  • Bringing back 80's classics for a modern makeover rarely ends well, but Beverly Hills Cop 4 might just be an exception. Was it was worth waiting 30 years for a sequel? Let's find out.

The soundtrack was over engineered and over synth-waved. Faltermeyer's original 1984 score used less than 5 instruments beautifully produced and recorded by him . Its power was its understated simplicity. Adding every single 1980s synth sound you can find to an orchestra and choir shows a lack of understanding of the music and movie genre.

The Real MVP of Beverly Hills Cop 4 was and still is: Jerry Bruckheimer!
The fact that this movie worked AT ALL is the Hail Mary🏈 of all sequels.
This sequel shouldn't have worked for coming up short but effectively made the story coherent and well controlled.
I understand this was one of Jerry's first major blockbuster so he knew he had to personally be involved in order for this film to work. What's so touching before the start of the film: he still credits his closest friend Don Simpson as co-producer even after his passing 30 years later.

Recently found out there is now an entire TH-cam sub-genre attempting to discredit The Drinker and critiquing his videos (poorly). You know you’ve made it big when you’re not only an author, but a genre! 🎉

Hey Con. The Lion King 2019 remake has its own genre of videos on the failures of its cgi and why its insistence to barely change enough is horrible.
A lot of good and bad films can spawn their own genres of videos!
