I’ll always remember CrossCode as being “that game that should’ve been as popular as Celeste or Hollow Knight, but got almost completely buried and overlooked for reasons I cannot fathom”. Here’s to hoping that Alabaster Dawn will be able to make up for that.
I have no idea why the entire world doesn't know about CrossCode. It makes no sense, to me it puts both Hollow Knight and Celeste to shame by quite a large margin.
Crosscode is such a criminally underrated gem and I cannot wait to get into this new game! My week has been extremely stressful and this announcement just made my day. Went from focusing on 90% stress to at least 10% sunshine with this reveal - just a personal reminder of the power of games and why we love them
I'm a big fan of an old SNES game Terranigma. And I know (I can tell) that the developers of Crosscode are too. So then I heard they're making a game called "project Terra" I knew exactly where it's going. And finally all this new info and trailer shows I was right. Indeed it is inspired by Quintet's Terranigma, and it's the best news this year. Thank you!
Crosscode became one of my favourite games of all time when I played it a few years ago. There really isn't a game like it, lots of charm and great gameplay, and Alabaster Dawn looks to be shaping up to be another hit from the Devs. Can't wait for the release date.
Wishlisting this ASAP! I love how developers are making 3D-2D or HD2D games and this is absolutely gorgeous. Crosscode has been on my wishlist for a while now but I guess it’s time to finally play it.
It is genuinely mind boggling how the team managed to make both Cross code and this game in HTML and JS/TS. The fluidity of the movement they made for Cross Code is unmatched, trully an impressive piece of tech and a great game to boot!
As soon as it launches it will be my game of the year. Only question is which year. As for CrossCode, it is one out of 2 games that I gave 10/10 and I have been hardcore gaming since the 80s. Personally, I think CrossCode has the best 2D level/map design of all time and its parkour implementation + vegetation "billiards" are the most ingenious ideas I have ever seen in any ARPG. My dream game would be these 2 systems + procedural map generation, I could probably play such a game forever.
So this game from what I've heard shares the same universe as CrossCode which explains the red biome in the game. This correlates to CrossWorld's (the game in CrossCode) supposed abandoned content in the game which iirc was called the crimson lands. That place was supposed to be extra content for the game but due to the devs (in the game) having a conflict, it was cancelled and was used by the villain to farm "memories" from players. It could also mean that this game features a new Evotar (the protagonist) being experimented on to see how they would build their environments. Alabaster Dawn might be the new DLC for CrossWorlds but we don't know yet. We have to wait for it which is a damn shame because I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT!!! I love CrossCode and it has been my fav for a very long time. Besides Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, there were no games that I was looking forward to but this one came and blast that away. I just cannot wait to get my hands on the game!!!
I loved Crosscode overall but i hope Alabaster Dawn will ease out on the puzzles, they were fun and creative, at first...but there was just way too many of them and they did start to drag eventually They need to strike a good balance between puzzles and combat and this will be an absolutely amazing game
I think a very easy way to fix this is to not make all dungeon puzzles mandatory (ie: give rewards for puzzles and place them outside the mandatory path while making sure the player knows which is the mandatory path).
I've been so ready for this game! I got CrossCode slightly after it launched. Pretty much no one talked about for a few years but once the word spread, I was so happy to see people appreciate this team.
I still feel bad about CrossCode. I played a significant way through that game and enjoyed the game play and characters. I was probably getting close to completion, but at one point I lost momentum and never went back to it. That was a few years ago. Well, actually, I remember I tried to get back into it at one point, but I realized I forgot all of the controls and didn't want to relearn them. I should probably try again. This game looks beautiful. We'll see if the characters are as enjoyable as the ones in CrossCode.
This is very exciting news! CrossCode is one of my favorite indie RPGs so I have high confidence in the quality of the developer's upcoming efforts. All of the footage shown here looks promising and I'm sure the game will likely play as great as it looks. Also, I am curious about your upcoming video ranking different subgenres of RPGs and I look forward to watching it.
When I hear HD2D, this game's trailer is ALL i'm gonna think about now! So fluid and beautiful. Not even the DragonQuest3 remake looks like its coming close!
I really need to finish Crosscode. It's like if you combined top-down Zelda with Xenoblade 3's enemy chain mechanic. Since I've been ticking off the top-down Zeldas from my backlog lately, maybe I'll finally play through the rest of Crosscode soon!
I'm a HUGE fan of Crosscode. I've been waiting for more info on this game for a while. I'm definitely picking it up when it comes out! Also Alex, have you heard of this game called Abyss X Zero? It's by this small team that made this pretty good Metroidvania called Unsighted, which I really enjoyed, it was a bit similar in playstyle to Crosscode. But I think it might be something that would interest you, I highly recommend checking it out!
I really enjoyed Cross Code and it is fantastic game! Alabaster Dawn for sure will be even better as it builds upon previous game. And that's the only little gripe I have. It may be too simillar with regard to the main character and world.
The thing about Crosscode is that it was very obviously game tested to hell and heaven. Everything about it SCREAMS endless playtesting refinements. It's a big part of why the game is good as it is. It will be hard to the same for their new game. I still expect it to be great, but even with some early access, it's not going to get the same super long level of playtesting refinement.
I tried so hard to like CrossCode but the dungeons and puzzles were so long and tedious. It’s the first game I’ve dropped halfway since 2013. After 20+ hours I just gave up.
@@theuntappedtable3487 I felt the same about the dungeons and puzzles, but I stuck it out because I think the story and characters are worth the effort. I do hope they pare those down for this follow up.
@@felixklein470 Yes they were, and it pissed off a lot of people. Not only were the time trials mandatory they sucked big time. Everyone I know who bought the game stopped playing it because of those horrible time trials. They are by far the worst part of the game.
You should try the CrossCode demo, that gives you a better idea of what to expect. While i would say that it does technically employ a twin stick control scheme, calling it a twin stick shooter is rather misleading.

Neat, we're finally getting depth perception.
The most anticipated game has appeared, from now on. CrossCode is amazing and deserves more recognition.
Think I prefer the more pixelated look of Crosscode to this, but this still looks awesome. Those parries look super satisfying. Wishlisted
Same.

Made me think of Terranigma also. The restoration of a dead world especially

@@abysskun9518 right? The game was like .. programmed in a Firefox browser window 🤣🤷♂️
When you said this was the follow up to Crosscode like that is literally Crosscode 2 in so many ways

Wishlisted Alabaster Dawn. Thanks for the alert. Loved CrossCode.

@@BacklogBattle It seems I am a little too high up in the clouds at the moment and I misheard what you said. 😆
Wish listing this NOW! Thanks for the heads up dude. This looks legit!
Wait, have you not played CrossCode? Please do! Just drop everything you are doing and play it. It's that impressive.
I have! I just never talked about it on the channel!
Love the action combat and the way the traversal looks!
Crosscode is like one of my favorite RPG ever❤
CrossCode was a very special game for me. I'm really looking forward to this.

Alabasta from One Piece getting its own game? Lets go!
Alabasta Romance Dawn
Cross Code was so good -- always wished there was a straight up rpg version
Instantly wishlisted. I myself own Crosscode for PC and Switch and I’m looking forward to Alabaster Dawn.
im definitely going to wishlist this and keep my eye on it. this looks amazing!
earth to Developrs of Crosscode - GET SOME MEDIA AND PRESS FOR THE LAUNCH OF YOUR GAME THIS TIME!!
Keeping one eye on this to see if it comes to the Playstation 5 in 2025. ;)
Based on where development seems to be at, I wouldn't think we'd see it until 2026. Unless they're flying through development.
oh this looks epic! I still have to pick up a physical of Crosscode and play that.

Thank you for letting us know about it. I did just wishlist it, just in case I do like it. I hope I like it, as I didn't like Crosscode. We shall see.

Steam for now, but I'm guessing it'll be out on consoles sooner than later!

New games from cross code dev?
Yup!
