Nice engineering, I just did the rear tank on my IDI. Was not fun. You are the first one ive seen use the pick up foot. On stock tank you loose your reserve like four gallons with it. For the people out there I got the foot pick up at LMC truck, they carry it. Think its a bit around twenty or so. Worth it, do the job right.
Glad u did a video on this. I plan on doin a 38 gal tank conversion on mine. I got a 20 gal front, 10-13 gal rear so thats 30-33 gallons. The 38 gal tank would be an extra 5-8 gallin range
Thks for the video my problem love the tank but has to be able use it for a fuel Injected motor i put a in tank pump on the extended tube but no baffling 38 gals great mines a 1965 f100 crown Victoria crossmember 5.3 4l60 with a 14 bolt diff any thank you for the video👍😊
Off the subject with the manuel pump i put a check value where the 90 is put 90 on value then fuel line stop fuel bleeding back but with the elec pump may not just help with frist start i work for a drilling company they had 20 of them any wsy just a thought
Under normal circumstances yeah, there would be a strainer; however those almost always break/rot off. The fuel pump (Electric pump) has its own strainer as well as the regular fuel filter. So no real need for parts to fail
Great stuff and thank you for making this video! 2 questions: 1) If I remove my receiver hitch, how can I get the bolts back in when I install the tank? Looks like I wouldn't be able to get to the top to hold the bolts to tighten them. 2) If I just remove the bed can I install the tank from the top and leave my hitch on?
1) Very carefully. I did some interesting stuff with a wrench to get it in. 2) Absolutely. To make things even better, a great time to clean and paint the frame, as well as paint/repair your leaf spring hangers.
Nice, so im guessing you bypassed the entire Fuel Tank Selector Valve? Ive pulled mine apart multiple times. Im about to do this mod on my 89 F250 IDI. I struggled with that plastic fuel line ended up using a harbour frieght heat gun to get the nipple onto the line. I love this truck wish I had the money to give it some body love it deserves. Shes ate up with rust Ive got the Driver floor held up with hockey pucks and rubber door wedges and some sheet metal screwed in for now. Motor has under 90K though.
No, the black plastic piece that looks like a shower head fall apart after 5 years or so, when they do at about 1/4 tank the metal tube is unable to pick up fuel anymore and you "run out of fuel", just happened to me last night, put 5 gallons in and voila', running again without touching another thing.
@@Peter-V_00 I just took my tank out the other weekend to patch a hole with jb weld it worked but mines a different design no shower head just a sock maybe only some of em have the faucet
Just what I needed. Another idea to spend my time and money on for my truck.

Thank you very much. I did the tank and very happy with the extra gallons of diesel.

I'm glad your still making videos, I've used all your videos as reference to fix my truck
Glad to be of help to you!
I greatly appreciate you posting this video, helps out big time 🤙🏽
I haven’t been able to find the sending unit you used, can you give me a part number to find it by chance?
I’m in same boat lol
Thats what im lookin for Sir. Can i ask if you have any available partnumbers? I want to do the same thing

Where did you get the bracket to mount the electric fuel pump? I am about to do the same modification to mine. Thank you.
shouldnt there be a big sock on the end of the pickup tube?
ive never seen just bare metal tube like that

Is this from classic diesel designs? Thx
I think he sourced it out. If not mistaken its the f26e tank

doing the same on my 88 F350 2wd. my concern is... since the tank is so much lower, should i have a skid plate?

Correct
I used 6AN fittings and Stainless Braided PTFE 3/8” fuel line for both the send/return lines.
Just eliminated a lot of headaches, etc
Where did you get the sending unit?
What tank did u use part number
I think its the f26e
Can this tank work for gas engine?
Did you modify the float or did it come that way?
Made a new float rod with a piece of 3/32” brazing rod
My gauge seems to move faster under 1/4 tank is that the issue?

@@CopperheadGarage Sounds like a gas truck, as a rule the OBS diesels 100% use shower head type pickups.
@@Peter-V_00 yea it is 4.9 300
@@Peter-V_00 why is that?
About how much all this set up run you ?
About $450 counting the fuel lines, etc
@@TheFSeries got any links for the parts
Thanks
Where did u get the larger tank??
Amazon, of course lol
Put the link
