this is something i never had growing up. i had a bit of a rough childhood. thank you for giving this to me now, it’s been a while since i’ve had a good nights sleep. i struggle with adhd and some pretty severe trauma and these help me so much, especially when it’s bed time. i’m not sure if you’re even going to see this but the bedtime with dad videos are so so important to me and i want to say thank you for everything you do. 💕
I can tell you right now, they don’t teach this at all or even prepare us in high school unless you’re in a private school or a high school that happens to include personal finance. This is definitely something that needs to be taught at an early age. Start preparing students for real life importances like budgeting and managing finances! It’s true. Credit card debt is no joke. My parents struggled with it and sometimes still struggles with it and it was for tons of reasons and not really out of irresponsibility. Sometimes a good honest talk is relaxing and I found this helpful. Especially since I’m someone who is looking into apartments and how to be able to calculate all that I need to pay and how much I need to save, etc. this was very very helpful. Thank you for making this video!
don't know which school system you are in but i just started year 9 in a nsw (state in australia) public high school and i picked commerce as one of my elective class for this year and can for next year. also, my math topic for term one is financial math.
There’s no incentive for them to push financial literacy in US public schools. We’re way easier to control if we’re living paycheck-to-paycheck and depending on social security. It’s something we have to take into our own hands until further notice.
I just started college as a freshman in the fall and oh my gosh, the culture shock I experienced within the first week. This video was really helpful, especially because I’m working two jobs now and trying to finance while being a full time student… fun times. Thank you for this!
This video is such good advice, even for adults. I love that 1 -3-5 year financial planning idea - it really puts things in perspective. Your dad reminds me of mine - he always crunches the numbers when it comes to cars and makes things land. 😊I also loved that encouragement at the end - as a young adult you will make good decisions and also bad ones… and it’s ok. It’s part of growing and learning. ❤
This video is so good! A good talk about this that every young child needs before it starts living on its own. Good advice is so important! This video also makes me a bit emotional because I would have loved to have had this conversation with my father when I was young. We already talked about it in the stream, it was a very good topic, and I'm glad you made this video with this topic. Thank you!
THANK YOU so much for this! Im at mid twenties and god no one ever taught me that, and this is necessary. Its amazing the father i never had in real life now i find on youtube ❤
I’m 21. I work at a gas station and live at home with my parents. I go to a “cheap” private Uni and in 1.5 years I’ll have my masters in Rad Tech with a specialty in abdominal ultrasounds. I don’t have any debt and I make enough money to pay off each semester out of pocket. There’s ups and downs. I wish I had more of the college experience, and I wish it was easier to be around people my age. But I’m grateful I’m not in debt and can be financially stable enough to travel in my 20s. It’s an interesting route, but it’s working out. This video was awesome, keep it up.
We had to take a budgeting class my senior year of high school (private school). Best class ever! Loved the car talk too. I needed a bigger car so I purchased my RAV4 in 2021 when things were starting to get crazy in used car business and I got back exactly what I paid for my Camry in trade in. Just had my oil changed and the guy at the dealership acted like they’d be giving me the best deal if I “traded up”. Brand new car, same monthly payments. He said they only offer it to certain customers 😂😂. I wonder how many poor schmucks actually fall for that!
I'm 30 & I never signed up for any sort of credit card. growing up my parents almost lost our house, amongst other things & were constantly under stress & living well beyond their means. it's not a situation I ever want to be in.
This guy makes a bunch of Black Jack videos and then a financial literacy video, lol Channel lore: The Black Jack dealer is the dad and prepping his son to take over his giant casino oligarchy.
It's funny how you accuretly discribe the talks i got with my father because I'm exactly in this moment in my life and just recently (a couple days ago) got myself an appartment
This is some solid advice that would be great to hear during a high school financial literacy class.

26% interest on a $1,000 is more like $26/month, not $200. I know😂 Thank God I learned, now debt free at 31. Great video as always!
Yo this should be a series forgot blackjack

Ironic.

First you take my money, now you teach me how to invest properly
Lol
Never had conversations like this with your real dad?
I know laughing through the pain when I see it.
Don't blow it all on blackjack like me
