I have been an amateur ballroom dancer for 20 years, so please allow me to share my thoughts. You are witnessing a superlative demonstration, which was only achieved after YEARS of training, hard work and effort, let alone the prodigious talent showcased here. This is a quintessential example of hours and hours of rehearsals, all their emotion is on show, nothing is hidden. The lifts require extreme fitness, core strength and flexibility. The trust this couple has in each other is truly mesmeric, they give everything to the dance. If I had 10% of their talent I would be a very happy lad. Thank you to you both

I suppose you know that this song is about the Holocaust....a man who is going to die is trying to make it easier with a prayer for love...Leonard Cohen isn't always what he looks at first sight. In fact the philosophy in his songs and life are always present but maybe we don't see it..

I suppose you know that this song is about the Holocaust....a man who is going to die is trying to make it easier with a prayer for love...Leonard Cohen isn't always what he looks at first sight. In fact the philosophy in his songs and life are always present but maybe we don't see it..

The song is really written about the holocaust. They played the violin as people were led into the gas chambers. It gives a whole other dimension to the song, doesnt it. Haunting, for sure.

Of course, the mindset of the artist doesn't necessarily have to influence how you perceive the art itself, but you cannot simply say it is incorrect. You can choose to ignore the sadness in the song or you can listen to it with the emotions it was written for. If you ignore it, yes, it is a beautiful love song; if you don't it is, in my mind, an even more beautiful love song, because what is more beautiful than a love that persists in the face of mankind's greatest cruelty?
