Great restoration Shawn! Congratulations on the 1K subs! Hopefully you can monetize your videos soon! I love your content and drum finds! Great stories! Keep it up! 🙏🏻🥁👍🏻🤘🏻😎
Thanks earl! I am monetized as well! I don't have high expectations lol I'd be happy just covering some better equipment, camera, ect. Have a great weekend!
@@shawnsdrumcave I don’t make much each year, but my talking videos bring about $300 year. So who knows? Some guys live off TH-cam… I’m not sure how 😂😂😂
@@earldrum covers don't make nearly anything correct? From what I've seen those guys have way bigger channels and several revenue streams. Were I'm clearly not an educator "drum lessons" and I'm not really into covers I'm kinda of a niche within a niche haha my expectations are very low. I know covers are a good way to get eyes on you and typically the bigger channels that do covers really do them to get other work. For me I'm just doing what I normally do, working on drums and throwing up a camera while I'm at it. I never and still do not have any expectations of being a YT sensation 🤣 it would be nice if it at least cover some of what I invested already in equipment and like I said upgrading other stuff but that will probably take decades lol also I still really have no idea as far as videography goes. I don't think people realize the time and effort it takes to do even simple videos like mine, especially when I have no idea what I'm doing haha
Great channel! I find watching drum restoration cathartic, I love the US kit's from the golden age being restored back to their best. I've played drums for a while now, I've gigged and recorded quite a lot so I do appreciate the older drums out there. I'm from the UK and have a few drum sets built up over the years, the Gretsch and Ludwig set's from the 60's and 70's go for ever increasing sums of money here, they really are like rocking horse sh*te to get hold of, to get them for an affordable price is impossible but the most important thing, I'm trying to say... is that they're given the love and respect they deserve. Brilliant Job! Great channel and subbed.
Tuning is perfect ...and like you said, that kits looks good from 5'. Very nice! 😍 Best part is you didn't even try to play jazz and they sounded like a jazz kit! 😜
Outstanding!!....I just finished up doing the same thing to the exact kit(sans the snare)....I ironically did just as you did, using the combo of scrubbing bubble and magic eraser....Keep on saving them, one at drum at a time!!....I'll give your channel a follow to keep up in the future.
Fast bond vs say a Titebond for repairs of small areas. Preference or reason? I've found using stainless round bar 3/8" or 1/2 as needed, works great for legs and spurs that can't be found. Don't have to worry about rusting ends if cut Your presentation of work needed to clean up/repair gives the unknowing an idea of what's involved A powered buffing wheel would be a good addition to your tool arsenal Enjoy the videos
fast bond for wrap or CA glue for tiny wrap issues. titebond for wood, rerings, delame, ect. i plan on getting a stationary buffer at some point! and 3/8 rod works great! thanks for watching!
Shawn, greetings from Washington state and I thank you so very much for taking your valuable time to set up and share these great tutorial videos with us. If you don’t mind exposing, what might a ballpark asking price be for a set like this one?
Thanks for watching! I don't mind, I really don't hide anything. Usually even what I paid as It's really irrelevant to what I'm asking, I want what I want haha I'm asking $2800 or B/O
Awesome work. How satisfying to complete such a great set! Did you ever try magic sponge/melamine to clean heads? Makes old like new. They're incredible.
Could you or have you thought of spraying a clear coat over the cracks to kinda fill in those fine cracks with multiple coats to fill it and give a shine?
i don't know of any kind of clear coat that would adhere to the plastic wrap, nor do i think it would help. i think in the end you'd end up with a big mess of flaking clear coat over time. thanks for watching!
Thanks! Vintage wraps are tough, I don't have a source. there's precision drum in NY and jamming Sam's but what they sell now doesn't always match. I got the inlay for this from precision which matches pretty good. If it's something like mod orange or champagne sparkle, unless you find scraps or some NOS stuff you're out of luck. Thanks for watching!
Well, that's an easy fix haha that's an original Gretsch head from the same era! These heads tuned fine imo. New owner wants to pick out heads I'll put them on! Thanks for watching!
“It’s not perfect.” Dude it’s as perfect as it’s gonna get it looks great!
True haha Thanks 🙏
When it comes to restoring vintage drums, especially these, it’s dang near to impossible to get it to be perfect! Great job Shawn seriously man!
And top self restoration.
Thanks brother 🙏
Love these vids...it`s like listening to Ray Liotta restoring drums...
Thanks 🙏 haha
Drums look incredible! Awesome job Shawn!
Thank you 🙏
Dude should have used your vintage hack saw machine on those legs, great content.
I know right haha this was before I got that. Thanks!
Great to see such a nice kit come back to life, really enjoy your work and dedication!

Awesome 👏🏻 and thank you!
Nice job! Beautiful kit. The Remo Classic Fit heads fit really well on these vintage kits. Where/when will these be listed for sale?
thank you! classic fits are great for vintage drums! they sold about a week after this video. i didn't even list them, a viewer contacted me.
That's an awesome you do excellent.
thank you!
Personally, I don’t think it looks that small when you play it. But… whatever your needs are. I’d find it hard to let go of too. Thank for the video.
Thanks man! I really just prefer larger drums. Thanks for watching!
Great job on bringing this beautiful kit back to life!

Magnificent work! Do you also do electro plating?
Thank you! I do not but have thought about trying it DIY style
@@shawnsdrumcave I'd truly like to see your DIY technique on electro plating hardware. It would be quite interesting.

I thought i saw a video, maybe rdavidr, that he showed how to cut back edges. I have some edges that need to be cut back.
It can be cut back if need be! Thanks for watching!
What are they worth now. Please.
Around 3k a guy flew out from California to buy it about 2 weeks after this video. I probably could have got a little more but I was happy and he was!
apply that magic eraser on those Remo heads and you'll see
Works great although it can remove the coating!
@@shawnsdrumcave it doesnt, obviously you have to scrub it lightly.. the coating remains. but it does remove all that dirt.
What’s the blue can of (I’m guessing) paint thinner? Used on the hoops around 11:0
@@TylerZarzeka so long ago now haha if it was wiping down/cleaning something it was lacquer thinner!
That sanre reso was BEAT. I can't believe you didn't put fresh heads on. Really disappointing.
