Few games make me feel old as WoW does. While watching classic I know and understand everything I'm watching and enjoy myself. In retail I don't know what is going on and feel like I need to take an old man nap.
Retail makes me feel too aware. I dont wanna feel my back hurt or need for water or food. I wanna be engulfed in fantasy and die half asleep in my chair the moment i ding 60
You don't. What makes asmons screen look cluttery is his actionbars are big, he has healing text enabled and he has DPS addon enabled. And also the fact that nobody really bothers to read the bossfights anymore, and rather have an AI voice guide you with enabled markers so it's even more messy if you don't know the encounter.
I decided to give Retail a try after only playing classic and the biggest learning curve I have while learning the game/tank is ground effects. I find it hard to tell in just 5 man dungeons which of the 4 different colored circles on the ground are good and bad. I get I can google each and every boss, and find out which color is good/bad but I don't want to. Either let me turn off or considerbly turn down the graphics of friendly ground effects. Boomer/lazy whatever it is I just want to be able to learn through play for something as low stakes as a dungeon.
If its a swirly or a circle that spawns under player you move out. If its a circle with like a tornado thingy in the middle move in cuz thats a soak. This covers prolly 95% of all pulls and bosses in wow

He has literally sat there and verbally swore at others for being a bit rowdy on not getting a chance on a certain piece of loot and told them to grow up or stop crying and then literally he himself goes and does just that 🤦🏻♂️ it's so bad, it's something I wish he'd think and stop doing, he's not as smart as he thinks he is at all. And I like the guy 😅, he just needs to improve!

I love how hypocritical asmon is. He ranks shadowlands as his third best expansion, but in this video he says shadowslands was one of the worst. I predict in three years
He liked it but most people hate Shadowlands so it’s one of the “worst” expansions. Even if he liked it. I also liked SL for the most part. Most people think it’s bad, but most people are not very intelligent so who cares what most people think.
Gameplay wise, shadowlands wasnt bad. It was really the zones and atmosphere of the expansion that were terrible imo. The entire zone of shadowlands was ass.
You can call me a bad gamer or what ever, I'll agree, however, the big problem with retail (for me at least) is you are go go go spamming abilities as fast as you can to top charts. Your abilities don't have any impact behind them like they do in WoW Vanilla. If I cast Frostbolt, I hit something for say 800 damage, that is a significant amount of a mob's health maybe 5% of an elite vs. retail it is probably 1% maybe 2% if you're decked out. The difference is you fire 3 or 4 of those in combo with other abilities to chain off of other player boosts to do the same damage. I played a Warlock in Dragonflight and my DPS was so low because it isn't clear how good or bad my gear is or how I can organize my rotation better without significant trial and error (that other players won't tolerate mind you) or looking stuff up on a site to get base knowledge of what is good. Nothing is evident. Everything became resource builders and resource spenders like a Rogue with combo points. I'm sure retail players enjoy the fast paced button mashing, but for me at least it turns me away. I want to dungeon, raid, and PvP, but the difference between my skill and someone who is stacked with gear and best rotation is so massive it makes me want to stop playing. I feel so inferior and I don't contribute enough to have fun. I did heroic raiding with my GF's friend's guild but I was told to please leave because I am being so massively destroyed in DPS by Mythic raid geared Warlocks that my presence only serves to make the mobs have higher stats making the Mythic geared players work harder to make up for my lack of DPS. Note I was lucky to be funneled gear in that raid so by the end I was heroic geared for the most part, but there was no substitute for having a lacking rotation. My rotation seemed logical, but I just couldn't keep up. It's not like retail is completely trash, it's just the gameplay goes over my head and is hard to understand. I'm clearly not the audience anymore and it shows. Current WoW is setup for people who min/max to the extreme and have a rotation down to the second. Gone are the days where you can chill in Molten Core press some buttons and do decent or go more serious and top the charts. At the same time, I'm not a collector, so I don't care for retail's solo collection experience. The game is all around not my thing anymore. TL;DR - Too much button mashing, complex rotations, min/maxing, super serious mode. It's not my speed and it shows when I try to give it a serious shot which is disappointing.

I feel like part of your bad experience was from playing warlock, unfortunately that class doesn't have a beginner-friendly spec maybe you couldve been doing fine "just playing logically" with a few others that are way easier they're all about building and spending though, and most of them dont want you to miss a GCD. that part is pretty homogenized in retail yes
I can resonate with this a lot. I’m a newer player to WoW (have only played for about 1.5 years) and I’ve had a lot of difficulty with the same issues you’ve listed here. I do my best to learn and keep up with mechanics, rotations, etc. but people will kick you from dungeons and raids so fast that it can be hard to learn. Sometimes they’ll tell me why they kicked me and what I can do to improve, but most of the time they just do it without even saying why, so I’m left guessing what it is I’d screwed up. But all of that together makes it difficult to gear up close to the preferred i-lvl which is always increasing it seems. I like retail just fine in general, but it’s definitely hard for folks who have a bit of a learning curve to work through as well. Best of luck with your WoW adventures!!

Yet...basically EVERYTHING is just given to him as he is carried along for being a streamer and he remains UNHAPPY 95% of the run! lol I really like Asmon videos, but I do not like watching his videos when he is gaming with other in like MMOs where is entitlement out shines everything and everyone. Where Asmon talks about you can only go to whitemane, I literally submitted a ticket to blizzard about it because I have 7 toons I wanted to move to grobbulus, but I can't because I can only go to whitemane which is 99% horde and all my people are alliance. Blizzard told me to build a community on the server I was on....... This issue needs to be fixed. I just quit again cause I'm not paying 80+$ to move all my characters.

3:39:15 I feel like the main issue doesn't come from addons only but more the leveling curve. Basicaly rn the game starts when you are max level with good gear. Everything is done to make you grind asap to max level max gear. The issue with this is that you are too quickly exposed to all these settings to change, to all those abilities to bind and to all those addons to setup. Back in the day you would spend several weeks/monks leveling your character, slowly improving your UI i nthe meantime. When you would join your first raid, you would not even have a single addon. You would then slowly start improving your UI. Another concerning issue is related with how WoW manages the addon compatibilites thorughout each update. I think that it is a shame that each patch Blizzard does several updates ot the LUA interpretor rules for the addons that developpers have to adapte to. Those updates should exist, but they should always make sure if possible to make the old addons still working with no issue. Nowadays each time I play even several months after the release of a new patch and with all addons up to date there are many LUA errors popping on the screen, even errors from extremly popular addons. (Sometimes even errors from the native WoW UI) Finally, I think that the new WoW interface was a good idea but poorly executed. The UI is pretty messy imo and adds to this feeling that every corner of the screen is occupated. I don't know how to express this but I think that they could make it more minimalist, especialy on the UI theme. I think that the old UI was doing a better job at being clean while being sadly less customizable.
for the leveling it can be a strength and a drawback, for me like me leveling is such a boring phase i hate classic for that and the top level is so interesting but yeah you are right for beginner sometime it can be too hard to learn all of this thing

Overinflation existed in no time during Classic because there was a demand for the service, and it was filled. im so glad that so many people never encountered real and hard trauma in their time on earth. Just as an idea. Anduin is a child, grows up without a mother(he only hears how awesome she was) and a father that fights depression and the vanishes. gets kidnapped by a dragon, later made a child hostage by dark iron dwarfs while in IF. has a father that returns with anger issues and nothing he does is good enought for Varian, until Malfurion helps him out of his trauma. Gets allmost killed by an psycho ork warchief and needs long time to heal like all brocken bones. Finally makes up with his dad (and then dad dies) And now as a Teen/young adult has to shoulder all that was his larger then life dad did. (and Varian had big shoes to fill) Has to go to battle as a young adult/teen and fight a crazy spycho zombie elf , starts to like saurfang and see another father figure in a way die. gets taken hostage in shadowlands and forced/tortured to do stuff he doesnt want and at the same time your personality and soul ripped to pieces. And now he suffers and has all the (in the animation) signs of ex soldier/torture victims PTSD signs and still everyone calls him a B. (imagine this is the way all Army Veterans feel and nobody gives a damn about them in the end, because MAN up men cant and arent allowed to suffer and show it)
for me it's more like Blizzard make Anduin looks like this. they have several chance to make the character grow up after BFA. but somehow they need to make he go down again and again. I'm not say a man need to be though. but blizzard overuse this image for him imo

@retrorewind6042 start out at normal and work your way up like everyone else. Hell he could even do LFR. You don't need to jump straight to 20s for keys he could easily do 10s or even 11s and work his way up. Being handed gear won't improve him and his so called 'skill'

There’s a certain degree to which the level of expertise wow players expect before you can comment on the game is absurd. The level of knowledge and experience he has with the game is very high. He led a good guild for many years and was a successful raider in a wide variety of the game’s years. If the only people who can talk about the game are successful contemporary players who are still wedged up the games ass, then the criticism will never go anywhere because you’re only really listening to people who still find the game worth being heavily invested in. Very regressive idea of who gets to talk about world of Warcraft.

Debating on whether to resub for 10.2 or not tbh, i'm not overly keen to spend money only to raid log once or twice a week - was there any indication/mention of other side quests to do at all? Feels like quests take a back seat these days and any that are available are over and done with really quickly :/
@@TheMysteryMushroom - just general quests that progress story (not necessarily main story) i dont aim to do them all in one go, but i jst feel like a quest is completed rather quickly these days (took me a day and ahalf to get to max level and doing all available side Q's when expac released, so i kinda felt like there wasnt much substance to the game beyond grinding the same dungeons/raids for gear etc) Took me longer to get over to Lunedane to speak to Shandris than it did to actually complete the quest from her, lol
Asmon I just thought of a video idea! Do a raid. Collect all the gear that drops. Host a transmog comp at the end. Winner gets all the gear from the whole run. Retail is honestly extremely fun! I'm looking forward to the future of retail. If you disagree, try reminding your self its a game and stop playing with a metagame playstyle. Start making your own builds, and play the class you think is cool and you will be surprised on how much you're actually missing. Walk up to a stranger in game and just start interacting with them regardless of their ilvl or even lvl.
On the cinamatic, I think calling it a therapy session is reasonable. But it really was Thrall telling Anduin to step up and stop hiding. So it was acknowledging that Anduin wasn't right in running away and he needs to take action and responsibility.
The problem we had with Liberty Falls was that it just didn't actually look like a zombies map it just looked like a multiplayer map or warzone poi that they just plopped into zombies. Its mainly a theme issue

Don't think he'll see this, but you can turn off a bit of the visual clutter. Especially from other players. It doesn't solve the problem completely but it helps a bit.

I haven’t played retail since the Shadowlands pre-patch in BFA, and have opted to do SoD and classic instead but I’m ngl this actually looks fun. Especially those mythic dungeons, the bosses have really cool mechanics. I just wish they could get the vibe right with retail, as opposed to whiny deviantart Scalies and then the game may be competitive again
As blizz woman said in recent interview, they do it for "modern audience". They are used to scroll intense tiktok content every second and still stay focused on every mindless crap. Dense VFX effects are the main pleasure for them.
1 minute into the video and I'm getting PTSD from all the effects. It's a mess. Stats / DPS already feel like they're inflating too much again even over the course of 1 expansion
Like any other game, the difficulty level increases over time. During your experience, you learn how to play your character. During m+ progression you learn mechanics. Asmon went over +20, i.e. the end game. When you play alone and gain experience, it is not as difficult as it may seem.
I like it when Asmon plays and discusses the game with these high level players. I think it would be great if he played more, even occasionally and needing to get carried. This gives a better understanding of the state of the game.
It's so easy to not play WoW for a while and just look back and think about all the reasons you stopped playing or "hated" on the game - but then a while later you come back and realize that in that haze of thinking about the stuff ya didn't like and that had you stop playing before, you realize you forgot about the simple but satisfying things you enjoy about the game, which for us long-time WoW gamers is a lot more than the things we dislike about it. Sometimes, new ideas don't work, sometimes they do. Can't blame them for trying to be innovative though - that said, I think *one* criticism that blizzard gets about WoW is warranted - and that's that they've not listened or reacted in good time to when the players tell them "this doesn't feel good, please change it". They've been a bit better about this in Dragonflight, and honestly I'm really excited for the future of WoW and what it'll bring regarding the news about the World-soul saga and what the team is looking to achieve in terms of QOL for people playing alts. and the general respect towards the players' invested time.
Speaking of "hard to see things", I swear, the entire time I watched these battles you recorded, I was able to distinguish not one single thing, not one detail, not a single player. That's just not right. You're quite correct, Asmongold: comprehensive game-playing clarity and conveyance of visual understanding must be the primary concern of every developer in the company. If every one of them isn't on board with this simple, effective, vital philosophy, the game WILL SUFFER.
Such a time sink. I leveled 1 to 70 and i didnt lift, talk to anyone or shower or basically do anything except buy snacks. Totally worth it for escapism. Especially if you last played at shadowlands. The changes made are mostly cool in casual pve and character progression. From 60 on you feel your character getting stronger each level with each new quest reward. Pretty fun 7.5/10 Update got a new job after 6 years of unemployment and chose part time so I could continue leveling all classes to 30 then 60.
I think I still like the Charged Bolts more. I did this previously when i was experimenting with things but I've been having so much fun with Charged Bolts.
I haven’t played since the end of vanilla/tbc due to irl stuff. I returned a week ago to retail, it was overwhelming af but I LOVE IT , tried classic and can’t get into it. I’m hooked and won’t be going anywhere
BFA Sold me on the idea of Horde VS Alliance was a thing again. But that was really just a lie. Thought the islands was a cool idea for more PvEvP stuff. Shadowlands sold me on the Afterlife of WoW. Which could have been the coolest thing ever but it turned into ancient things made by ancients. so idk it was just strange. Dragon riding sold me on Dragon riding because its Dragon riding. Now I'm focused on gaining enough in game Gold to never have to pay Blizzard another cent. Luv this madness
i remember playing acracne mage, and when i got mana shield i went to stockades, learned to pull and control mobs, and ran it one mob at a time until i was able to clear them much faster as i leveled up. lfg tool didnt exist and i didnt have gold for AH and didnt have a guild. i wish i never deleted that mage
Asmond you are so against the wow token. It takes away from the integrity of the game you said. but you constantly have people funnel you gold and items in the game. where is your integrity? why not earn your gear like the rest of us? by the way you have a 416 item level ? at 6:22 buying a level boost to 70 gets you 424 item level. I got one when i bought the next expansion.
Super mega pleb here, should I wait for War WIthin or buy Dragonflight? Currently playing Classic WotLk but I kind of want to give Retail a try. I usually play rogue, thief archetypes in MMO's.
I've played all of Dragonflight and it's been really good honestly, the only problem has been lack of other players. Yeah maybe the story has been a bit weak but the gameplay is pretty solid I think. If you play Subtlety (or outlaw) rogue you will be doing good damage too. Not sure I can recommend you giving it a try, as it's very different to Classic. But I think this is the best expansion in many years, and I've played since 2005
Solid gameplay, weak setting and story - it's better than everything else since legion, but I'm not digging the vibe, so it's kinda hard to really get into it
You could also give demon hunter a try as well, both rogues and demon hunter are getting reworks next patch so now is a great time to jump in. With that being said they also introduced a lvl 70 boost with ilvl420 gear should you like the class but my advice is take your time and learn the class as it grows.
Your personal comments at the end really touched me mort. I was the same age as you when I got this. It helped me escape life for hundreds of hours. Proud of you brother, we all make it out if we push hard enough
Can't honestly take these idiots repeatedly bashing Anduin over being weak, like your depth is like a pothole if you can't possibly see him struggling with being used for and doing evil actions even if he was "mind-controlled". It fits his character very well too as he's always been blue-eyed and fragile. Yeah okay I get it you guys want big burly tough men who fight and die for honor or something
Come on, wow always attracted the hyper masculine types. Just look at the old art. People were looking for explosions and sword clashing for the expansion trailer, and they got a therapy session instead.
I don't mind him being fragile and sensitive, I think it's pretty cool. But I thought they handled him very well as a tragic character arc, especially with this trailer
No no no. You all got it wrong. Anduin is a actually representing the WoW playerbase after surviving the last few expansions. We've been struggling and have PTSD from blizzard constantly screwing us over. Thrall is Metzen, trying to comfort us and let us know things will get better but we're to skeptical after being let down for so long now.

@@xX0BlackCloud0Xx idk a quick google search pointed out that this is fairly normal and most classes have 5-6 max skills they use. For reference, XIV has a similar sized hotbar but literally every button is used within a 120s window (90% are used every 60s)
@@lushen952 I would say most classes use double what you said. 5 buttons rotation and 5-6 abilities to use over 2 minutes. Everything else is utility, auras, defensives. Around 27-30 binds for each class sounds reasonable.

I really like mega dungeons as a concept. I think MMOs would perform better if the significant endgame content could be played with 5 people, and no, mythic plus does not count. Playing the same dungeon with bigger numbers is effing lame.

You don't. What makes asmons screen look cluttery is his actionbars are big, he has healing text enabled and he has DPS addon enabled.
And also the fact that nobody really bothers to read the bossfights anymore, and rather have an AI voice guide you with enabled markers so it's even more messy if you don't know the encounter.

I decided to give Retail a try after only playing classic and the biggest learning curve I have while learning the game/tank is ground effects. I find it hard to tell in just 5 man dungeons which of the 4 different colored circles on the ground are good and bad. I get I can google each and every boss, and find out which color is good/bad but I don't want to. Either let me turn off or considerbly turn down the graphics of friendly ground effects. Boomer/lazy whatever it is I just want to be able to learn through play for something as low stakes as a dungeon.
Turn spell density down to half or essential. It will make it so you only see some friendly effects and all enemy effects (plus all your own)
If its a swirly or a circle that spawns under player you move out. If its a circle with like a tornado thingy in the middle move in cuz thats a soak. This covers prolly 95% of all pulls and bosses in wow

You can call me a bad gamer or what ever, I'll agree, however, the big problem with retail (for me at least) is you are go go go spamming abilities as fast as you can to top charts. Your abilities don't have any impact behind them like they do in WoW Vanilla. If I cast Frostbolt, I hit something for say 800 damage, that is a significant amount of a mob's health maybe 5% of an elite vs. retail it is probably 1% maybe 2% if you're decked out. The difference is you fire 3 or 4 of those in combo with other abilities to chain off of other player boosts to do the same damage. I played a Warlock in Dragonflight and my DPS was so low because it isn't clear how good or bad my gear is or how I can organize my rotation better without significant trial and error (that other players won't tolerate mind you) or looking stuff up on a site to get base knowledge of what is good. Nothing is evident. Everything became resource builders and resource spenders like a Rogue with combo points. I'm sure retail players enjoy the fast paced button mashing, but for me at least it turns me away. I want to dungeon, raid, and PvP, but the difference between my skill and someone who is stacked with gear and best rotation is so massive it makes me want to stop playing. I feel so inferior and I don't contribute enough to have fun. I did heroic raiding with my GF's friend's guild but I was told to please leave because I am being so massively destroyed in DPS by Mythic raid geared Warlocks that my presence only serves to make the mobs have higher stats making the Mythic geared players work harder to make up for my lack of DPS. Note I was lucky to be funneled gear in that raid so by the end I was heroic geared for the most part, but there was no substitute for having a lacking rotation. My rotation seemed logical, but I just couldn't keep up. It's not like retail is completely trash, it's just the gameplay goes over my head and is hard to understand. I'm clearly not the audience anymore and it shows. Current WoW is setup for people who min/max to the extreme and have a rotation down to the second. Gone are the days where you can chill in Molten Core press some buttons and do decent or go more serious and top the charts. At the same time, I'm not a collector, so I don't care for retail's solo collection experience. The game is all around not my thing anymore.
TL;DR - Too much button mashing, complex rotations, min/maxing, super serious mode. It's not my speed and it shows when I try to give it a serious shot which is disappointing.

I can resonate with this a lot. I’m a newer player to WoW (have only played for about 1.5 years) and I’ve had a lot of difficulty with the same issues you’ve listed here. I do my best to learn and keep up with mechanics, rotations, etc. but people will kick you from dungeons and raids so fast that it can be hard to learn. Sometimes they’ll tell me why they kicked me and what I can do to improve, but most of the time they just do it without even saying why, so I’m left guessing what it is I’d screwed up. But all of that together makes it difficult to gear up close to the preferred i-lvl which is always increasing it seems. I like retail just fine in general, but it’s definitely hard for folks who have a bit of a learning curve to work through as well. Best of luck with your WoW adventures!!

I feel like the main issue doesn't come from addons only but more the leveling curve.
Basicaly rn the game starts when you are max level with good gear. Everything is done to make you grind asap to max level max gear.
The issue with this is that you are too quickly exposed to all these settings to change, to all those abilities to bind and to all those addons to setup.
Back in the day you would spend several weeks/monks leveling your character, slowly improving your UI i nthe meantime. When you would join your first raid, you would not even have a single addon. You would then slowly start improving your UI.
Another concerning issue is related with how WoW manages the addon compatibilites thorughout each update. I think that it is a shame that each patch Blizzard does several updates ot the LUA interpretor rules for the addons that developpers have to adapte to. Those updates should exist, but they should always make sure if possible to make the old addons still working with no issue.
Nowadays each time I play even several months after the release of a new patch and with all addons up to date there are many LUA errors popping on the screen, even errors from extremly popular addons. (Sometimes even errors from the native WoW UI)
Finally, I think that the new WoW interface was a good idea but poorly executed. The UI is pretty messy imo and adds to this feeling that every corner of the screen is occupated. I don't know how to express this but I think that they could make it more minimalist, especialy on the UI theme. I think that the old UI was doing a better job at being clean while being sadly less customizable.
for the leveling it can be a strength and a drawback, for me like me leveling is such a boring phase i hate classic for that and the top level is so interesting but yeah you are right for beginner sometime it can be too hard to learn all of this thing

Overinflation existed in no time during Classic because there was a demand for the service, and it was filled. There’s a certain degree to which the level of expertise wow players expect before you can comment on the game is absurd. The level of knowledge and experience he has with the game is very high. He led a good guild for many years and was a successful raider in a wide variety of the game’s years. If the only people who can talk about the game are successful contemporary players who are still wedged up the games ass, then the criticism will never go anywhere because you’re only really listening to people who still find the game worth being heavily invested in. Very regressive idea of who gets to talk about world of Warcraft.

Debating on whether to resub for 10.2 or not tbh, i'm not overly keen to spend money only to raid log once or twice a week - was there any indication/mention of other side quests to do at all? Feels like quests take a back seat these days and any that are available are over and done with really quickly :/
With the new zone, I'd think they'd have a quest line at least. The other seasons added dailies as well.

i dont aim to do them all in one go, but i jst feel like a quest is completed rather quickly these days (took me a day and ahalf to get to max level and doing all available side Q's when expac released, so i kinda felt like there wasnt much substance to the game beyond grinding the same dungeons/raids for gear etc) Took me longer to get over to Lunedane to speak to Shandris than it did to actually complete the quest from her, lol
All the world content is getting scaled to season 3 ilvl plus all the new story quests.

Do a raid. Collect all the gear that drops. Host a transmog comp at the end. Winner gets all the gear from the whole run.
Retail is honestly extremely fun! I'm looking forward to the future of retail.
If you disagree, try reminding your self its a game and stop playing with a metagame playstyle. Start making your own builds, and play the class you think is cool and you will be surprised on how much you're actually missing. Walk up to a stranger in game and just start interacting with them regardless of their ilvl or even lvl.
On the cinamatic, I think calling it a therapy session is reasonable. But it really was Thrall telling Anduin to step up and stop hiding. So it was acknowledging that Anduin wasn't right in running away and he needs to take action and responsibility.
The problem we had with Liberty Falls was that it just didn't actually look like a zombies map it just looked like a multiplayer map or warzone poi that they just plopped into zombies. Its mainly a theme issue

Don't think he'll see this, but you can turn off a bit of the visual clutter. Especially from other players. It doesn't solve the problem completely but it helps a bit.

I haven’t played retail since the Shadowlands pre-patch in BFA, and have opted to do SoD and classic instead but I’m ngl this actually looks fun. Especially those mythic dungeons, the bosses have really cool mechanics. As blizz woman said in recent interview, they do it for "modern audience". They are used to scroll intense tiktok content every second and still stay focused on every mindless crap. Dense VFX effects are the main pleasure for them.

1 minute into the video and I'm getting PTSD from all the effects. It's a mess. Stats / DPS already feel like they're inflating too much again even over the course of 1 expansion
Like any other game, the difficulty level increases over time. During your experience, you learn how to play your character. During m+ progression you learn mechanics. Asmon went over +20, i.e. the end game. When you play alone and gain experience, it is not as difficult as it may seem.

I like it when Asmon plays and discusses the game with these high level players. I think it would be great if he played more, even occasionally and needing to get carried. This gives a better understanding of the state of the game.
It's so easy to not play WoW for a while and just look back and think about all the reasons you stopped playing or "hated" on the game - but then a while later you come back and realize that in that haze of thinking about the stuff ya didn't like and that had you stop playing before, you realize you forgot about the simple but satisfying things you enjoy about the game, which for us long-time WoW gamers is a lot more than the things we dislike about it.
Sometimes, new ideas don't work, sometimes they do. Can't blame them for trying to be innovative though - that said, I think *one* criticism that blizzard gets about WoW is warranted - and that's that they've not listened or reacted in good time to when the players tell them "this doesn't feel good, please change it". They've been a bit better about this in Dragonflight, and honestly I'm really excited for the future of WoW and what it'll bring regarding the news about the World-soul saga and what the team is looking to achieve in terms of QOL for people playing alts. and the general respect towards the players' invested time.
Speaking of "hard to see things", I swear, the entire time I watched these battles you recorded, I was able to distinguish not one single thing, not one detail, not a single player. That's just not right. You're quite correct, Asmongold: comprehensive game-playing clarity and conveyance of visual understanding must be the primary concern of every developer in the company. If every one of them isn't on board with this simple, effective, vital philosophy, the game WILL SUFFER.
Such a time sink. I leveled 1 to 70 and i didnt lift, talk to anyone or shower or basically do anything except buy snacks. Totally worth it for escapism. Especially if you last played at shadowlands. The changes made are mostly cool in casual pve and character progression. From 60 on you feel your character getting stronger each level with each new quest reward. Pretty fun 7.5/10
Update got a new job after 6 years of unemployment and chose part time so I could continue leveling all classes to 30 then 60.
I think I still like the Charged Bolts more. I did this previously when i was experimenting with things but I've been having so much fun with Charged Bolts.

BFA Sold me on the idea of Horde VS Alliance was a thing again. But that was really just a lie. Thought the islands was a cool idea for more PvEvP stuff. Shadowlands sold me on the Afterlife of WoW. Which could have been the coolest thing ever but it turned into ancient things made by ancients. so idk it was just strange. Dragon riding sold me on Dragon riding because its Dragon riding. Now I'm focused on gaining enough in game Gold to never have to pay Blizzard another cent. Luv this madness

i remember playing acracne mage, and when i got mana shield i went to stockades, learned to pull and control mobs, and ran it one mob at a time until i was able to clear them much faster as i leveled up. lfg tool didnt exist and i didnt have gold for AH and didnt have a guild. i wish i never deleted that mage

It takes away from the integrity of the game you said. but you constantly have people funnel you gold and items in the game. where is your integrity? why not earn your gear like the rest of us? by the way you have a 416 item level ? at 6:22 buying a level boost to 70 gets you 424 item level. I got one when i bought the next expansion.
Super mega pleb here, should I wait for War WIthin or buy Dragonflight? Currently playing Classic WotLk but I kind of want to give Retail a try. I usually play rogue, thief archetypes in MMO's.
I've played all of Dragonflight and it's been really good honestly, the only problem has been lack of other players. Yeah maybe the story has been a bit weak but the gameplay is pretty solid I think. If you play Subtlety (or outlaw) rogue you will be doing good damage too. Not sure I can recommend you giving it a try, as it's very different to Classic. But I think this is the best expansion in many years, and I've played since 2005
Solid gameplay, weak setting and story - it's better than everything else since legion, but I'm not digging the vibe, so it's kinda hard to really get into it

You could also give demon hunter a try as well, both rogues and demon hunter are getting reworks next patch so now is a great time to jump in. With that being said they also introduced a lvl 70 boost with ilvl420 gear should you like the class but my advice is take your time and learn the class as it grows.

No no no. You all got it wrong. Anduin is a actually representing the WoW playerbase after surviving the last few expansions. We've been struggling and have PTSD from blizzard constantly screwing us over. Thrall is Metzen, trying to comfort us and let us know things will get better but we're to skeptical after being let down for so long now.

As an XIV player....watching asmons rotation consist of literally 4 buttons despite the massive hotbar really hurt.
Fury warrior is the easiest melee rotation there is. Most buttons are utility.
@@xX0BlackCloud0Xx idk a quick google search pointed out that this is fairly normal and most classes have 5-6 max skills they use.
For reference, XIV has a similar sized hotbar but literally every button is used within a 120s window (90% are used every 60s)
@@lushen952 I would say most classes use double what you said. 5 buttons rotation and 5-6 abilities to use over 2 minutes. Everything else is utility, auras, defensives. Around 27-30 binds for each class sounds reasonable.

The only job hitting 12 in main rotation is ninja
I really like mega dungeons as a concept. I think MMOs would perform better if the significant endgame content could be played with 5 people, and no, mythic plus does not count. Playing the same dungeon with bigger numbers is effing lame.

WoW is in a very good place now, especially endgame is pretty much better then it was in Legion
