Yes, yes, yes!! I swear Phlearn has been in my head the last few episodes. Everything I've been curious about learning the next day there is a tutorial on how to do it. Today I literally was doing search online for this process. Gave up because my searches were returning watercolor effects. When really I was looking for Brooke Shaden or even Miss Aniela type of techniques. I love you Phlearn! Now off to watch the video :D
I like how all your videos seem to start with a very quick description of what the video is about. It's a nice touch. Great videos, very helpful, and you're an excellent instructor! Thanks
***** Wow... I recently purchased the Wacom Intuos Pro Small solely upon your recomendation and I LOVE it... However, I find that it hasn't yet replaced my mouse fully. Mostly due to my love for using my mouse's scroll wheel to zoom in and out when editing... I tend to use my right hand with my tablet and my left hand, I go between the scroll wheel on the mouse for zoom and keyboard for shortcuts. I know you already did a tutorial on the Wacom tablet but can you show us your hands as you're using your tablet to see if I find something that might work better for me. So what I mean is, perhaps a tutorial on your tablet settings and more in depth look into how you work... I may not do things exactly as you will and I don't plan to, but perhaps watching what you do as you're using your tablet will give me ideas for things to try to make my work flow easier. Thanks.
Pro Tipp for all: Don't press Control + L but use adjustment layers instead. That keeps your work non-destructive. That means if you make a mistake or decide to adjust one texture in another way you can just change the option and don't have to start over.
Thanks for the tut. At around 5:20 of the tut when you are changing the blending modes of the all the textures I can't because they are greyed out. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Thanks
Hey thanks so much all your tutorials are very helpful and informative and as a beginner i love them. I couldn't figure out why you used so many layers originally as opposed to one layer. Also I couldn't figure out how to access the free backgrounds, is the offer no longer still available? thanks for all your help
For all you guys that complain about not seeing a link to the textures mentioned in this video: try Google search for "free textures photoshop". Just make a nice collection and then start playing around. Aaron here uses the blending mode of Soft light, but you can try others. Use a yellowish texture and blending mode Screen on 12% et voila: it looks like summer. Or use blending mode Multiply, put that at 50%, and mask your portrait 100% - it's art! Have a nice texture but don't like the color - use Color correction until you're satisfied, safe that one, et voila - you just created your own texture. Be creative - you can't go wrong here, just have results you either like or don't. And if you do, it will look awesome.
Sorry dear Ali Reza Golestani :( I know, I get disappointed when that happens. It was just a short video on portrait background textures. The guy was very humorous & nice personality.
Ali Reza Golestani I have the solution for you to Unlock TH-cam Videos for your country. But I hope you are using Mozilla Firefox, like I do. If you do, then go to the Addons page (addons.mozilla.org) and install this Addon: "TH-cam Unblocker 0.5.4" by Jaken3rd. I hope this helps. :-)
I have some similare to this but in my mobile phone.the problem is coming from low speed,i think its with the modem.(i'll try)anyways thank's eurossocial
i'm from colombia and i have learned a lot with your videos!!! i love this one and thanks for the free textures... but i have a question... how do you load the textures into your portrait, that i don't know...
***** Yes, I would like to see a tutorial where you put a face crafted on a rock. Just like the Mount Rushmore with the President heads. Thank you very much. :-)
Love your video Aaron! Very helpful. I have a question, Have you already made a video about removing a person who is in front of a important Color gradient background and to fix that background ? Thank you very much !
Me again :) I had a quick question. The original image kind of hand a painterly/oil painting effect to it. Do you have a video on how this can be achieved? Or could you share any insight on how you think this may have been achieved? Many thanks and great video!
Were the hair on the starting image "real" or did she photoshop them all over the face? I love Brooke's style but sometimes I can't tell, wish I could do portraits like that myself! Any chance of a tutorial to get a similar portrait result?
james hetherington Hi James , The link should be there . It is marked in blue download the 6 textures . I just checked and they are still there. Cheers, Dick
Hi Aaron! I really enjoy your videos, I am just starting with photoshop and I find them quite useful. However, I have a problem with the layers, I don't really know how you mix the texture with the main picture. I just get the texture in the front and not at the top as in the video...It would be great to have details about it. Thanks!
Thank you for the tutorial, my issue is I can't have the photo and the texture in the same screen/ box I do not know how to combine them, How did you do it?
Hi, how did you automatically put those textures under the background? You didn't say. You clicked and all of a sudden, they were there. I don't understand. Newbie here
Can a person use another photo as a background texture layer. Like instead of a Christmas back drop, use a photo of a Christmas scene as back drop. If so can you demonstrate please?
Can I ask for the author and the title of the song of this beautiful music that opens the movie. my daughter is learning to play the clarinet, and this song is wonderful
Your videos are amazing! but please don't forget many of us we are beginners (that's why we are here) and it would be a great idea to tell us perhaps how to add the textures to the "layers pallet" in order for us to group them. I've trying to figure out how have all the textures open at the same time so I can group them. So far I've spent 4 good hours trying to do this so I can move on. I have 6 of your textures open and I cant do anything with them. Would you maybe be able to let knows know how to have all the textures open in the layers pallet please? Thank you.
+Ian Vargas He had all the textures in one photoshop file. Instead, just open one texture and then shift + click it and drag it onto your image. Then there should be a new layer in your project with that texture on it.
Hi Ian. This link help you: www.slrlounge.com/workshop/tips-on-opening-and-combining-images-into-layers/ I'm too spent some hours trying to do this. (some later message :)
Ian Vargas buy the pro tutorials like the rest of us. It will bring you up to speed a lot faster. So much more info in pro tutorials and they are pretty cheap compared to other classes.
Could someone help me? I extremely new to Photoshop, I can't figure out how to get those textures into Photoshop.. maybe this is to advance for me, some guidance would be appreciated.
This guy is THE BEST. I'm deaf, but his voice is sparkling clear and he doesn't talk down to the student. I love everything he does...Bill

Hi, how did you automatically put those textures under the background? You didn't say. You clicked and all of a sudden, they were there. I don't understand. Newbie here
Thanks for the tutorial, I did learn some new things. Texture is important but I don't think it made this image look better.
Can a person use another photo as a background texture layer. Like instead of a Christmas back drop, use a photo of a Christmas scene as back drop. If so can you demonstrate please?

Can I ask for the author and the title of the song of this beautiful music that opens the movie.

Shared only because of that last part
Could someone help me? I extremely new to Photoshop, I can't figure out how to get those textures into Photoshop.. maybe this is to advance for me, some guidance would be appreciated.
Just click file, open, and open the folder with the textures.
Aaron: "I just don't want it on her face."
Me: "What face?"
What is that device that looks like a pen?
404 page not found on your pro texture link - just thought you may want to fix that, definitely can't sell em if people can't get to em.
