- This is the FULL in depth review of the 2023 Kawasaki KRX 1000 Trail edition after 2000 hard kms. Here is what I've got to say after 11 month of ownership and my likes/ dislikes with the machine after playing in rocks, trails, mud and snow since purchasing this sxs brand new in 2023. If you have any additional thoughts or questions I will do my best to answer them in the comments!

I am a tour guide and use 5 of these machines, just started the fourth season on brutal rocky rugged terrain. Most of the vehicles are pushing 6000 miles, i can give you a laundry list of all the weak points....
1) EVERY exhaust manifold has cracked and been welded
2) The door latch mechanism gets dirt in them and doors wont close.
3) Coolant fans are garbage we lost a motor over that.
4) Rear CV axel goes, good luck replacing them. Had to send it back to the dealership and they drilled and threaded the case like a clutch puller.
4) primary clutches were all done around 4000 miles
5) seat rails need to be lubed constantly or they freeze
6) every unit started consuming oil after 4000 miles
7) All the steering racks have failed and been replaced.
8) We replace all the tierods, bushings, brakes every season.
These machines get washed at the end of every day before they are parked. Not a Kawasaki hater just a list of things to look for, all brands have a list im sure.
I've heard about several of these. Hopefully not all come true on mine are they all the same year for your rentals?
Love my 2020 KRX. I've got 6K miles, not kilometers, on mine, all high desert (rock, jeep trails, washes) and some road miles. I've gone through clutch weights and tires but nothing else. She's a goat in the rocks! It's my first SxS and I'm very happy with it. I've learned a lot about SxS's since I purchased the KRX and if I could do it all over knowing what I know now, I would still choose the KRX. I hope to get many more miles out of her.
Thats a quality endorsement right there! Hoping to get that many miles out.of.mine! Whats the best tires for it? Im upgrading soon.
Spring sag is an issue with any make or model SxS on the market.
You have just confirmed my opinions about the KRX as my lady and I are now older and not into holding my beer,...watch this brand of riding. I live in Northern Calif. with thousands of miles of logging, mining, and abandoned logging railroad beds and I would not go in a mud bog if you paid me
Glad i could give some insight. At the end of the day this isnt the machine to run at 90+ all day but if you need something that will cruise trails at 30 its definitely a contender
I always wondered why people call a 4 wheel vehicles a bike?
Isn’t bike short for bicycle? Bi = 2.
comes with bi wheel drive and quad wheel drive , just imagine guys calling there motor bike a quad just to sound cool or whatever . BaHahaha I mean Is It a truck or a car. A BIKE. go cart -> BIKE golf cart -> BIKE
snowmobile-> BIKE Tractor-> BIKE outboard -> AH HA BIKE rc car -> bikey Bahahaha .
Comprehensive and believable review. Appreciate the details and explanations 👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video... I looked at one at Blackfoot today one of the guys mentioned you thought I would take a gander glad he mentioned you
Thats where i bought from. Nice people for sure.
Great honest review. One of the most informative I've seen......Great job!
Thanks buddy i appreciate it
Great info! Thanks for this review, we will be shopping for one this week!!
Thats super exciting! What model are you looking at?
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 spot on with your assessment of the KRX !!!
Appreciate that! Hopefully showed some of the pros cons
Good to see that Kawasaki’s back in the game of building good reliable machines the Teryx was an absolute indestructible side-by-side and now I see the KRX is right there with it.
They really lost a lot of business when they had so many engine failure’s on their brute force quads, and the original Teryx side-by-sides.
As far as speed goes, I think people are playing Russian roulette when they’re driving fast like that on the trail.
You’re hearing more and more stories of sticks going through or making their way through the door or the firewall or whatever and killing people are hurting them seriously.
That kind of speed has no place in the bush and it’s disappointing because years ago when I had my dog, she would run beside my machine or behind it or sometimes in front these days with the way the machines are being so fast and the way everybody’s driving them I would never even think of having my dog running on the trail like that.
It will be interesting to see what this new Kawasaki is that’s coming out “the Ridge” but looks like it’s going to be a big four seater, luxurious station wagon. It would be nice if they would upgrade the Teryx4 keeping all the reliability, but making it quieter.
No argument there that kind of speed lends itself towards accidents. Im excited to see what the new ridge looks like even if it is a big boat for comfort!
Great video, wanted to touch on the accessories you mentioned come on the KRX. Not all of them come with that stuff, I bought my 2023 new & it was bare bones. I added a roof, sliders, windshield from Kawasaki & added an aftermarket sound system.
Ah thats a good point you can buy them in base form. Which sound system did you go with?
@@countryslickerofficial I went with a Memphis Audio rocker switch bluetooth controller, small amp & kicker pod speakers mounted on the cage.
Thanks for review, thinking between the krx and x3, the krx I test drove is very loud on inside, the power of the x3 is unbelievable 😮
No argument there. Running an x3 i fell in love with the power
Yea😂, but power not everything, I want a good solid bike… the cab noise in the krx was rough though, we had the teryx4 years ago, loved the bike but the cab noise led to the sell of it, I’m thinking hard
Sup man I’m the guy that you towed on that icy hill I just wanna say thanks and that you will have 8 new followers 👍👍
Appreciate the support guys. Nice to meet you and hope you had a good easter!
I've been eyeing these units for a few months. Seems like the way to go. Drove one around the dealer lot last weekend. Loved it. Only thing I noticed on 2 different ones (I took the base and the trail for a quick spin) is that when I turned switch from 2wd to 4wd the display did not show it instantly. Didn't matter if I stopped, L, H, N, at a very slow crawl. I did hear the actuator every time I switched it and I think it was actually engaging and disengaging properly. Almost seemed like there was a "lag" on the dash.....it would finally display it properly after rolling along a few feet it seemed.
Makes sense that the light only came on once it was fully engaged. I know the diff lock will only come on once you roll a few feet to let the wheels sync with each other.
Appreciate the review. The waiting on OEM parts makes me nervous. They’re having big savings right now on 2024s which seems a little odd so early in the year. ??? Glad to hear about the lockers as Can Am lockers suck.
I’m actually waiting to see what this new Ridge will be.
Im not sure if the oem parts issue is industry wide or just a kawasaki thing but it sure is annoying.
Nice I’ve sure used mine was street driving while I was out of work on shoulder surgery driving 30/60 miles at 60 mph with 35s no issue other than it lives gas no break in period for mine soon as I got it went to royal blue and wind rock and beat on it hard love my krx over 2600 miles on it now
Hows the belt on yours have you changed it yet?
@@countryslickerofficial no I haven’t but lately I have noticed slipping and when I drive long ways on roads or high way belt temp got up to 3 bar back in the summer maybe it’s stretched I took cover off to look at belt and it looks brand new so I’m thinking or hoping it’s stretched before I got injured I had 900 miles on machine but when I got street legal and was in a sling if we needed to go anywhere Costco or anywhere I drive the krx lol lots of fun hell I had as much on the roads as I did the trails I work at m&m mars I even drive it to work some 33 miles one way I love the machine
Silly Kehds,…
That’s a buggy!
A bad ass KawaPowa buggy.
haha that is true def buggy is a better word for it
My expectations were that this machine is meant for Alberta, nice review. I will be determining if 2 or 4 seater by the end of this summer and making purchase for 2025. I love how beefy the machine and I can fit in a damn seat, tried to sit in can am, felt like a kids booster seat lol
Excited to see the new machine. The 4 seaters seem pretty slick but id want some bigger tires to clear the obstacles woth the longer wheelbase
@@countryslickerofficial who knows, may be they will put factory charger on 4 seater by the time 2025 is here 🤷♂️ then I will be able to rock 35s no problem.
that would definitely be nice to see, with an extra 50 hp this thing would be a major power player@@Podchynok
Calling a sxs with a steering wheel a bike is just crazy lol.
get 1/2 trail armor..
full access trans skid
Brute poly motor and trans mount bushings
Check out D 3 Offroad, they have two KRX’s and do shock rebuilds. They are Canadians if you have not come across their channel yet. You might be able to just recharge your shocks w/nitrogen they have seen sag do to nitro leakage
Those guys are great i love their videos! And yeah thats the plan hopefully!
D3 does an amazing job with shocks, he will get them all fixed up for you
What mud flares are you running and how do you like them? Thanks for a great review.
I actually made these out of 3mm thick abs plastic sheet. I find i hit them often on trees and would rather break the cheap abs and remake them than replace expensive actual fenders. Other than physical hits off trees they hold.up very well to mud and snow. And for 50 bucks cheap and easy to replace.
@@countryslickerofficial you should make a video about how to make and install them. It would be a public service to the KRX community.
I may just do that then! appreciate the insight into a good vid idea@@RickFurnival

I feel i bulletproof my rig and i drive it hard in obstacle trails i can out drive the turbo cars, but i think thats a combo of the suspension and driving skills but i have nothing bad to say mine tops out at 70mph and thats good enough because whats tons of HP of your cart cannot handle it!
That sounds like a super sweet build to me how do you like the 35s vs 33s?
I have a 2023 krx4 with 3200 miles. Besides sagging a little bit it as been flawless
Stay tuned for my next video i believe we fixed the sagging.
Considering high lifter and add individual stuff from other packages
Just bought the ES yesterday. I hope it’s a good one.😁
Congrats on the purchase. Thatd with the electronic suspension right?
Yes, me and the wife just retired and are excited to go exploring. We just moved and are four minutes outside Fish lake national Forest. We also have sand dunes 1 mile west of us.
Comments on here wow did you come to watch the individuals personal expierence or just bash /hate on Krx? Its all good I get each of us are fan boys for our brand. We personally own the KRX4 es se model not the same but still Krx we love ours the FOX live shocks are amazing.
It aint the fastest obviously we know that but we trail ride and we have yet to not get through the "shit" we have driven through.Thank you for the review sir.
Thanks for watching and glad someone took more away from it than a few wrong terminologies on my part :)
Haven’t read one bashing or hater or complaint except yours.
I want to check reliability and how the belt life is on the vehicle. I plan on buying a SXS and the kawasaki seems to be the option i am piviting towards but i want real user feed back. Thank
I'm at 2500 kms on the stock belt
Nice mate! Thanks for the info. Many years ago my Aussie buddies and I used to spend our evenings building buggies and racing each other on some amazing sand dunes in Lancelin, West Australia. I have always been an adrenaline junky, but have been committed towards the responsibilities as a bloke. I le that new tech can supply me with an instant MONSTER. But, I'll sacrifice some horsepower for dependability. I'm past the days of slamming beers and falling out of the buggy. Ignoring ever shifting dunes....
Your video helped me out. Cheers mate. I hope common sense prevails in your country and Trudeau is banished.
No worries my man and thanks for the good wishes, i hope your right
What did you do to solve the sag issue?
I did some shock therapy caps and increases nitrogen pressure to 185 psi. Got all my clearance back and a better ride!
I was going to buy one back in 2020 for 18k , now they gone up so much, 34k trail package..😢
I paid even more for mine if you can believe it
It’s not a bike!
Bicycle has 2 wheels not 4 bi,tri,quad
Not a "car" either !
Usa a trail krx1000 is 25k i would of gpt a pro xp sport same price, more hp and not really any weakness
Im not sure long term how that turbo will work out with the extra moving parts.
@@countryslickerofficial Polaris has had the turbo out for 10 years. It’s not really an issue. In 2020 they went to a liquid cooled turbo in their pro line and it’s been even more reliable. It always gets me when people say ‘I don’t want this option or this option because it could fail. ‘ By that logic, you should be riding an actual bicycle since it will have considerably less moving parts than any sxs
@dchambers25 the problem with buying a Polaris is it's a Polaris.
I don't see any bikes here
Rig buggy UTV side by side or sxs not a bike
It's not a bike
why do people call these bikes? they are absolutely cars
Bad habit i suppose
@@countryslickerofficial just sounds silly. bike is short for bicycle which means a vehicle with two wheels. its a cool car
For some reason I think it's just a Canadian thing. I've heard them call snowmobiles bikes as well
It's NOT a BIKE...
Lol my 21 xrs smart shox is so much better then the Krx suspension wise, and it keeps u locked in the seat. Krx you are getting tossed around everywhere. You have under rated the 72” wide x3.. it’s definitely not the best suspension!!
Steering is much better than my can am x3..
feedback is sub par with the x3.. it’s a solid machine, but it’s meant for slower riding, cannot keep up to x3! My father in law owns a Krx so I definitely know what I’m talking about.
I dont know my man, that xrs has a lot of money in the shocks and it can take the big hits but that low speed dampening isnt quite up to snuff in my opinion. Does yours have the external reservior bypasses?
I rode in a stock krx and the suspension was rough. Rode in a xp1000 and it was way smoother. Also we got a guy with a broke front diff on his krx.
The x3 is not the best lol. Do you enjoy the low ground clearance and the huge ass end kick?
@@cullens165ablewhat a terrible absolutely terrible opinion. The xp1000 is garbage. You have no idea how that buddy of yours set the krx. It has like 24 clickers on each corner. Also the front diff probably blew going up a crazy rock climb pulling the broken rzr.
I agree with most of your review....but quit calling it a BIKE!! "Bike" is short for BICYCLE--meaning 2 wheels. Machine, car, SXS, buggy....I don't care, but BIKE is definitely wrong.
Lol i was waiting for someone to call me on that. Bad habits run deep ;) when i first got it i couldnt stop calling it a car and people hated that too.
bike lol
