Of Respect is something to be earned, and if you can't get it across to other organisation of such respect be given to QA Engineer, you have NOT done enough of respecting own self as QA Engineer. My advise is find out WHAT is the QUALITY of QA Engineer required in the field you are in.
I believe your Training, Knowledge, Experience and Competency in QA for the field you are in is the key to VALUE of level of respect you earn from others in the organisation. From mastering RISKS from quality perspective, supported by your training, applicable knowledge and previous experience, your competency will be the pivot of organisation Business, financial, design, technology and Production success. You are the business defender to ensure the COST of Quality of Company, Product /or Services will never be compromise.
You are also the protector of the Quality of; the People, business working environment, the asset (product and services) and the image and reputation of you company.
Not all QA Engineer are made equal, you need specific training, knowledge experience and Competence to be a respectable one.

Things I wish I had known: 1) QA methodologies, 2) Business needs, 3) What level of team collaboration is required, 4) How to write test plans, and, 5) A greater understanding of software architecture.
I am no longer in this field because I lacked knowledge in these areas.

Today, automated testing is increasingly gaining momentum like never before. So, gaining expertise in handling automated testing platforms will also be a great advantage. There are no-code, intelligent test automation platforms like Avo Assure that’s designed to make a QA engineer’s life much easier.

I have an accounting background and have 15+ years of programming experience. I have always worked alone, so qa was my problem. My first freelance qa experience happened a few days ago and was a 48-hour test cycle. I had no idea how fast-paced reporting the bugs was going to be. The competition was brutal. I found a series that no one had found, but since I was new to the procedural aspect of reporting it took me forever to write everything perfectly and create documentation. I uploaded the first bug reports after again making sure no one had found it. About 45 minutes later I uploaded the second, but I don't think I checked. Anyway, I continued until the series was finished. The long and short of it was that I worked for six hours and got paid $3. I am pretty sure that the others got rejected because they were already reported, but I have no idea. Is it ok to even ask?
