There's a funny quirk with the ground pound; when Wario slams into the ground, a vibrato effect is added to the stage's bgm for as long as the screen shakes. Like when you shake a casette player.
a moth The game does so much to transform and distort the audio that the cleaned up rips barely sound like the same songs at times, it's really impressive that they did it all on the GBA.
@@Aboveup, even the clean rip of Hurry Up doesn't sound as accurate considering it uses so much vibrato effects, which isn't an effect that can be easily ripped from GBA games (a common GBA music ripper called "GBAMusRiper" rips the song data and converts them into MIDI files, which don't use vibrato).
It's been almost 6 years since this video game out, and I'd like to think a new wave of appreciation has risen for Wairo Land 4. Glad it's finally getting the respect and admiration it deserves. Edit: 3:40-3:43 eh, wouldn't necessarily say Wario's transformations are like Kirby's; Kirby's transformations expands his movement and attack options, whereas Wario's transformations basically replace his moveset with a different one, and can be just as much of a hindrance as they are beneficial. Edit: 6:01 - Also, you don't use the money you get during stages to buy items for the boss fight, you use the money from stages to play minigames, from which you win tokens which you use to buy the items. Feels like a round-about way to use the money to help you, if you ask me, especially since I'm kind of "eh" on two of the three minigames.
I really like this game .. What I really like is the "Hurry Up" music because it creates a clock build-up type of sound indicating that time is running out and that you need to hurry up and go back to the start of the game ⏱️⏲️⏱️⏲️
A lot of comments are about "how good was this game" or "i loved it when i was a kid" and i played it a lot and liked it too much, but...am i the only one who felt a lot of anxiety and fear because of that kind of bosses? I mean...their expressions and their sounds were so...fucked up for a kid like i was. Still a great game.
I hope Nintendo puts this game on the Nintendo Switch one day. I absolutely loved this game growing up. Honestly can not tell you how many hours, I spent playing this as a teen. Even after beating the game, there was several levels, I just had to go back and play in
I have heard about Wario Land by name only, but thanks to this review, I can see what kind of game series this is, and one word that is on my head for it is 'surreal' 5/5 review, would definitely buy the game when getting a chance.
You can cheese Cractus very easily by hitting it near the second ladder to the right and then repeatedly reclimbing the ladders and hitting it on its head again and again.
I must have played this forever ago but never appreciated it enough (more into beat em ups, typical platformers and RPGs) to finish it or go back to the others. It looks spectacular visually for a 2001 GBA game and I think I'd appreciate the concept much more now. I was surprised to find a platformer with such an unconventional health system (or rather many "attacks" gave transformations) but I did like how it diversified gameplay then. Nice review as usual.
Yeah, it's really interesting how different all the stages are even within the same world. It keeps things fresh in a way you rarely get from a platformer.
I‘m kinda disappointed that nobody ever talks about WarioLand 3 in reviews like this. Sure, 1 and 2 are important to talk about, but 3 introduced the 4 chests pro level structure, even though it’s less linear and each chest counts as a goal. But Infeel like the Metroidvania like structure of 3 is super innovative. There’s even a day-night cycle!
I remember that I was always hoping we’d get a Wario Land on 3DS with super stylized sprite work, and maybe even foreground and background mechanics from the VB game
Wario land 4 is one of those rare perfect titles which aged like fine wine. As a kid the artstyle and music was mindblowing, and it surely left a mark on me which lasts a lifetime. I always wondered who is the director of this game?
i played this game way back in the days, and let me tell ya, this game is gold. it gots everything you never asked for!! the creepy audio which leads to a very unsettling audio if you listen to the music for 30 minutes it don't matter which one as long as you pay attention, it happens, but furthermore this game's design was so spot on, i love it.
This was my very first game for my Game Boy and man do I not regret playing this game. Literally I dedicated so much time to beat Golden Diva and to even just get to her. The characters were so creative and beautiful, and so fun to fight. Very strange but very amazing games.

I loved this game and I was hoping to see more new ones but, they didn't happen or I am super blind. Heck If it ever hits the Switch I'll buy and play it again.
I absolutely love Wario. His existence is all about being the opposite to Mario. Mario is out to save Peach and the Mushroom Kingdom, whereas Wario doesn't give a damn and just wants to collect all of the gold he can. He's rude, loud, aggressive and plain. Almost not a Nintendo character. Charles Martinet did an outstanding job with his voice acting too.
I feel like nobody ever talks about Wario games. They’re underrated gems.
Don't worry, is not true.

its one of warios greatest acheivements
Great review! You've really been stepping it up.
Thank you, Mandy.
1 of my favourite games of ALL time!

My favourite game on my gameboy but it did scare the shit out of me

Still a great game.
Uoz A Capa it was their messed up manga-esque expressions
Yeah, the game disturbed me to the point that it actually hindered my enjoyment of the game until I got older
E. Wait til you see Wario World
LOOK GUYS LOOK, IT'S ONE OF MY GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT WARIO LAND 4 ON THE GAMEBOY ADVANCE
A H A A H A AND LOOK GUYS LOOK THE VIRTUAL BOY ULTIMATE CLASIC SYSTEM
finally some good ahh art
Anxiety is my favorite stage
This is easily one of my favorite games ever. Just... Bursting at the seams with creativity and personality.
It’s his greatest achievement!
I got this game as a kid when I first got my GBA. I could play it for hours today
Same
That sound test room always scared me as a kid lol, like what were they thinking with those weird sounds and human, digitized Wario actors

I know that feeling. It's a great game, and it would be nice if more people got a chance to play it on another system.
This was my first Nintendo game and I loved it

I remember feeling bliss as a child when wario escapes the pyramid and is driving back.

This video is amazing! It’s so professional, and it brought back so many memories playing this as a kid, thank you! :D

Limmy reference made me subscribe
Hearing that boss fight music again gives me anxiety 😅
Absolute genius! I'm very fortunate to have this treasure.
That intro for Wario Land 4 is the best. His pimp mobile rocks.
Used to love this as kid

Warioland 4 was THE best GBA game.
Couldn't agree more. People need to try this one if they haven't.

I think this was my first ever video game
Wario Land 4 will never receive any recognition from Nintendo.
Very impressive this game just like Drilldozer it oozes with charm with a lot variety in animations and great platforming..
We should start a discord dedicated to getting custom levels into this game. I've seen one so I know it's possible

Fantastic review and that limmy refrence
Very enjoyable and well done review 👍
Wario Land 4 was the best thing ever on the GBA. I miss the series so much
Wario Land 5 when?
Warioland shake for the Wii?
@@dickbags75 No, numbered entries. But at this point I'll take any Wario platformer

Warioland 4 and Warioware: Smooth Moves are absolute 🔥
Really caught me off guard hearing you say “if you fuck it up”, seemed a bit jarring after the first, non vulgar part of the video lol

We need a Wario Land Switch.
I love Warioland 4, but I think 3's better.
I like that the abilities you unlocked in that game are unlocked by default in 4.
I remember playing this as a kid ! I never beat it :( I hated that pirate ghost he scared me 😭
Glad I got the game back in the day in great condition and CIB before it became HELLA-expensive.
Interesting. Are you looking for GBA recommendations?
Good review
this game is so good!
Hey. Liked your video. But yeah, be careful how you curse in the video. Children may watch this and you could get flagged. Liked your review video.
In addition, the name of first patreon supporter might need to be censored 😅
Very good game and review
This is one off beat game to review, thanks for the review....
Warioland 5 ... ?? Any news
Great review!
The F-bomb at 12:03 wasn’t necessary. Otherwise, this whole thing is really great!
Look guys look it’s one of wario’s greatest achievements wario land 4 on the game boy advance
I wish they would bring back the invincibility gimmick, a Game more like WL 3 would be perfect
Mario titles beat Mario titles nearly every time
You didn't talk about the puzzle sections at all
