So many older folk in St Ives fondly remember the Salvation Army open air services on the slipway. I'm reliably informed that the person preaching towards the end of the clip is Colonel Harry Warren (senior staff officer at the Salvation Army's Denmark Hill training college at the time).

Wow! Just came across this footage. I was in the St. Ives band then (a cornet player) and would have been about fifteen. I recognise a lot of the faces, including the bass drum player (my uncle) and my dad was the colour sergeant then and carried the flag. Also recognised one of the tambourine players - a girl that I fancied at the time... :-) It looks as if was a special occasion because there is a TV camera clearly visible and the crowd looks much larger than usual. Thanks very much for posting this - it brings back many memories!

Hi, I remember your Dad. I am one of the tambourine players. This video has brought back some really good memories. Good old days.

This event was for Songs of Praise being recorded.

@@chrismartin5189 Ah that's very interesting. I wondered why the cameras were there. 1965 would make sense as it was the Salvation Army centenary year. My great-grandfather recorded the Songs of Praise Albert Hall centenary celebrations on 4th July 65 (I've posted it elsewhere), but sadly he didn't record this episode.
