Appreciate you uploading this video. Just received my Dr Slicks adjustable Razor scissors this morning and admit I regret not buying them sooner. Hands down thee best scissors I’ve used and purchased to date. They are certainly not on the cheap side but having used them it’s clear to see why they command such a high price. As I tie trout flies only I purchased the 4” set and use a set of the Fiskars spring action arrow pointed scissors for my various hair and chenille materials but the DS Razors are phenomenal. Highly recommend these to any new tier, just don’t drop them ;)
Dr. Slick Synthetics Scissors: 10 out of 10 for everyday medium to large flies (say size 10 and larger). GSP? No problem! Just nick the thread with one blade of open scissors. I have several other pairs of Dr. Slick scissors that I use for up close and personal work, but for gettin' 'er done work, these things rock! Nice video!
HRC (rockwell hardness) of 45 isnt hard.... Not at all, I am hoping you misspoke. A standard kitchen Knife with 410, or more commonly used now 440c Stainless has an HRC of 55+/- 2. A good outdoor camp knife will usually have an HRC of around 58-63. and some "super steels" such as CPM3V, or 4V have hardnesses in the mid 60s without becoming brittle. EDIT: Just looked it up. you didnt misspeak. This is right from their website"All scissors are made from 410 Japanese stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 45, except the Razor scissors which are made from 440 J2 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 55." The Razor scissors just got a lot more attractive. The tungsten carbide inserts are not measured on the HRC scale though. It is far far harder than any steel.
