    Love the updates, your Timberborne content is always terrific. Wouldn't it be better though to dynamite the lakes to make them deeper and more worthwhile for storage despite the additional evaporation?

      Definitely .. more depth/less surface are is the way to go :)

      But if it's too deep it won't be useful. Deep water will just stay there until its pumped up to where you're using the water. You want natural flow and not waste energy pumping water upstream.

      @BryanFritchie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly what I was coming to say. Instead of walling off low-level areas, make them max depth!

    Update videos are always helpful. As for the evaporation situation, instead of simply walling off those areas, why not use dynamite to lower them to the same depth as the river? That way you get nice deep reservoirs all across the map where evaporation becomes as close to a non-issue as possible. As for the Temple and the Castle proper, I can't wait to see how they turn out! You've always got incredibly amazing designs, Skye, whether that's here in Timberborn or in any other series.

    • @takumi2023
      @takumi2023 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      too deep of water is also an issue. the water is stuck below level we can pump, water plants, and flow into the storage basin for the power system. we would need tp spend more power to pump the water out of the lower levels expending even more energy.

    so at 10:49 if you look carefully at the farthest out windmill you can clearly see that your offshore windfarm is missing a high power shaft connection meaning you are lacking two windmills worth of power from it

    Interested in a smaller 1 pump row perpetual machine/generator , maybe do an experiment outside the save file, that you can sandbox build the water generator, and optimise it to be efficient, the most power for the given space. (Power output, what power you can safely get with only one row of pumps, and if the shape of the build matters.)

    Hey, Skippy, I had a thought about your wall around the castle grounds. I thought about access and wondered if a scaffold could hold a levee as a gate or barring that, maybe a floodgate/riser can be traversed if the base was 1 level down. It could even act as a drawbridge when the iron tails attack

  • @willdrunkenstein5367
    @willdrunkenstein5367 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    On keeping the infinite power reservoir at equilibrium, just add a dam or platform piece so that the water level is constant. You can keep the singular pump working constantly, and thus you can connect it to the main power grid

  • @tomstech4390
    @tomstech4390 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    4:32 I wondered why to the left of the big barrel.... you didn't just have a 2-wide damn from the main reservoir into the water channel. That way if there's excess water the pump-res gets a topup and if there isn't it doesnt, requires no power either.

    I like the updates between big videos, but I like the idea of building around as much of the old infrastructure as possible, factory’s can go but the homes, shower and water set up, I would like to see it as ‘how it was built over time’ like we started with this and look where we are now kinda idea

  • @donaldham308
    @donaldham308 ปีที่แล้ว

    3:04 I mean, you could have just added a dam into that levee the single pump is on so if the water gets too high, it just over flows back to where it came from. Would be an easy way to keep the water level steady with no maintenance.

    For the little pit, just have it overfill but then put a dam into another even smaller pit (so the main one can't overflow); then pump the new tiny pit back into the main water supply.

  • @nidodson
    @nidodson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you build the 2 pumps up to be above the one windmill pump, you could have the windmill pump always going without concern of the wind, and have the water overflow back into where it's pumping from. Then it's a 100% self sustaining system without any input at all.

    The updates are very handy it's nice to see what's going on I was just wondering would you think it would be better to just make the lakes deeper rather then walling off the sections I understand your not really solving the problem then but the lakes look well and I don't know would they look the best with dry patches because the walls but if there's no other way you gotta do what you gotta do

  • @tpope2044
    @tpope2044 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why didn't you just put a few dams at the top of your hydroplant supply pool instead of levees? That way if it overfills, it will just spill back out. You could have had it on constant power then.

  • @anthonyjernigan5607

  • @simonanderson3961
    @simonanderson3961 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    3:00 I kinda think you should reverse the design: let's call your main reservoir 1, the area at bottom of hydro 2, and your buffer small reservoir 3. I get that you can't just destroy everything and have 1 = 2 because 2 has to be lower... But if you pump from 1 to 2, build a dam at the top of 2 at that lower height you want, that drains to 3 when it gets too full, and then that's pumped out from 3 back to 2... It's never going to fill up or overflow because you're evaporating more than you're putting in from 1

  • @katier9725
    @katier9725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope I'm not going to say something false but... last time I tried to make an aqueduct (which I tried with metal platforms), it did not work. The water just went straight through them due to issues with the game engine. Now MAYBE this has been fixed by now, but I do recommend you test first before you build something which the game simply cannot do.
    Edit: you should also check if a structure is ground-only. Because some (like platforms) are and thus cannot be stacked onto other stuff.
