Bruce Springsteen's song "Born in the USA" is NOT about patriotism. It's about soldiers serving in Vietnam then coming home to dishonor and economic hardship. It's an anti-war anthem.

Imagine abandoning your family, your Highschool sweetheart and your new baby, for what you MUST know deep down won’t last. I’m certain that in his quiet moments alone, the guilt and anxiety kills him. He probably has to keep himself in a constant state of delusion just to not go crazy. He has to keep lying to himself, telling himself that he’s different and it’ll last. But deep down, he knows.

I feel like Ariana loves the infatuation/honeymoon stage of love but doesn't know what to do when the fireworks fade and you settle into daily life. Which is both sad, cause living life with my husband and best friend is just the best and I wish that for everyone, and makes for constant disappointment. That's cause she has never really been single for more than a couple of months and not even in a long term relationship, she just kept jumping from one relationship to another one ever since she was a teenager. We all need some time to be single (especially after a relationship just ended) to work on ourselves and learn to be happy with ourselves so that eventually we can have an healthy relationship with someone else if we want, but she doesn't want to do that, she doesn't want to be single for long, cause I believe that deep down she doesn't like herself so she needs the constant reassurance that at least other people like her and that she can make any man fall for her, but as you said after the infatuation/honeymoon phase is over she doesn't know how to handle a long term relationship because she needs that feeling of having someone who is head over heels for her again, and so she breaks up and immediately gets with someone else.

This was a really really good analysis! You said so many things that I hadn’t thought of myself, but really resonated with me. One thing that I wanted to mention that I kind of noticed towards the end was that it seems to me that Ariana knows that some of her most loyal fan base is LGBT. That being said, being LGBT myself, it kind of felt like she was trying to dog whistle her LGBT audience. I think that’s why it felt so disjointed because I’m not sure that the “born this way love yourself” moment at the beginning of the song was authentic. The “I love LGBT” message was so random that it almost felt like she was calling that audience to her defense by appealing to the lack of lgbt love in media. Felt very calculated to me.

all they had to do was look at the lyrics to the Springsteen song (born in the usa). that is literally all they had to do to avoid sounding ridiculous. i'm just so done with lazy content. also, they need to understand that you don't have to say "the 1980s." literally nobody thinks they're talking about the 1880s. i never use this term but this content is the definition of cringe. especially the madonna part honestly. furthermore, Christian Breslauer is the one who came up with the mythology and numerology references. The industry is rife with them, and they exist in literally every pop music video. read some vigilant c itizen articles sometime. ugh ugh ugh. also speaking as a fascia expert they really need to stop furrowing their brow so much while they talk or they're absolutely going to be aging like garbage. I feel like this video was created as one massive trigger for me lmao

    • @mindonthingsabove
      @mindonthingsabove 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@imonislandtime maybe the trigger is being judge for infidelity to someone you used to love [8:30-18:06] The Eternal Sunshine is reference to our edenic fall from grace & though we've forgotten what our true love is, it doesn't stop us from being dissatisfied with every other substitute. Hence adultery, cheating, and political intrigue at every turn.
Odd how this young lady even has the ability to know that cheating on your spouse is not good, no matter how young & beautiful one is.. [8:30-19:31] Red light is cleansing, not cooking, healing experience by altering reality or perception of right & wrong.
[22:37-27:09-29:43] tone-deaf & willful ignorance [25:10-26:22] it's not even really singing so much as talking.
Though I'm unfamiliar with AG's "music," witchcraft is manipulation but incantation stylized singing & wand magic spell is dead on [30:33] ..they don't actually agree with the message [improvisation], they are just brainwashed now. [32:15]
The second it is over the blinds/curtains falls & the light shines in [exposing her lies], light is truth in the Bible. [33:40] Bruce Springsteen comment was a throw-away, to highlight how incomparable these two music videos are.
[34:57] Excellent analogy, but AG's mistaken assumption because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas is a lie & is only trying to rear its ugly head virus into idolizing what Proverbs calls dragging one's soul to sheol [death & eternal torment]. We see this play out with people like Angelina Jolie, as a homewrecker who was never accepted by her peers in Hollywood. Demi Moore seems to be treated like she has contracted the plague as well, though that one is puzzling why exactly..
As someone already mentioned in another forum, he once knew someone who had commited a sex crime [child molester] & 50 years later as the two met over a volunteer position at a charity organization, the man was eventually recognized as a convict & his face was plastered all over the internet & newspaper. And the guy who had befriended the guy over altruism was shocked, no flabbergasted that this guy's sin followed him even after 50 years since his crime. Stating in no uncertain terms: Do not to think your indiscretion won't damage & follow you for the rest of your life. This was true of King David, it was also true of his son King Solomon. No sin goes unpunished, not even in modern day. Though I know the healing lamp, enter the furnace comment belies an heart that still thinks it's okay.
Society has normalized divorce & sexual liaisons for quite some time. I give her an A+ for citing as much as she has. Clearly she's very engaging in her analysis, and she is not garbage, no one is. [17:08] Yes & focus is nice touch to tie in with improv, not improve.

Singing "be yourself and do what makes you happy" when in her case it means messing up other people's intimacy is beyond tone deaf. She's admitting her happiness is above basic human empathy. Which goes against the "girl's girl" sweet persona she's created for herself. She's also avoiding to take responsability for ANY of her actions. There are pretty valid critics regarding her black/east asian fishing and her tendency to cheat & date men who are already in a relationship. These critics have nothing to do with projection, baby

As a mother I just couldn't imagine having that happen. But then for it to be played out on the world stage!?? Goodness my heart breaks for the mother and the child. That is about as dirty slimy and evil as someone can get. That baby is gonna get big fast, and sadly he will be able to see how everything went down with his parents. As a wife and mother I cannot for the life of me begin to grasp how someone isn't only ok with doing that but they are literally cashing in on ripping a family apart. Had she never come into his life, sure the chance of them divorcing anyway is likely. BUT imo it probably would have come years later and the possibility of it being amicable is good. If you're not ending your marriage because of another person then the opportunities for you to understand what you should be doing for the family you created are a lot clearer to see. I truly can't even speak on it anymore, it's so sad. God bless this young woman and her baby boy 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹

To be honest it just surprises me that it took people this long to realize who she is. I haven't listened to her songs for a couple of years now (never was a big fan) and definitely haven't kept up on her private life. But since she is one of the biggest personalities in the world I couldn't avoid the rumors and hit songs completely.
To me it was quite clear for a while that she is a narcissist who will just get whoever she wants, enjoy her time with them and then dump them. Make believe she is a helpless romantic who truly fell in love with every one of her boyfriends is being way too generous. There are men and women who enjoy stealing someone's spouse, because they feel powerful and wanted. She certainly fits the stereotype. I am just sad all of these guys she left in her wake are so stupid they didn't see through her and gave up their long term relationships for a fling. When you’ve been abused to the extent she has as a child star, there are times she’s going to want to change her appearance because a)the core of her true self was robbed from her, and b) when all you see looking back at you in the mirror is a victim (which is quite likely right now with all the Dan Schneider videos being uploaded in this age of exposure,) sometimes you literally can’t bear to look at the person that happened to. I’m not saying either of them haven’t been terrible romantic partners from the sound of it, but one thing you’ll hear a lot in comments about the similarly traumatised Justin Bieber that you’ll possibly never hear said about Ariana, is “where the hell was her mother?” While Justin has been an s addict and had widely documented substance issues, Ariana is a classic love addict who gets all her validation from the first bloom of a whirlwind love affair, and has to have it at any cost. Anyone from the past, work, off the street can come into your relationship under the guise of another role and if you voice your discomfort, then that labels you as insecure and weak, pushing your partner into their influence even more. It doesn’t matter if someone is committed in another relationship, you can double date with them and someone can manipulate, infiltrate your family dynamic.

One of the most frustrating parts of situation was that there was a lot of people online who were trying to justify why Ariana is in the wrong for this but you know her new man is completely in the wrong because he's not attractive. They wouldn't point out the fact that oh it's wrong to cheat because in attractive woman is with an unattractive man. Which is very frustrated. But the entire situation is disgusting from both people because they both broke up their own marriages. Another issue with the song is just as a bad song. And the album is not good. Paris originated the dance form between the 60s-80s in Harlem NY within the drag community and it was displayed in the movie Paris is Burning which comes from the annual Paris is Burning ball. Voguing started in the Harlem Ballroom Scene in the 1960's and was created by black and Latino LGBTQ communities. Madonna brought it to the masses in a palatable way, with a great song but it should never be overlooked that this was a queer black and Latino artform that started long before her music career and still goes on today. "Paris Is Burning" is a fantastic (if controversial) look at the Ballroom community in the 80's. *Controversial because the folks featured were poor, working class and/or s3x workers who had to sue to be paid "next to nothing" for their participation in the film*

I don't mean to come out shallow, but compered to other men Ariana dated, Ethan is so basic looking, and we already know his personality isn't the greatest (literally cheated on his wife who just had a baby), so it's just the final proof I need to confidently feel it's actually some kind of a fetish for her. To take other women's men (especially if it's long term) to prove herself she's "better than her" and then go for the next victim, it's not even about the men directly, she doesn't have a type. The final Pick me boss.
I feel like it's some kind of an unhealed trauma from Nickelodeon, where she constantly had to compete for attention with other co-stars in order to stay "Dan's favorite" 🤢 Maybe she was even groomed to believe her self worth only depends on the amount of male attention she gets, so now she's stuck in this loop. Which is very sad (even though the Nick thing is all speculations based on the documentary), but still doesn't excuse her from hurting other women...

Also I think she harps on the "yes, and" as "go on.. as if I really care" Basically saying no matter how much you say or do it doesn't matter. Its like telling her audience go ahead and say what you want but I'm not listening nor caring. But just the song and line "break up with your boyfriend because I'm bored" and then adding on her history it's no wonder people say things.. Its all out there already. I get wanting to be happy but there are families being torn down also. As outsiders seeing the "view" so to speak it's not right whatsoever. Now per say the family shes torn or tearing to us there could be another side we are missing but we wouldn't even know considering everything being said is always back and forth and not direct nor truthful. So that is exactly why that time line is all screwed. And there are lies being said someway or another. Hopefully she comes clean and just admits hey these things happened and so on. I paused at 18:32 to read the headlines, and was reminded of Guy Richie's explantion to his wife when he left her for Madonna - allegedly something along the lines of "but babe, ... she's *Madonna*" which is both hilarious and horrifying, and an indictment on who Ritchie is a human being. Just FYI, Voguing was an underground dance style by trans and queer people of color who weren’t allowed to dance and party freely as they are in the 80s. Madonna was very intentional in choosing this, and trying to share and express that sense of freedom and expression. (It didn’t sure discrimination or anything but for the era, it was huge. Watch Pose for a more recent and modern gaze and the amazing Paris is Burning documentary. It’s not just about dance but voguing itself, birthed from a shunned and discriminated people finding a way to celebrate and feel in a time of hate and rise of the aids epidemic.
It is a beautiful and tragic history, voguing, that has become mainstream and accepted more, just like trans and queer people, but many don’t know its roots in struggle and oppression. ❤❤❤

Vogueing did NOT come from Madonna, Madonna took inspiration from ballroom culture which was created by the black and Latino LGBTQ community in Harlem who even held vogueing competitions. After the documentary “Paris is Burning” was released in the late 80s it introduced this to people outside of this community.

Actually it sounds like all of these guys could have easily said no and they chose not to. I highly doubt that she held a gun to any of their heads and forced them to cheat on their partners.
She does sound tone deaf though.

The criticism and loss of fans is absolutely justified. Young women and girls see her as a role model and shes telling them its ok to be avoidant dismissive, control peoples views of you and take no accountability for toxic dodgy behaviour. She’s obviously immature and self entitled and doesnt care about how her behaviour impacts others as long as she gets what she wants. She also tries to make some of the song preach that she doeent care but if she didnt then why go through all this work to preach it? It’s obviously something she cares about because maybe some small part of her feels uncomfortable with being called out if she really didnt care she wouldnt have wrote all those lyrics and used all that deep imagery. Their relationship wont last like her past ones didnt and for good reason because shes a fool

“Controlling others views of you” is like the DEFINITION of gaslighting. I may not know Ariana personally but she DOES remind of a baby sibling I was forced to grow up with. He’s the youngest of 4 kids and though he maybe in his 20s, he still gives child vibes. If he has an issue with someone, instead of respectfully talking it out, he preferred to ARGUE at random times. He’s emotionally immature and I blame my mom for going the *easiest* on him since childhood. He also acts like I OWE him things all the time. Then acts confused why I don’t like him. He’s a textbook gaslighter..ALWAYS the victim. So I feel the same for Ariana. She obviously wasn’t told “no” enough by her parents ….

She essentially let everyone know, "I am as shitty of a human being as you think, as I've demonstrated countless of tines... yes, and?! You've ignored it before!" She is gaslighting everyone to forget and forgive b/c so what... you won't really hold her accountable or instill consequences. She claims to not care so much, but immensely cares enough to write a while song about it.

Okay, I'll keep my energy and my business away from Ariana's music, albums, concerts, advertisements, social media, and other projects. You don't get to criticize the public for caring about your life while also benefiting from the image you've built in front of them.

I love this video! Slight correction, at 4:41 it’s the other way around. Vogueing evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene in the 1960s, and the dance style inspired Madonna to make the song.

  • @CapitalismSuxx
    @CapitalismSuxx 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    PSA:
Madonna didn't start vogueing. She did several interviews when that album released, where she talked about getting inspired by underground clubbing during the 80's. Two of the artists she took inspiration from worked on the video, I don't remember if they were dancers or choreographers. Madonna however was the one who made it extremely trendy and took it worldwide.
Born in the USA is about PTSD and the Vietnam War. NOT patriotism.

So based on Arianna‘s logic, I’m sure she has an entire playlist with nothing but Diddy, R. Kelly, and Chris Brown. If Epstein released music I’m sure she’d listen to it bc why would she care what anybody does in their personal life 😂. Ariana didn’t kill or physically hurt anybody but Jesus what kind of message is that?

You're all insane for caring what the lyrics are to a song she didn't even write. "She" is not saying anything at all with the lyrics, or the video. She is doing as instructed by the writers of this tabloid soap opera.
Yes I'm aware she is technically given a writing credit. And yes the rest of the credits go to the same Swedish guys who write for literally every one of these singing mannequins. Considering they all sound exactly the same, as if written by the same people, its very clear that the singers' input is always minimal, or just a straight lie.

As a huge AG fan (who has a similar body type), I like her style and music (esp. in the "positions era"), but I find her dating history really toxic....
I find it so scary that someone can be in a happy 10-year relationship, have a child with the "love of their life" and suddenly someone bursts into their life and ruins everything.
I'm curious to see how long the relationship with Ethan will last....

Yikes…’Born in the USA’ is the last thing from a patriotic song. It’s about the service members of Vietnam being harassed, vilified, and targeted after leaving the military (this was incredibly common and happened to my dad). It’s about being made to serve one’s country either by being sold a false narrative or having no choice because you were drafted, and then having that same country hate you for it.
This reminds me of when an anthropology professor of mine commented that people think ‘Fortunate Son’ is a patriotic song. Do people not listen to lyrics?!

Just rabbit hole watching all your videos and loving all the content, as a fellow dancer / theatre and history nerd I am so happy with the amount of research and knowledge put into this analysis- but also wanted to point out that drag queens invented vogueing and cold hearted definitely was also a copy in itself (hence the fosse reference) of “take off with us”, which is a weird and incredible video for anyone who hasn’t seen it- fosse is at the heart and soul of so many pop stars and their videos ❤ ie single ladies by Beyoncé is Mexican breakfast by bob fosse / Gwen verdon and Michael Jackson got his whole style from fosse (like him in the og little prince movie)

So, I watched this after the video you made about Drake Bell/cycle of abuse. There’s a lot I’ve been wondering about Ariana Grande after Quiet on Set came out. Maybe her jumping into these relationships full force, even her latest affair with a married man are further extensions of Schneider’s abuse. Looking for male validation, thinking of other women as threats, acting younger/more naive than she is…would love to see you make a video about Grande, Nickelodeon and the psychology of grooming for girls/women.

I mean, she has a right to live her life as she sees fit, and I have a right to judge it in that same capacity. And all I see is a deeply insecure woman who hasn't done any self-reflecting and is just chasing the highs of relationships rather than working on herself and finding joy in just *being* first. I don't think she's been able to truly live for herself since BEFORE her Nickelodeon days, and now she's trying to in a very disorganized way.

I used to love Arianna but her morals just turned me all the way off and her music fell off too . I seriously think she got messed up from when she used to work at Nickelodeon. Rumor was it she had always been loose though but hey it’s her life . I just don’t like when she messes with married or fully committed men. The video was stupid and she was definitely gaslighting folks . She just likes to pursue someone taken and then dump them to find another relationship to break up .

@@conveyabelt6964idk where "say it with your chest" comes from but I've heard it a long time ago. As for voguing, there's an article on National Museum of African American History and Culture titled "A Brief History of Voguing" if you're interested. Wikipedia has a page for Vogue (dance) where you could look at the cited sources for more information. Just note, voguing has ties to The Harlem Renaissance and originated amongst Black & Latino queer communities.

And I didn’t even know Vogue wasn’t started by Madonna until reading the comments so I’m glad I did. She also completely misinterpreted “Born in the USA”. The song is literally a critique of the US not a praise of it 😭
