great video. I've always found that the actual needle you use can affect knots. I prefer a needle with a bigger eye as it seems to wear the thread less.
Thank you ☺️ That is so true about the needle! I was thinking about this but only after I made the video 🙄 A small needle eye can definitely increase wear and tear, and I've definitely gravitated towards needles with slightly wider eyes...it makes threading them a bit easier too!
Excellent video. 😂 yes guilty here as well a lazy stitcher that doesn’t like stopping and starting. Once I am rolling I don’t want to stop… I have learned something about my self. I don’t like confetti especially a lot of it that’s more than 3 stitches away so I can’t travel with it. 😂 so yes a lazy stitcher. I use a tool for wrapping my floss around to cut it in 1 yard strips for floss drops (which also helps prevent tangles). Ok another tip that calms down tangles. Dampen your thread with a sponge to straighten them. That’s my best tip.
Indeed another excellent video. I'm just a beginner, but I learned of the "dampen slightly with a sponge" method early on and it does seem to help. I have a small sponge inside a small food container that seals shut so I don't need to moisten the sponge often - just turn it over at the start of each session as the bottom of the sponge will be slightly wetter left overnight.
@@RedHatStamper yes! That’s where I learned it too! I also was able to find little plastic containers with a sponge and about thumb size from Stoney Creek website! It is the perfect size for travel bag and non breakable. It’s only a few dollars too. I have several of them.

Now that is definitely a tricky one 😬 Often you get a little loop knot and those ones you can usually pop your needle into the loop, and tug on one end of the thread to see if it will just pull the knot out. If pulling one end doesn't work, try the other one. If it's a more complicated knot then I don't often have much luck getting it untangled and will often just cut the thread and restart it.
