Are your dating standards too high? Skip the frustration, here's how to know

- Are your standards too high for finding your perfect match? We found ourselves asking this question many times in the process of dating, being single, and feeling frustration about not meeting the right match. We had both made our lists made of all the qualities we desired,but at one point King ripped his up in frustration, and Angela considered crossing out one of her core values (fitness) from her list. How do you know if your standards are reasonable, or too high?
The first test is this...can you mirror most of those standards in yourself? And would the person you are desiring and wanting to attract, would this person be attracted to you? It is important that you are able to be a perfect match for all you are desiring! For example, it would not have been fair for Angela to expect a fit, muscular man if she wasn't in shape herself. It would not be fair for King to have asked for an intelligent woman if he wasn't able to be intelligent himself.
It's ok to have high standards for the man or woman you want to date and build a relationship with, but raise the standards for yourself! For example, if you want someone who takes care of their body, do YOU take care of your body? If you want someone who is financially stable, are YOU financially stable? If you want someone who is generous, are YOU generous?
This is a time to take a look in the mirror. Look at the list you made of all the characteristics you desire, and be honest with yourself. How many of these standards do you meet up to for yourself? It you match them, then your standards are NOT too high, and you can attract that person! If there are standards that you can't even meet yourself, it's time to do some upgrades to yourself!
Don't lower the standards on who you want, rather increase the standards for yourself. We fully support personal development and both did a lot of work on ourselves before we met each other.

This was another great video. I believe, because the world we live in today a lot of people have unrealistic standards. At the end of the day you cannot ask for what you are not. I’ve been in situations on dating apps where women say that they want a man who is fit but they’re overweight or my favorite people those who want someone who makes six figures or a quarter of $1 million a year but the person that wants that works at chipotle, have a terrible character, bad money habits, and a crappy attitude. I agree with you both It is very important to take the time to really work on yourself and develop your character before going after a relationship. With that said the information given here has been helping me put life/relationships in perspective.
