It was because of Jet Black I discovered my love for drumming. He'll always be an inspiration for me. RIP JB

The original line-up were fantastic. Hugh's inventive guitar work along with his fine singing voice. John's bass tone and those great basslines. Dave's keyboard wizardry too. For me, Jet was everything you needed from a drummer. Intensity or a wonderful lightness of touch, whatever each song required. The drum pattern for Genetix is just inspired. RIP, Jet ♥

Indeed, such a great melting pot of uniquely-creative musicians, and Jet was such a wonderfully musical drummer who’s taught me a lot about playing for the song! Thanks for listening! 🙏

This is a fascinating chat. You guys are both so passionate about your craft and great how you shared some insight that we in the audience at either a Hugh or a Stranglers gig would never know. Much appreciated!!! Thanks…

Wow, I am so glad thé algorithmes actually put something interesting, that I havent seen before, my way.
What I really like is to hear two blokes that played with JJ and Dave and the other with Sir Hugh the Well of Corn, chatting together about playing some of the same great songs from my most all-time favourite band.
Thankyou for posting this, fella ! It's damn fine.
RIP Dave and Jet both, and long live Hugh and the current line-up of The Stranglers 🖤😎. Thankyou for the fuckin music, Stranglers all.

For tough Stranglers songs surely Sewer? - On "All Live" they do "Was it You?" straight into Sewer, there's a few extra bars on that already ridiculous rolling and crash sequence at the end of 10 minutes solid playing 😲! Jet was approaching 50 at the time, yet on the footage he isn't tapping - he's really giving it some! 💪

Great one! Though I didn’t mention my tough Stranglers songs to play in the interview, when I recorded “People, Places, Pieces” with Hugh, ‘Sewer’ was definitely one of the more involved pieces, yet after practicing it repeatedly, I came to see all of the involved parts as but details, just like those any other song has, and is part of why is I respect every song I get to play! (:

@@windsordrums ... Yeah, cool. Though I haven't looked at it that carefully - and I'm not musically trained - it looks to me as though the later part of Sewer and all but the first couple of bars of Duchess are essentially LRLRLR all the way through, move around the kit, a bit of accenting, keep the beat on the bass and hey presto. I'm a little heartened to discover that professional drummers can't always immediately work out how a song is played, there are plenty that have entirely flummoxed me! - e.g. the entire Paradise Lost "Host" album! - 🤔- Funny to see Caroline Campbell go from being Hugh's bassist to the keyboardist in Cradle of Filth - bit of a change! 😊

Great listening, really appreciated. Producer Martin Rushent likened Jet to Charlie Watts. Jazz influenced 'all arms' and used minimal effort to get the loudest sound . One of a kind
Re comment on his drum set up . Sure he used a black Ludwig set in the B&W era . All their gear was stolen during the 80 US tour .
1982 (vol2 11 ) of their fanzine lists the bands stage La folie set positioning and and their gear incl Jets set up . Promuco with Evans drum heads. Paiste hi hats , Zildjian ridr crash and splash's , Premier stands and bass pedal . I'll find a link to the page and post below .
