He hadn't done any of the actual prep-work to be Pauley, except look like him, and he was suddenly on-edge that they might sus him out. But that actually makes a ton of sense. It could even be both, but I never thought about it like that, it makes sense it'd help them suspect him as they'd later remember how odd he was acting in the diner.

I imagine the nervous nature of Peyton probably helped convince the goons that "Paulie" was up to no good. Great acting by Nicholas Worth. He is essentially playing Peyton's role here, and he definitely pulled it off.

And later, when the money went missing, Guzman thought Pauly had took it and ran. Shows how clever Darkman is, manipulating his enemies so he can turn them against one another.
It was more two in one.... First for more this is the first time his test try disguise in the open field and try his best to mimicking the true pauly..... Remember anything wrong can happened here..... lucky for our protag here ... his suspicious and nervous behavior keep making the real Pauly look suspicious as heck and connected to the missing money with the accusation of Pauly try embezzling the money...
I always liked this actor, especially when he did guest spots on Knight Rider. Very good in his craft. Just listening to him plead for his life makes you feel sorry for him and his impending demise. Sad that he passed away a few years ago.
He did a good job in Knight Rider so did the guy that played Nordstrom his boss in Knight Rider it was funny they fed Devin miles Salisbury steak and told him he needed to keep up his strength he was also good and don't answer the phone he also had a spot in best of the best 2 very sad he died very good actor he loved the business it's sad a lot of people in Hollywood stepped over on him as well

Just think the only other place Larry was known when Darkman was made was LA Law as the kindhearted Benny. He played that role so well, I was in shock when I saw him play Durant. He was one hell of an actor.

This film is a masterpiece! Some scenes are very brutal and dark. Even painful to watch... Darkman survived terrible torments. But such scenes like "Darkman impersonates Pauly" were very witty and enjoyable! *** I don't understand how this movie's box office in 1990 was so low: only $50 million? Did the film had tough competition or a high age limit? It's good that time has benefited the film! Now this movie is a real cult classic, a perfect masterpiece!!!
I wouldn't say a masterpiece 'cause there are parts and dialogs I don't think It was worth it. But it's still a good movie. It just would have been better. But scenes serious like these are incredible.

Its implied a few times throughout the movie. Went over my head as a child but noticed while rewatching over the years. I wish they had elaborated on it a bit more because it's so random so makes me wonder if they were planning on adding it as a bigger subplot but decided to drop it and just left us with a few throwaway remarks
Peyton knew Durant liked Rick when he observed their interactions. That's why the set up was so perfect. The missing money alone may not have been enough to send Durant over the edge, but imply that Paulie was about to run off with Rick too? ...genius. Raimi sure knows how to write revenge stories.
Whenever someone gets thrown out of an apartment window in broad daylight on a busy street (they did that again in Ozark) I'm like, that's cool and all, but it's the best way to attract attention to yourself. The cops are gonna show up in minutes and the bad guys still have to get downstairs and away somehow...hmmm.

not eye color. height can be done with posture and custom shoes to a point. vocal print he is good at mimicking voices. body type can be done with pads in clothing and posture. there are limits but he isn't trying for a deep infiltration, just a casual romp

Wow I never realized as a kid that Durant and Ricky were boyfriends.... "I know he LIKES Ricky!" and Darkman used their relationship against Durant, isn't it odd that Durant is so easy to believe Ricky and Pauly are running away together with the money? It's because he thinks Ricky is cheating on him. Darkman counted on Durant to get emotional and kill Pauly not only because he thinks Ricky is cheating on him, but also as a message to Ricky to run away, he can't forgive him but he doesn't wanna kill Ricky since he loves him in his own psycho-kind-of way, so he just kills Pauly thinking he's disrupting their unfaithful relationship. And this further explains the test the villain does at the end when he mentions "Hey Durant... You don't have any kids..." basically saying he knows the real Durant is closeted, so he wouldn't ever have kids because he doesn't even have a "Beard". I never noticed that one little line that gave it away in the hotdog diner. As a kid I always just thought they were conning their boss, was Darkman's premise for the frame-up, but I always thought it was a little convenient they were flying away together, most criminals just split the cash up go their separate ways. I'll have to rewatch to be sure but I feel so many parts fit, Durant doesn't even have a gf. LOL Darkman chose that suit to make Pauly seem more "open" to Durant.

Wow I never realized as a kid that Durant and Ricky were boyfriends.... "I know he LIKES Ricky!" and Darkman used their relationship against Durant, isn't it odd that Durant is so easy to believe Ricky and Pauly are running away together with the money? It's because he thinks Ricky is cheating on him. Darkman counted on Durant to get emotional and kill Pauly not only because he thinks Ricky is cheating on him, but also as a message to Ricky to run away, he can't forgive him but he doesn't wanna kill Ricky since he loves him in his own psycho-kind-of way, so he just kills Pauly thinking he's disrupting their unfaithful relationship.
And this further explains the test the villain does at the end when he mentions "Hey Durant... You don't have any kids..." basically saying he knows the real Durant is closeted, so he wouldn't ever have kids because he doesn't even have a "Beard". I never noticed that one little line that gave it away in the hotdog diner.
As a kid I always just thought they were conning their boss, was Darkman's premise for the frame-up, but I always thought it was a little convenient they were flying away together, most criminals just split the cash up go their separate ways. I'll have to rewatch to be sure but I feel so many parts fit, Durant doesn't even have a gf. LOL Darkman chose that suit to make Pauly seem more "open" to Durant.
