Just mix the foul with fried onions, put chopped cherry tomatoes in after chopping them, add cumin, fresh parsley and salt if you want. A bit of lemon. Brown pitta bread to go with it. That's how my Egyptian father liked them.

Why are you people complaining about how long it takes to cook it? Its a dried bean not canned food. Duh.
What is everybody's problem? I have never cooked any kind of fresh beans and it took only 10 to make. If you buy the beans in a can, then yes it won't take no four hours to cook, because it's already been cooked that way, just heat it up.

She is double dipping which is a HUGE NO NO in the middle east. You never bite your bread and dip it back in to food. At our house no one else would have eaten from that bowl after her.
Foul Medames is cooked in water only, nothing else,if you add anything else you should not associate it with Egypt...

1) ful doesn't mean fava, in literally translates to "beans"
