Another classis piece from San Jose serenaders. Thanks for posting Arnold. The lead vocalist , back up singers , musicians, and marack man are all excellent. These singers have superior vocal chords. The overall performance is beyond excellent.
Wow what a voice! ...Now this is how I remembered Parang growing up in Trinidad. Hi Arnold, I remember you and your brothers from Fatima. Thank you sir for sharing this. It is a gem for us who who experinced the art form back then, and for our kids who have never. The young lady in this video has more than done justice to these songs with her beautiful singing. This is a gem. The pronunciation is amazing. What is even more amazing is the fast pace of the music and the lead singer’s ability to keep up without compromising the quality of the song. The back up singers are a fantastic complement.
I guess this was after the chorus singer and her husband hijacked and broke up the original San Jose. Perhaps Arnold can give us some history of the breakup and the aftermath. My brother, Curtis Leslie, was a key member of the original San Jose but I never got the history from him.
Curtis is a living legend of the Parang fraternity. He is certainly one of the founding members of the original San Jose. His contribution has been enormous. Change is inevitable in life; and from the Hill Toppers, came San Jose, and then two other groups emerged to form Flores de San Jose, and Nuestra Cosa- dem San Jose boys. The art form of parang has benefitted from that evolution from one San Jose to three wonderful groups.
