Vaughn is my great great uncle. His brother, Vincent, is my great grandfather. I unfortunately don't know as much about Vaughn as I'd like to, and I found this video while doing some research on him. It's amazing to see just how impactful his art was for so many people. I'm looking into every article and documentary I can find right now, and I'm considering getting in touch with some family members to see what they can remember.

    Cheo!
Love your work and this video!
    Thank you.
As a west coast USA writer I share a very similar BODE (for years we thought it was "Boday") discovery story.
And yes, have been blessed enough to meet and know Mark and am thankful beyond words to have these life experiences.

I never comment on TH-cam, but I have to say, I love your videos Cheo. I've been following your Instagram since 2012 and you are to me, what Vaughn Bode are to you. As a request, could you do a "art setup tour" or "Studio tour" and show where you draw and what supplies you use etc? :)

In college in the '70's I did a cartoon strip for the college newspaper... it was almost a total swipe of Bode's style, but instead of Lizards I used Frogs... 🤣🤣🤣

Hi, I just subscribed, I'm fascinated with Vaughn's art and I want to draw like him, where should I start, should I just copy his drawings till I get how his drawing techniques work?

I absolutely love the Bristolian accent! I am originally from Bemmy/Bedminster. I currently live abroad so it's great to hear an accent to make me feel at home. Honestly it's epic to see someone so passionate about their art and someone elses. I've seen your work all over the place and there was one that caught my eye in Kingswood on the Black Horse Pub wall.

Some of my family from Bristol mate, my dad used to get sent there in his summer holidays. That accent is one that takes me back to visiting when I was a kid. Spraycan Art was my first in 1987. I think I'm a couple of years younger than you. Finally managed to find Bode comics in 1990. Blew my mind. I've got a fine collection now.

Hiyah,Artist.Dont feel bad about stealing art materials, you were in the grip of a passion to Create, has nothing to do with Morality. Vaughn would rip off the Syracuse University Bookstore for art materials every time he went in the place, he taught me how to do it. I attended Syracuse from 66 to 70, with Vaughn,we often collaborated, l could paint, he could design. I could write longer stories, but he hated doing long stuff. That Cheech goes to da moom story was about as long as he ever did. He had no idea what to do for a long Cobalt 60 story, that wound up in my hands, with Mark doing the art( Mostly...)My Hand showed strongly of Von for a few years, until a bit of time with the Air Pirates got me back onto my original styles. However, l still use a strong holding line and a white outer outline," to separate the figure from the background".

I’m honoured and flattered you would take the time to comment, thanks for the insight and kind words. I have the same problem with writing, he was fortunate to have a like minded person who could fill that gap. Being able to write and draw seems to be a rare talent that you posses, as a child I would write the title to a story do a huge drawing then give up and move on.
Thanks again for your input you made my day.
