Italian players are a gamble, no pun intended. Calafiori does seem like a perfect match for Liverpool if the Reds are going to use TAA as an inverted fullback, or whatever advanced role Slot creates for him. Can see Calafiori in a makeshift back three with Van Dijk and Quansah to his right.

Looked a bit shit last night, but we should not discount a player on one bad game. My only concerns are in Italian football he has a lot more time when defending, in the prem its 100 mph football. Italy is more like 55mph.

He was great the majority of the game. Reminiscent of Matip v Spurs, it wasn't really his fault and he was imperious and showed good dribbling and passing under pressure from CB. Sign him up imo

Yeah Calafiori did well against Spain, looked good in both phases of play. Made one “mistake” but Spain was bound to get lucky once.

There's no english defender in the history of football that can match the best italians. "Italian John Stones" is so ridiculously english-centred I cant stop laughing 😂

So Calafiori is a potentially good player - but being compared to John Stones - a donkey with a turn slower than a cruise liner and the pace of slug. This is a very harsh comparison - I feel for the lad.

Ladislav Krejci, Jean Clair Todibo, Lutsharel Geertrudia are all much better options, the Italian boy is a donkey where pace is concerned

Please don't compare Italian defenses with the poor English ones!! they will never learn
