Dakich's personal feelings about Coach Knight aside, he's always been a fair and complimenting guy about Knight as a coach. I give him that credit for being able to differentiate between that.
Always been an IU and coach Knight. I’m MedRetUSMC and understand Coach Knight way of thinking. Still remember the game when coach put Dan to guard Michael Jordon and Dan held him to 8 points 😊
I went to Knights basketball camp in the 80s for 3 years. Met peeps like Steve Alford and others. Coach Knight cared the most about everyone learning. He was tough, but its his circus. If you can't handle it, get out! Rip Coach. We will all miss you.
Bob Knight, Pete Carril and John Wooden are of an era that we will never see again. It’s sad that tough love and values like he utilized is a thing of the past in College Basketball!
Coach Knight had no use for John Wooden. Damned him the faintest of praise as only he could. He believed that Wooden turned a blind eye to rampant cheating by UCLA boosters on the trail. One booster in particular.
I am a huge IU fan I was 14 yrs old watching the game thinking we we were about to win the game I was stunned when Dan turned the ball over Dan has always been one of my favorite players I still remember the play to this day it stung that's how I love Hoosier basketball I had a lot of respect for Coach Knight it didn't like how Dan was treated by someone he had respected trusted and maybe even loved at one time!!! Sorry you had to go through that Dan to me your one of the best players no matter what the statics......
Everyone in Indiana worshipped Bob Knight. And those that didn't were pressured to keep their mouths shut, lest the infidels commit blasphemy against The Lord and Savior, Bob Knight. If he and his followers couldn't make make people love him, they could at least intimidate them into silence. That's what true leadership is all about.
He’s showing everyone he is the true Two Face with this interview. Talked shit for years and now his personal love fest. If Coach was still around. He wouldn’t be saying one kind word. We all know that.
@@RodneyShoaf You are clueless. Dan calls both sides of it and has from day 1. You dont know. Dans always called Bobby on the off court rub they had and sung his praise on every basketball issue. Stop spreading misinformation.
Not sure why you’re talking to Dan about this, dude spent the previous 10 years on his show trashing Bob Knight. This guy is an all time back stabbing hater
George McGinnis was a great IU basketball player in 1970. He then went o the ABA to play Pro Ball. But Did He Leave IU because Coach Bob Knight was coming in to Coach ? Did Knight try to talk him out of leaving ? Or was he gone before knowing Coach Knight would be the incoming Coach. If George had stayed thy beat UCLA in the semifinals in 1973. They had Steve Dowling who was a great player too
OK , Thank yu for that update. I've always wonder why George left, I know that IU was going to have Talent and George could have taken them Over the Top@@IndianaSportsBeatRadio
Dakiitch talked mad $h!t for seasons when he became a color commentator... Then he interviews on live television and has to use Coach Knights verbiage after coach passes. Coach Knight tolerated him, and then dismissed him..Eat it Dan...
I thought he hated coach because he didn’t get the job? Knight made Dan every dime he ever earned, he didn’t get the coaching job so he pissed on coach Knight. Just go away you flake.

I'm 71 years old and remember IU basketball when it was GREAT FUN to be a fan! Thanks, Dan for the wonderful memories.

Thank you, Dan, for being fair to Coach Knight.
Love it! Couldn't agree more with Dan. Miss those fab days in Bloomington. Grew up there and lived through the golden age of Hoosier Basketball.

Good job Dan.

With the transfer portal coaches can't discipline or bench a player anymore. They simply leave.

Rip bob knight 😢 🙏
I remember Dan Dakich guarding Michael Jordan in the NCAA tournament. It was the best defensive performance I've ever seen.
The modern world could use a little more Bob Knight

You had to be tough as nails to play for bob knight . He could be a Ahole but he was funny ,sarcastic ,vulgar , honest ,loyal ,generous ....celtic fan
Miller Kopp has Dan Jock-itch triggered.

Times change Dan! Quite knocking IU all the time.
Dan is a sob he just said coach knight abuse him couldn't stand him which him Dead now hes on every show praising The coach wtf
@@RodneyShoafHe’s a phony!
I’m glad IU has been irrelevant since Bob left. Karma

Iam a lot older than you i had coach bob knight you go to hell i knew him personally did you no
I think Woody is trying to get us back to it.
Exactly
Woodson is also a former IU player
and an All American
Dakich is a windbag
not by a long shot
Woodson is a good coach but he ain’t Woody!
There’s only one Woody in coaching and he is a Buckeye Legend!
It's worth noting that Indiana hasn't won a championship since Coach Knight's departure.
Well, no offense to Coach Knight, but IU had a run to the championship game (unexpectedly) in early 2000s under Mike Davis.
And Indiana rarely had nba talent under bk yet they still won a lot
@@marvinlutz9028that was coach Knights team.
Meh, almost no team wins NCAA championships.
The White Cadillac.
Well said!! Bobby Knight 's Tough Love, Principlined, Coaching, Teaching and Mentoring was not made for beta boys, wimps, whiners and weenies.
Does Dan find a way to diss the University of Louisville in this clip ?

Agree 100%. But Dakich is such a narcissist he just has to give his thoughts.
I'm suprised Danny had time . He's usually to busy getting donkey punched by his boy toy urban Meyer

George McGinnis left Indiana because his father had an accident that left him unable to provide for their family.

His father was killed in a construction accident

Hard to believe Dakich held Jordan to 13 points in IU's great upset of UNC in 1984.

Very true

Dan is a jerk so was Knight in many respects. Great at coaching but I still find the brashness unnecessary.
Typical victim conservative- LOVED HIM until he couldnt do anything for me
