Sees a very measured and sensible explanation for why I should NOT try to serve like Kyrgios. Next day: Tries to serve likes Kyrgios even more. What's wrong with me?
Nothing. But i dont advice you to copy anything. you should copy most important parts of his serve, that i suited for you. For example i cant copy his wrist motion, that he uses to delay his right arm
A few years ago I looked to Nick as my favourite serve style to copy but I hadn’t properly developed my toss position and loading, so overall my serve motion felt fun but was really inconsistent. I was too focused on the cool rocking motion and pulling my leg up. I’m not ‘fast twitch muscle’ quick enough for the Krygios style. For the past two years I’ve focused on simple platform stance motions with less moving parts like Raonic and 2020’s Djokovic, and focused on my toss and swing path. My serve is much better now.
It takes an extremely consistent toss to be able to serve so fast without letting the ball rise. The impact point has to be at the same place every single time, which requires, I would say, an inhumane amount of skill. Nick Kyrgios is an alien, there you have it, I said it first.
I did something similar on my serve, adjusting my motion after a phisical problem. Low toss, pinpont stance and fast motion. It worked ok for the first serve, mainly flat or with little slice, but I was never able to develop a decent topspin for the second serve. Like if there was no time or space for a proper swing...🤔
2 of the best servers of all time and potentially a third and we're not going to learn from them and use what we can? wtff??? If you're an athlete and have some flexibility, I'd say these models are easy to emulate and reproduce. If you're a club hack that has little to no athleticism? Stick with the frying pan serve and don't waste your time with lessons.
I recently went from Dolgopolv style to Kyrgios'. Pinpoint serve is less heavy on my low back and shoulder, more efficient in transfer the weight to the ball, and im heavy btw (90kg/198lbs)
This is actually 90% my serve. Only thing I don’t do is raise my toe on my front foot. Works well for me. Excellent angles, consistency, spins and power
I always say that if you watch Kyrgios serve and are trying to pick up anything just watch what he does above his hips cause everything happening below that is unique to him completely
I like to throw the ball very far inside the baseline like Nick Kyrgios ...So my left hand isn't as stretched as those with a toss closer to baseline. I notice Nick Kyrgios' left arm isn't very vertical as well...
Nick, I also notice that for flat and slice serves Kyrgios' chest is fully open at contact (facing the opposite baseline), where most other pros have their chest pointing at least slightly or up to 45 degrees towards the side fence at contact (hitting shoulder still behind non dominant shoulder). Any thoughts on this difference?
Depend on what serve they are hitting Best servers will have full torso rotation in flat and slice It’s true though that some have kick characteristics on flat and slice
My Philosophy - Don’t copy anything ! What you come up with on your own will be as good ! Learn the basics,, the body mechanics fundamentals; and from there, develop it ! And make it your own invention ! Rely on your own wits and your own instincts and insights! You can do it if you’re willing to work hard at it ! Thousands upon thousands of practice hours is required!
The best part of his serve is his ultra consistent toss and his explosiveness. His footwork would be hard to copy. Even compared to other players he has a great serve. He can easily win a slam but his can't control his emotions.
I think the beauty of a low toss and a rhythmic motion is that he's placing the ball into a consistent swing path and the ball travels such a short distance from when it leaves his hand to contact. Surely something even a club hack should try to emulate because of how easy it is.
Why Zverev is serving faster in 2024

I just learned that I was copying his serve wrong for years, time to fix it

I have spent so much time trying to copy his serve now its pretty much natural for me

Now because of this video I will copy the Kyrgios serve😅
Good luck!
Actually don't copy anything from Nick Kyrgios.
😂 😂 I would say stay as far as away from him !!
Attitude included
😂
Why not? The guy aces alot
@@c2pascual he also aces at being a mega douche 😂

After just watching one match of his on TH-cam ii think you perfectly explained this serve technique his serve is like a fine wine 🍷 unbelievable 😅
🙏
Great call on the similarly with Goran. Perricard, who now seems to have the best serve in tennis, has this same technique also it seems.
and Sinner

Sama for me. I had knee problems using Dolgopolov style. Thats why i change to Kyrgios.
Can you do an episode on Rybakina’s serve? Thanks!
Will do

If it works for him or to anyone else I don't see anything wrong with that serve.
Always great videos. You should do one on Fonseca’s forehand and backhand. He’s a beast.
Kyrios serve is very similar to Dr. Ivo’s serve (karlovic).
I always say that if you watch Kyrgios serve and are trying to pick up anything just watch what he does above his hips cause everything happening below that is unique to him completely
Nicks probably having a beer right now watching this and thinking about his next pokemon move
Any opinion on copying Taylor Dent’s serve motion?
3:50 this is what you shouldn’t copy, loading back leg is good it’s been shown by mark kovacs
have you ever seen Kovac's serve? lmfao he sucks.
What about Perricard?

My guy in the wheelchair in the backround💀
You know it’s funny I’ve never really liked the way his serve looks. Still insanely good obviously.
I also never liked it much but i i can see why it's great

Do you do online lessons, I need help with my serve.
Go to his website
“Let me guide you…, and don’t take this as a guide.” Okay, Nico! (Nah I get what you mean. Just playing 😅)
🙏🙌
You should do a podcast with Nick.
yeah, and compare serves
nice
🙏
The Beast serve
But not for everyone
only for athletes
okay so who should we copy? maybe Novak?
I took some parts from Novak, some from Kyrgios and Dolgopolov.
just copy ruuds, it’s not as good but it’s enough and it’s easier
Nick is the biggest fool and a tool but he has one of the best serve.
Copy pete sampras
