    Dave

That is a great museum Abom. Thanks for video'ing it' I have a couple hundred pictures from 4 years ago but didn't shoot video. My Dad's former CO volunteers there. Spent nearly 2 days looking around that place. And something you didn't mention was that besides the planes hanging from the ceiling there is basically only a couple that they don't allow you to touch. Everything else there is out in the open. Not at all like other museums. Makes me want to drive down again. Handy having family a few miles from there.

Other than your shop, it was the best stop on my visit down there. Fun fact. The F-14 at NAS was supposed to be the plane that our museum got when they retired. The carrier crew had even painted it in the show colors. But, the powers that be found that that plane was the last one to be arrested (landed) on the carrier, so they took that plane.
I've seen a few shows on TV that showed some of the workings of the hydraulic gear that is used for arresting the planes. That would have been some cool machining to have worked on.

Hello Adam, I have just watched your video for something I will not be able to do, unfortunately I'll health put a stop to that. I used to go to USAF air shows when I was young here in the east of England when they had the base here before they pulled out due to economic cut and the war on terror, ( i used to run out of our house every time they flew over, sometimes we could see the pilot with our eyes) the one plane which I has always Wowed me wast the B2 Sprite Bomber. I had the privilege to talk to the pilot in length, I was fascinated in how he got his wings including his fathers and grandfathers. Amazing aircraft and amazing stories he was able to talk about. Fantastic videography work. Thank you for your video which I have viewed 7 times so far. May you and your family are blessed with good health.

Nice video, will have to remember next time in that area. Father was career Air Force stationed at Wright -Patterson outside Dayton Oh., his group helped build some of the displays in the Air Force Museum when they moved to the new building on old Wright Field (Pres. Nixon came to open the new museum). If you're an aircraft junkie or just like technology you need to visit, you'll be blown away by all the different aircraft and such on display.

The Blues practice throughout the summer, each Tuesday (maybe Wed.?) @8am I believe, directly behind the museum, free of charge. Same exact airshow performance they do on their summer tour. The best part is, no crowds, the pilots wives selling memorabelia and the pilots meet n greet autograph session directly after the practice. Each aircract inside the museum is a pristine flying example that can fly, but they won't fly them because of their value. The mezzanine level with the retro WWII town life is really kool. Lunch at the O Club accross the street is really good and inexpensive for the general public.

Tell your lady friend/wife/girl friend, that it is really cool that she goes with you to this stuff and doesn't mind you filming stuff, I would like to think that she realizes what a gift you have and that gift of being able to film whatever your heart desires, and show the world, teach the world. She must be one great lady, to not mind you sharing a small bit of your private life with the rest of us. Thank you for the effort on the videos, again... Side note, beings you are a machinist, do you or have you ever played with automotive engines or steam engines? just wondering....

Hey Adam, I just wanted to let you know how your video hit me in two different ways. My father sailed on the first ever voyage (shakedown cruise) of the USS Kearsarge (the see-through model aircraft carrier), and then seeing the lunar rover reminded me that when I was in high school, more than half a century ago, I got to speak to astronaut David Scott, who would later travel to the moon twice and become the first human to drive a motor vehicle on another planetary body [Apollo 15]. Very cool. By the way, you look very impressive next to the "real" A-bomb. After all, it's just a dud.

The USS Enterprise was one of the finest Essex Class Carriers in WWII.
Jack Young, the owner of Enterprise Rent ar was a flyer on the Enterprise during WWII and was highly decorated flying an F-6F Hellcat off the deck of the Enterprise.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice, something almost never hear of in the annals of flight, even in war.
Here's his Obituary from the NY Times after passing away at the ripe old age of 94
Very interesting man in the greatest struggle of good and evil in the history of civilization.
      That such men have lived.

U.S.S. Enterprise (CV-6) was Yorktown class. The Essex class came years later. The first Enterprise carrier was scrapped in the 1950s. The second Enterprise carrier (CVN-65) entered service in 1962.
